It was ok, but it had a monkey!

    pseudo misanthropological research assignment
Back in high school, I had a friend named Joy. she was really nice and we got a long pretty well. I switched schools for my senior year because I couldn't stand the fettid dung-pile of a school I had been going to. a few weeks into the school year, I run into Joy in the halls, which was a surprise because neither knew that the other had switched to the same school. we kinda lost touch part way through the year and didn't run into each other again. I find out about 2 months ago that she's been living in the bay area for about 3 years, with a 1 year break to live in Oregon. we kept trying to meet up at various clubs, but could never manage to both make it to the same club.( read on )

    today was interesting.
I spent all afternoon driving all over the city with Georgia shooting video for an audition tape for a SF cooking show she wants to audition for. we got a bunch of natural semi-candid footage of meat and veggie shopping, and general cooking/family-history dialogue. The hardest part was shooting a bit where she talks about her family (the show wants Native SF folks), which has been in SF for 4 generations.
She worked out a little script, but unfortunately her recitation of it had the faux inflections that typify public-access cable. So I put on a hat that I've never worn before, the Director's hat. it took a little work to get her comfortable saying the lines without pauses, but natural so it doesn't sound like every comma and period is a question mark.
"My great-grandparents moved here in the late 1800s? I was named after my great-grandmother? Georgia? My grandmothers both kept gardens?" etc.
But after a little bit, we got her into the right mindset where she was talking like she was telling a friend about her family's past. I also did a bit of work for just coaxing interesting cooking/family info out of her as we were driving around. it was all quite interesting. it takes a bit of work to get someone to not think about the camera, and just be themself.

    so it's been a week...
last week was spent mostly on tying up loose ends for Assimilate on friday.
you see Austin Powers has recently lost his mojo, and I made a point of kicking his ass into gear so as to not mess up annother event. Plus the space belongs to a friend of mine, and if things went poorly, I loose it as an option for future events. so I'd been busy finalizing details, dealing with promotions, ensuring web sites get updated, etc. I also went out to BAGG cuz a friend from out-of-town was going to be there, and Code on Thursday. Code was followed by a Baconing that went til 7am.
I had to get up at noon the next day (5 hours of sleep) to start setting up for assimilate. After hanging 90% of the sound curtains, setting up the PA, rigging lights, hanging a projection surface, moving couches, positioning sound baffles, configuring the video projector, and performing sound check, I was ready to go to bed. I had started getting a headache, but ibuprofen and sushi took care of that.
Assimilate was a lot of fun, except for the BDSM b-day ceremony thing that went on for about 10-15 minutes longer than it needed to. then I started feeling really shitty. I got hit by the chills and the shakes, and my headache returned. I had to duck out early. I really really didn't want to. I spent most of the time since then asleep under a pile of blankets.
I'm almost all better now, but I'm gonna have to miss She Said on account of illness. I'm really bummed about that.

    Thurs:
DNA, then abducted by the terrorist organization known as "crackhos", who forced me to cook bacon.
    Friday:
still held hostage. more bacon duty. Forced to help unbraid one of the terrorist's hair while watching Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Space Ghost, and Sealab
    Saturday:
released by terrorists. Temple of Atonement thing. MissJen gives me a cool monkey toy. I play with my monkey a bunch in the car.
    Sunday:
Bridgette talks me into going to the DNA for LUXT show. show was ok. afterwards, plans are made for big caravan to go bowling in colma. caravan leader drives all the way up to near Maritime Hall to get on 80 to 101 South. this was stuipd since 1 block from the DNA is a 101S entrance. once on 280, we take the wrong exit and wind up driving down El Camino Real. we turn around at 380 and miss the correct exit. screw you guys, I'm going home.

Many people have placed on my shoulders the responsibility of making sure Bridgette gets out more often, since I live nearby.

    I am very tired.

    I am a dirty whore
who had a typo in a tag hence the previously chopped post.
once again, I cheated on netik. he even chastized me about cooking bacon without him at DG, then an hour later, there I am in the kitchen of annother cooking bacon. This time I headed back with Bridgette and Mia (who live a few blocks away) for some hot, greasy bacon.

I was unfaithful and woke up in some girl's bed...
that's right, I cheated on netik again - I cooked bacon for a group without him.
as for where I woke up, I'll get to that.
After the assimilate party-thing on friday, my baconeering skills were requested. Myself and 2 others went back to the dwelling of the lovely hosteses, J and S. 3 pounds of bacon were consumed. we ended up in S's room watching Space Ghost, Brak Show, Zim, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force on her computer, and engaged in general mayhem. the other roommate and her companion, who avoided all the shenanegans, figured we must have been on shrooms for all the laying around and giggling that went on. yes, we were rowdy and goofy and random tickling and ass-slapping fights broke out occasionally. apparently this is what happens when you OD on bacon and follow it up with a couple hits of Brak.
At some point while watching Zim, I passed out on the futon in S's room. I woke up a little later when the other 2 guests decided they should go home and get some sleep. I was too tired to think about dealing with busses, and I knew there was no way I could talk either of the hostesses into a ride home since they were as tired as I. I stayed on the futon for a little bit before deciding I would wake up in a world of hurt if I slept like that. So I told S she was getting some company in her huge bed. my head hit the pillow and sleep hit my head a few seconds later. I think this was around 10 am. I woke up around 2.
We formulated a plan for the bacon fat. we would pour it into one of the hospital biohazard bags that they had (one of them works for a hospital) and leave it sitting on an SUV somewhere.
They gave me a ride home late in the afternoon, and as I was stepping out of the car, the evening was referred to as a "bacon play party" - I laughed so hard I fell on my ass in the middle of the street.
I had planned on going to netik's party, but I set my alarm and forgot to arm it, so my hour nap turned into a 11 hour one.
