Celebrity Judges- Crumb [02 Jan 2002|07:30pm]
(lessons learned dating a scenester. fuck you and your mop haircuts.)

"Do you know so-and-so?"
"No I don't know what's-his-name."
Please leave me alone
I'm dropping out, you're dropping names.

Everyone who was anyone was there
and they all had something to share
About so-and-so, it went on and on
and I'm in the corner speechless.

Introductions were made
Reputations were at stake
Humorous cracks became personal attacks
Behind the backs of all those speechless

Every time I tried to wait up for you at night
Every time I tried to do something right
You were being known for being known
and I'm in bed speechless

you let me down.

Need a point of reference?
You might see a dentist.
You keep talking all that crap,
Your teeth will end up in your lap.

Celebrity judges
hold their half assed grudges.
All their hutches box their rabbits
They're not friends, they're habits.

She Came On- Super Deluxe [02 Jan 2002|07:16pm]
(this is what it was like for me my whole first year of college, woo!)

she came on like a storm
from the blind-side of a memory
soft and warm, left me seasick on the shore
she believed she could prove it was her love that I needed
but I left her for someone I wanted more

always using clever words to hide the truth
communicating in the ignorance of youth
still I believe that me delusions
are realities within confusion
I accept the consequence for my lack of innocence.

she was wrong, sunshine bright
flaunting careless situations
guarded wit always answering just because
wild cliché, I'm discreet
waking up from perfect dreaming
when I realize I want what never was

always using clever words to hide the truth
communicating in the ignorance of youth
still I believe that me delusions
are realities within confusion
I accept the consequence for my lack on innocence

Why do I just refuse to disagree
with what I believe?
I found myself wandering aimlessly
and calling it freedom.

She came on like a storm
from the blind side of a memory
soft and warm,
left me seasick on the shore.
yeah she believed she could prove
it was her world that i needed
but I left her for someone I wanted more.

I wanted more.
I wanted more.

Liz Phair- 6'1 [30 Dec 2001|05:22pm]
I bet you fall in bed too easily
With the beautiful girls who are shyly brave
And you sell yourself as a man to save
But all the money in the world is not enough

I bet you've long since passed understanding
What it takes to be satisfied
You're like a vine that keeps climbing higher
But all the money in the world is not enough
And all the bridges blown away keep floating up

Its cold
And rough
And I kept standing 6'1"
Instead of 5'2"
And I loved my life
And I hated you

Its cold, out there
And rough
And I kept standing 6'1"
Instead of 5'2"
And I loved my life
And I hated you

Someone Saved My Life Tonight- Elton John [30 Dec 2001|05:14pm]
(this ones for you, asshole.)

When I think of those East End lights, muggy nights
The curtains drawn in the little room downstairs
Prima Donna lord you really should have been there
Sitting like a princess perched in her electric chair
And it's one more beer and I don't hear you anymore
We've all gone crazy lately
My friends out there rolling round the basement floor

And someone saved my life tonight, sugar bear
You almost had your hooks in me didn't you dear?
You nearly had me roped and tied
Altar-bound, hypnotized...
Sweet freedom whispered in my ear
You're a butterfly
And butterflies are free to fly
Fly away, high away, bye bye.

I never realized the passing hours of evening showers
A slip noose hanging in my darkest dreams
I'm strangled by your haunted social scene
Just a pawn out-played by a dominating queen
It's four o'clock in the morning
Damn it listen to me good
I'm sleeping with myself tonight
Saved in time, thank God my music's still alive

And I would have walked head on into the deep end of the river
Clinging to your stocks and bonds
Paying your H.P. demands forever
They're coming in the morning with a truck to take me home
Someone saved my life tonight, someone saved my life tonight
Someone saved my life tonight, someone saved my life tonight
Someone saved my life tonight
So save your strength and run the field you play alone.

And someone saved my life tonight, sugar bear
You almost had your hooks in me didn't you dear?
You nearly had me roped and tied
Altar-bound, hypnotized...
Sweet freedom whispered in my ear
You're a butterfly
And butterflies are free to fly
Fly away, high away, bye bye.

Subterranean Homesick Alien- Radiohead [30 Dec 2001|05:10pm]
The breath of the morning
I keep forgetting.
The smell of the warm summer air.

I live in a town
where you can't smell a thing,
you watch your feet
for cracks in the pavement.

Up above
aliens hover
making home movies
for the folks back home,

of all these weird creatures
who lock up their spirits,
drill holes in themselves
and live for their secrets.

They're all uptight, uptight,
uptight, uptight,
uptight, uptight.

I wish that they'd sweep down in a country lane,
late at night when I'm driving.
Take me on board their beautiful ship,
show me the world as I'd love to see it.

I'd tell all my friends but they'd never believe me,
They'd think that I'd finally lost it completely.
I'd show them the stars and the meaning of life.
They'd shut me away.
But I'd be alright, alright,
I'd be alright,
I'm alright.

I'm just uptight, uptight,
uptight, uptight,
uptight, uptight,
uptight, uptight,
uptight.
