CCM #235 Masculine

As it’s Father’s Day on 16th June we are celebrating with a ‘Masculine’ challenge.

Sadly I no longer have a Dad so my card was made for my lovely Son-in-law’s recent birthday.
I used a CD from Peerless Designs. It’s from their Tangletastic range. I am lucky enough to have the 4 CD Set of these CDs.
All of the elements, apart from the plain blue matting layers and the feathers come from this CD.
The Feathers are from Spellbinders, a stamp and die set, which I stamped onto shrink plastic and then shrunk to create the corner piece.
The plain blue layers were created on my pc so that I could pick out the tones from the original artwork in the patterned layers to match,.

CCM #234 Birthdays

Our challenge today at Crafty Cardmakers is a lovely easy one, birthdays. We are happy to see any of your proects to do with birthdays, it doesn’t just have to be a card.

I did, however, go with a card as it coincided nicely with a friend’s birthday.

She is married to a beef farmer and just loves their cows, so I couldn’t resist the fabulous Katzelkraft image of the smiling cow, who looks like she is celebrating something with that cheeky grin.

This was a lovely simple design all on one layer, apart from the pink mirri mat that tones in with her udders and lips, which along with the rest of her were coloured with copics.

The sentiments are a mixture of ones from my stash….. the Smile sentiment I believe was from Crafter’s companion, the ‘it’s’ and the ‘Your Birthday’ are from Clarity.

CCM #233 3-2-1

Our challenge this time is a 3-2-1 challenge. We would like to see your creations using 3 of one thing, 2 of another and 1 of a third. For example, 3 patterned papers, 2 diecuts, 1 image. It would be helpful if you could mention in your post what your 3,2,1s are!

My card was created with a premade paper from Clarity, that’s the one right at the back and one I made myself. But as I had several disasters trying to stamp onto a watercolour card I made myself I did it the opposite way around. I stamped the Katzelkraft Cat and Dogs onto the card first and then made the watercolour background around them with two of Jane Davenport’s Mermaid Markers in blue and yellow and lots of water.

The pattern in the background was made with contrasting oxide inks using a stamp from Chocolate Baroque, I think from their Harlequin Fragments stamp sheet.

The sentiment I created on my pc and added a black box around each of the words. I tore the card to look like the cat had ripped the wallpaper as it slid down the wall!

My 3 are the animals, 2 papers, and 1 sentiment.

DV 201 Pink Birthday

Our challenge over at Dream Valley for the next two weeks is Pink Birthday. We are sponsored by Fabrika Fantasy and we were lucky enough to have some of their gorgeous digis to work with. I chose Elf Fairy for my card.

The ones we had were png files which were on a white background and perfect for this project. I first loaded a background paper from Bearly Mine Designs into my graphics program, and then the png image file was placed over the top of the background paper to form a focal point and the whole thing was printed onto Talens Watercolour paper. It has been sized to fit the 8” square scalloped card which forms the base.

I coloured her with copic markes, and used a posca pen to add the dots to her dress. Just a couple of diecuts for the sentiment and the small floral sprig along with some glossy accents over the water in the watering can and forming splashes on the plant below. This is matted first onto black card and then onto pink metallic card.

CCM #232 Dragons or Other Mythical Creatures

As tomorrow, 23rd April, is St. George’s Day here in England, our challenge today at Crafty Cardmakers is Dragons or Other Mythical Creatures.

I stamped my Dragon from Katzelkraft onto Talens Watercolor Paper, and coloured him in with Inktense pencils. The sentiment is a combination of sentiments from Craftwork Cards. The balloons, also coloured with Inktense are also from Katzelkraft.

I added some sparkle pen to the balloons.

The matting layers are from the Indian Summer paper pad from Clarity as I loved the colours.

My Sister’s birthday tomorrow, and she is always complaining that they don’t do St. George and the Dragon cards for birthdays, so here is the dragon……. St. George thought he was too cute to kill so gave him some balloons to hold instead!

ccm #231 Easter

Our challenge today at Crafty Cardmakers is Easter. We would love to see any Easter inspired project from you. You could go traditional, like I have done or it could involve, bunnies, chicks, eggs, lambs or bonnets. Mary is hosting today’s challenge and she will be choosing the Winner and Top 5.

I actually was going to go down the bunny route, but my back is bad and I didn’t have the energy to search around my craft space for rabbits….. when I looked all I could find was hares, so instead I thought I would go traditional instead.

My card is very simple and involves the lovely Easter Hymn There is a Green Hill Far Away, and a lovely die from Leonie Pujol from her Entwined Crosses range. I just used the basic plain cross in silver glittery card and added an inner frame in black. The same card is used in the back layer of my card, along with a layer of black glittery card as a mat.
