When you have kids that love their dad so much.................. ESPECIALLY daughters that have their dad's wrapped around their finger........ (notice she thinks that he is reading to her...... while he watches t.v.) Why not have more? Maybe, because we just got done with dental school and were not quite ready?
Or, maybe because we are living with my in laws and don't have a place of our own?
Maybe, because my youngest just barely turned 1?
Or, lets see........because maybe we haven't decided if we are done with school or want to go on for a specialty?
I hate to admit this, but I guess Todd and I are not as smart as we thought we were.
This is the second "whoops" baby out of the three. So, almost 15 weeks along, 5 pounds heavier :( and scared out of my mind- we are planning the arrival of our new baby girl this coming January. Jaisa and her sister will be 2o months apart (though I told Todd it will be over 2 years, just to make it sound not so scary, since he won't think about it until she comes). I know a lot of people do this having kids close together thing, but we just don't, until now. So, if you decide you can't handle a friendship with us (because we might just turn wacky or depressed or emotionally unstable) we completely understand.
(no exaggerating here- we are REALLY THAT scared, and just barely told the rest of our family members)
This was Tyson right after we told him. His exact words "Oh my gosh mom. That is so cool". I asked him how excited he was and he put his arms out wide. He has even come up to me a couple of times in the past few days, kissed my tummy and walked away without saying a word. He says that he wants to take care of the new baby and I take care of Jaisa. Sounds good to me!

PIONEER DAY- 08

What is better than moving to a "new" state and picking up an extra holiday? Todd had Thursday and Friday off from the hospital and we put his time to great use. A girl could get used to this! We had fun swimming at Todd's brother's house. The food and company made it even better! Jaisa wouldn't get out of the water. I'm so glad that she isn't afraid of it (even though I came up short while tossing her in to Todd and she kid of disappeard for while). She just popped up and continued giggling and splashing around. This no fear of the water however, isn't so fun when she is walking around and decides she wants to get in again, by herself. Thank goodness for my "lightning speed", which has saved her on more occasions than I can count. She is the meaning of NO FEAR!

This is what happens when your son watches a show with cowboys! He improvised quite well (since there are not too many "cowboy" clothes laying around our house). My belt from years (and years) back, some camo shorts, and a winter shirt, since this is what cowboys wear, right? After a couple of minutes of him telling me some "tall tales" about his life with horses and cows, he realised that he didn't look too much like one and took it all off. I need to work on being more convincing when he asks me "how do I look, mom?" Hmmmmm.... what character will he be next!

Tyson "supposedly" (according to his swimming certificate) now knows how to:
1. Submerge and retrieve an object
2. Perform bobs with the head fully submerged
3. Front, and back glide
4. Jump into the deep water from the side
Thank you swimming lessons. You have made Tuesday and Thursday mornings more enjoyable for Tyson and his little sister (who liked to watch).

FAREWELL GREEN TEAM

"My first trophy I ever had in the whole wide World"Soccer season is over for our family. It has been a very interesting experience. It is so fun watching a 4 year old little boy, with no prior sport experience, try to play a game of soccer. I must admit that this last game was bitter sweet, because I think that he FINALLY understands what he needs to do to make a goal. He made 2 this last game. That is 2 more than he has made the whole season. He was on fire and didn't quit. It might have been the m&m's I promised him if he made a goal, and it worked like a charm. I should have thought of it earlier! It was so funny to watch all these kids line up after each goal. When the ball would be kicked from a member of the opposite team, they would all crouch or squint their eyes, until they were in the clear, and then it was GAME ON! 10 little kids running, tripping and tackling each other (well, maybe it was just OUR son tackling). They did their final "green team hurrah"! Tyson was more into the treats that were served after, and staring at his trophy. This was a good start to a long road of sports for this guy. Now he wants to play football. In fact, that is what he wants to be when he gets older ( a far cry and much better choice than a doughnut baker, which he was dreaming of being until now).

So, it's no secret that Todd has always wanted a "boys-boy". You know, the ones that skateboard, have bruised up legs and arms from falling off "boy things". The kind that play with bugs, get into mischief, love sports etc. I must admit, that about a year ago, we were getting worried that Tyson might not be that type. He would cry at the drop of a hat. He was having nightmares of bugs, and would FREAK out if he saw one( much like BOTH of his parents). He liked to color and was all around, just a nervous kid. We thought it would be a great idea to start telling him how cool bugs were. We told him how he was going to be the best football player- bedtime stories ensued where there were different scenarios of Tyson being the one to score the game winning point. Of course, that was after Todd told him that he would have to run really fast and knock everyone out of the way. Or, he could just pluck up the players of the other team and throw them to the side (since Tyson was going to be the BIGGEST and STRONGEST). Long story short- I think we might have given him a little too much confidence. This kid is now obsessed with bugs. I have found them in every corner of the house. They could be in jars, boxes or drinking cups. You never know where they will be. I have even found a couple of dead ones sitting in a bowl in the middle of the fridge. He sat mesmerized by the ladybug that was walking along the top of this box.
Now, the problem with sports.............

( He got worn out before the game even started, ramming, running and punching this football thing)

This weekend will be his last soccer game, probably for life. He gets the whole gist of the game. However- the main rule (at least in pee wee soccer) is to keep your hands to yourself. He can't do this. Whenever he is going for the ball, we can pretty much guarantee that someone will be pushed or knocked over (just like dad described in his stories that he should do- except, oh yeah- that is another sport and 10 years from now) So, just like any mother would do, I yell for him to stop touching people and scold him during half time. Just like any dad would do- Todd tells him he is doing great and to keep up the good work. Am I missing something here? Dad doesn't want him to get confused and says it is better for him to be tough, so that when the "real" sports come, he won't be a whimp. Are these my two choices? Either really aggressive and hard core or whimpy? Well, I guess we got the "boys-boy" we always wanted!

SWIMMING LESSONS ARE GOING QUITE SWIMMINGLY-KIND OF

We decided to enroll Tyson in swimming lessons, since he is a "borderline" swimmer. You know, he could swim and play a bit and have a good time, but if it came to saving his own life, not so much. So, since we no longer have a pool for him to practice in, why not do swimming lessons, and put the pressure on someone else to teach him? The "problem" is, he is having a great time and spends a lot of time ON a board, WITH a board or some other floating device. This is great, however- I doubt if he were in "trouble" or didn't have the energy to swim to the side, that a board would magically appear. If that were the case, these swimming lessons would pay of greatly!

NORMAL? Playing pilot/batman with J in his homemade spaceship. NOT NORMAL! This is what Tyson calls his superman eyes, which apparently has something to do with superman, but just what..... I don't know. He said he was cold in Grandma's basement and this was the outfit he decided on to block out the cold, I guess. NORMAL? The sweatbands are lasers, so "I can save people, duh" NOT NORMAL! He came out wearing his batman pajama bottoms, with the matching cape and mask. Then, he adds an old navy hanger? Then comes his woody doll hanging from the hanger hook. I wonder what I would call this superhero?

Notice anything different in this picture? I was finally able to scrape and gather enough straggle hair to make a piggy tail-kind of. I was so excited because headbands are getting awkward with her long straggles (which, I haven't fully figured out if I am supposed to just let them grow free or trim or whatever). Yes, I am that excited about her pig tail that I made a special post just for "IT".

Never really had a reason to put this picture up. As I was going through my picture file, I came across this photo and couldn't stop smiling. This is what happens when you let your 1 year old "hide" with your 4 year old in the clothing rack at Kohls. Obviously, they were having a lot of fun, as evident on both of their faces.

JULY 4TH 2008

What a fun holiday! We took the kids to a ward breakfast this morning and they loved every minute of it. Jaisa was especially into the pancakes, while Tyson was more into the fruit punch. There was a parade for the kids to ride in with their transportation of choice. Tyson decorated his scooter with streamers and a "spin wheel" as he called it, and very slowly moved through the grass with every muscle in his body. I didn't realize that riding a scooter through the grass, might be a little difficult for a 4 year old - my bad. (yes- that is my son wearing a long silver chain with a multi-colored dog tag attached that he won "fishing". Too bad it broke shortly after arriving home, so we won't have the pleasure of fighting him to NOT wear it every day:) Jaisa, as usual was clueless as to what was going on around her- just the way we like it!

Next on the agenda..... tatoos! What is the 4th of July without some patriotic tatoos on your 4 year old's biceps? Too bad those came off in the bath, so we won'thave to try to hide those for church on Sunday:) Todd talked about taking Tys to watch the fireworks at the country club, and got Tyson all hyped up and excited. But, when it came to 8:00pm and the sun was still shining as bright as could be, I just couldn't think of him staying up until the fireworks started (close to 10pm), so I sent him to bed. Luckily, he had totally forgotten about the promise that his dad made to take him. But, after only 20 minutes in bed, Todd began to feel bad that he wasn't following through (the reminder was loud thumps and cracks outside that we thought might remind Tyson, if he wasn't already asleep). So, Todd came to the conclusion to get Ty out of bed and take him to see the fireworks. The excitement that little boy had, was so fun to watch. He threw his covers off, and put his tennis shoes on- running up the stairs as fast as his little legs would carry him! When they got home, we let him do a couple of sparklers, until he felt one of the sparks hit his arm. He was TOTALLY done after that! What a fun day for my little guy. I've waited a long time for him to be old and "mature" enough to enjoy 4th of July festivities, without getting bored or scared.
