She flies with her own wings

Hello everyone,

The words are : foliage, flowers, weeds, nature, bugsmothsbutterflieswingsnumbersscript, invoice, background stamps, vintage, tan, black, white, brown, distressed, grungy.

and this is what I have made and I think I have used quite a few of the elements mentioned in the words. I just couldn't resist to add a little colour !

If you want to know how I made this you'll have to hop over to YouTube

I have used the following stamps to make this:

I have also used a piece of pattern paper from 7Dots called 'Cloudy' from Nature Walk as the base for my journal page.

She Spread Her Wings with Cracked Glass Technique

Hello everyone. Shanna here and I am so excited to be back sharing my Viva Las VegaStamps creations with you! I decided I wanted to play along with the brand new challenge. Have you seen it yet? If not check it out and play with us!

Now I have a video here so you can check out the process off how I made this card.

I really love the dark tones in this challenge and I went for it. I started with the stamp Nature Collage by Cat Kerr - 20036 with StazOn black ink on some mixed media paper.  Then I stamped the image Waybill Invoice Background - 19416  with some Old Paper Distress Ink. Then I went around the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and then some Hickory Smoke Distress Ink around the outer edges. That way the center really pops.

I sprinkled the cardstock with water droplets to remove some of the ink and dabbed it dry with a paper towel. Then I used Vintage Photo Distress Ink with the stamp Numbers Set - 19659 around the edges. I let it dry fast and then I went to town covering the whole thing with Versamark Ink and then thick embossing powder. I used a heat gun to melt it down. I did this twice maybe even three time for good measure. Once your done melting it all with your heat gun pop it in the freezer for 3-5 minutes. YES THE FREEZER! When you pull it out bend it and watch the magic happen but do this GENTLY. Sometimes pieces can come off and you don't want that. If you don't like the way it cracks you can reheat it down and refreeze it.

I then used Walnut Stain Distress Ink to blend over the cracks so you can see them better. I stamped She Spread Her Wings - 19634 and Dragonfly Wings - 11042 on white cardstock and cut them out. Then I adhered it to my card with some black thread in the background for more texture and pop.

I really hope you like my take on the current Viva Las VegaStamps challenge and my cracked glass technique. It is really fun and I hope you give it a try and share it with us in the Viva LasVegaStamps! Groupies Page.

Also don't forget to subscribe to the YouTube Channel for all the amazing videos the team will be sharing.

Art Journal: Inhale the Future - by Cheetarah Cheda

Hi everyone, today is my first post over at the VLVDT inspiration blog, yay! Very excited to be part of this amazing and creative team. Today I hope to inspire you with a mindful journal page I created to ring in the new year with warmth, a hopeful message and a resolution of some sort.

Feed your Soul.

Inhale the future, exhale the past.

Enlighten!

Do all things with LOVE.

This page was created during the first couple of days of the new year and the process was really meditative. The steps of the process you can see below and I used stamps from VLVS! plate 1475 which has wonderful stamps to incorporate in mindful, meditative art journal pages.
Grab yourself a cuppa and read along how I made the above page.
A list of all the stamps and materials used is at the end of the tutorial.

The base of the journal page is an A5 piece of Neenah Classic Crest paper which I have distressed with yellow, orange and red distress inks to get an ombre effect. I coated it with a layer of Golden Gesso from the crafters workshop. Use only a little so that the colors shine through it but you still have a protective base to work on. Then I got out the sunburst stencil and fluffy modeling paste and went to work. I didn't want perfect rays so I applied it a bit messily. That way you can see a bit of structure which makes it more interesting. I sprayed some perfect pearls, dylusions and mica spray to get color and shimmer on the modeling paste.
I chose the yoga lotus stamp to place in the circle. I noticed that there was still too much space between the start of the rays and the stamp so I placed the CW Balzer Zia mask in the middle and rubbed perfect pearl red lustre over it to create the halo and extend the inner rays.

The Yoga Lotus stamps fits in the perfectly in the inner circle. I went to stamp on the words inhale the future, exhale the past along the rays with various colors staz on ink. Stamped the double tree and lotus flower stamp on a separate piece of paper and worked on placing.

The definitive lay out was chosen and I carefully adhered my cut and colored pieces. I used Spectrum Noir's red sparkle pen for the lotus flower and on the edges of the cut out sentiments/words. Stamped those on yellow paper to balance out the color scheme. Feed your soul sentiment is from another plate but definitely works in this layout. Stamped that on an excess piece of "spray box" paper. I used miracle tape to adhere these, it's very convenient to use! I found Donna Downey's enlighten stencil very fitting for the page, so I penned that in with a faber castell artist pitt marker. The little light bulb is a perfect exclamation point!

The page was done! I trimmed the page to fit in my new spiral bound journal with black pages. I often do very colorful work so I like the fact that the journal automatically matted the adhered page.

Art Journal Page - "Dreamers Only" by Jenn Engle

Today I have an art journal page with process video to share. I am just obsessed with this entire new plate of stamps by Cat Kerr.  I got these new stamps and was so inspired that my head was spinning with ideas and I didn't know where to start. Don't you love when that happens?!

Around that same time, I got some Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and this page was born! All stamps I used will be linked and my process video is down below.

STAMPS I USED:

I used the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to make a very dreamy watercolor background. After that, the page came together so quickly and easily.

Thanks so much for looking!

Whovian Mail Art Monday

Hello Again Everyone!

Tera Here
Welcome Back for another

Mail Art Monday with Viva Las VegaStamps!

Some of you may know that I am a Doctor Who fan!
If you are a "Whovian" too, then hopefully you will enjoy this envelope too!

It's also, super easy to create!
I only used 4 stamps (but you could even just rock it with the main two if you wanted!)

Stamps Used:

Exterminate!

To start I stamped Victoria and the the Dalek in black momento ink. I then masked it off immediately.  I used a business card to mask of the address box, and a traced around it with a black marker.  Under that I stamped the "exterminate" stamp.

The red ink for the background was sponged on using red distress ink.  I stamped the two texture stamps for the background in the same red so they would just add a light texture.  I used white gel pen to add a little more texture with a few random scribbles.

I removed all of the masks, then used a variety of alcohol markers to color my main stamps, and used a black micron to add a bit of "stitching" around the label.

Handmade Phone Case and Key Chain by Susanne

Hi my dear crafty friends!

It's Susanne writing today and I'd like to share a homemade phone case. I used some gelli printed white KraftTex and the "Whimsical Horned Boy" as my main image. KraftTex is a rugged paper that looks and feels like leather, but sews and cuts just like fabric. Some of you might also know it as SnapPap.

I cut my KraftTex matching my mobile phone (plus some seam allowance) and added some texture with the "Waybill/Invoice Background" and the "Number Strip" using different inks (Memento Luxe, StazOn). The main image is stamped on tissue paper and adhered with Gel Medium. I wanted a very good impression, so I decided not to stamp on the rough surface of the gelli printed KraftTex.

I added some stamping on the back, as well (Radioactive) before I sew it together. I cut a whole with my Crop-A-Dile in the top left corner to add a homemade charm. I made it with white Shrink Foil and the "Whimsical Face".

Finally I had some KraftTex left, so I decided to make a little key chain, too. I embossed the "Whimsical Key Man" with WOW! Primary Ebony before I sewed everything together.

Thanks for stopping by today!
xx Susanne.

Foodie

Hello everyone,

and welcome to my first blogpost for 2017 ! I am happy that I am still on the DT team and I look forward to sharing my projects with you !

For today I have made a simple postcard:

I started with a piece of water colour paper sized 6" x 4". I coloured it lightly with watercolours and stamped the macarons on it. I did stamp them separately too on more watercolour paper.
Underneath the macarons on the card I added some shading with a darker colour. Next I watercolored my macarons. Don't they look tasty ! After colouring and drying I cut them out and adhered them to the card on top of the stamped image. I added the sentiment which I clear embossed because it goes a little blacker then. Lastly I added the dots around the edge of the card.

I used the following stamps:
