Get well soon

Morning all!  How is everyone? I'm very slightly insanely excited today as it's one week til I'm in London seeing Les Mis with the wonderful Alfie Boe and Matt Lucas! But anyway..... today's card is all about men doing silly things. A really good friend of mine fell down his stairs, breaking in his foot in such a sensational way that he's going to have to have it pinned (once the swelling finally goes down).

So he's feeling very sorry for himself and as he's in Bristol - and I'm in Birmingham at the moment, I thought I should send him a card at the very least.

The image is from High Hope's Stamps, which I stamped onto the pattern paper and then again onto plain white cardstock - before colouring it in with promarkers and layering it up. The papers are from stampin up.
Simple but I think masculine in design.

Fancy Folds

Evening all,

This card i'm entering in for Crafty Catz challenge this week which is fancy folds. It's the birthday card i've made for my best friend and it's my first attempt at a tag card. Overall, I think it's worked rather well.

The base card is from an A4 sheet of plain white card stock which i've hand cut the ovals into. All the papers are from stock. The butterflies are a MS punch, the flowers are from Joanna Sheen, white pearls from stash and so is the ribbon. Glitter is star dust stickles and the lettering, numbers, monkey and embossing is all cuttlebug dies and folders.

Think that's just about it. Thanks for looking and happy crafting x

Happy Father's Day

So with father's day coming up I thought it was about time I kicked my ass into gear and actually made my dad a card. Like all male cards, I found this one a struggle to design on my own which is why i'm grateful that there's been some really inspirational challenges' this week that have helped me on my way.

The image is PB and coloured with pro-markers. The papers are from the Forever Friends Classic collection and Stampin' Up. The sentiment is hand cut and the pips and ribbon from stash. I'm quite pleased with the outcome and I hope dad likes it too.

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:-
Penny Black - One for the guys
Cupcake Challenges - boy, oh boy, oh boy!
Truly Scrumptious - Sketch Challenge
Simon Says - Bingo (bottom row: shape, ribbon & sentiment)
Creative Inspirations - Blue, Green and one other colour

Thanks for looking and happy crafting x

I'm as mad as a hatter!

Morning all,

Well this is just a little something I wanted to share with you. Last week was my brother's birthday and it took him forever to decide what he wanted as a present (he has since decided so i've got to go get it) but I hate not having something to open on my birthday - it's the same as christmas; money is all well and good but there's nothing like making a mess with wrapping paper or having something fun to open. So this year I decided to make him a Mad Hatter's Hat, as he loooooooves Tim Burton's - Alice in Wonderland.

I do sometimes wonder why I do this to myself? It's far from the easiest project I've ever done - the concept is easy enough but the elements that make this hat up are much trickier. Anyway this is what I was aiming to reproduce:
And this is what I came up with
It's far from perfect, but not a bad attempt I didn't think? anyway, my brother loved it which was the main thing really but I thought it might entertain some of you to see.

Hope you like it! Have a good day and happy crafting xx

My Brother's Birthday Card

Hello!

This evenings card is my Brother's birthday card which I'm entering into 4 challenges: Simon Say's Stamp and Fussy and Fancy Friday's - who both wanted Male or Father's Day Cards, Ooh-la-la Challenge #81 of Birthdays and Tuesday Morning Sketchers who provided this layout:
Like most people I hate making male cards and this time was no exception - but my brother's do moan if they don't get a hand made card so I took inspiration from the sketch - incorporated an idea called 'bridging the gap' and this is the result:

The papers are one's i've had for a while, the stars are hand cut, the ribbon is from craft fairy and the pips from stash. The sentiment is computer generated. I have to say that for all it's aparant simplicity this was a fiddly card to make. Oh well - I hope he likes it.

Thanks for looking and happy crafting xx

Flower Power

Morning all,

Today's card is a slightly sad one, as it was a leaving card for my boss - she's moving on to pasture's new and will shortly be followed by our deputy curator too! (no management! scary!) anyway - my boss loves flowers, especially sweet peas which is kind of perfect as I have the most fabulous sweet pea stamp.

This is a layout I often use with this stamp, so forgive the repetativeness of it. The image is watercoloured with some of the buds raised and glossed. The colour scheme is based on her two favourite colours and the sentiment is computer printed and cut using my new nestabilites.

I'm entering this card into A Spoon Full of Sugar's challenge this week - which is Flower Power.

Thanks for looking and happy crafting!
