Bio:	This is me, and this is my journal. I'm eD. yes, eD, just like that. Why? Ccuz i said so. I'm a 2nd year at UCLA. I study linguistics and anthropology. I am NOT an archaeologist, moron, nor do I study "the history of words". Mine is a quantitate and qualitative study, an approach to the study of language as it is situated in human activity, a study more reminiscent of Goodwin and Duranti, than of Chomsky and the MIT school of minimalist syntactical theory. Bach above all other music on the face of the earth, then mozart, then vivaldi, and it all comes down from there. I like ska. Not the poppy annoying crap little random ska kiddies run in place to, no, the real shiznit, real music, music with soul and rhythm from Jamaica, real authentic 60's ska with a beat you can feel. I also enjoy rocksteady and reggae, some dub, some dancehall. I like 2tone ska as well, some punk, some Oi. Other music im into includes underground hip hop (J5, dilated peoples, the roots), stax, 60's northern and motown soul, 50's r&b;, traditional stuff in Spanish like Atahualpa Yupanki, traditional Irish Music (I don't care if I'm not Irish), and other stuff. I like languages. The very existnece and creation of them, the idea of people using them, the culutural baggage associated with them. I enjoy seeing them in play, in the interaction of people, I hate to see them all static-like and partitioned like labeled sections of a preserved cadaver. Neo-latin fascinates me in this way. So do language in the process of change, like many of the lingua francas now in existence under the conditions of post-colonialism and neo-imperilistic pressure. yeah. yeah, thats what language is suppose to do anyways, right?, change to the needs and conditions of its users, the ultimate in utilitarian design. s'too bad some people think theirs is better. guess its true that "a language is a dialect with an army." screw you if you think your language is better, and screw you if you think some people "can't talk." Other stuff? Im religious (oh no). Catholic (*cires of disbelief from the audience).and heres the kicker, i go to church voluntarily. Yeah, deal with it. Outside of this one time here on this Bio, I keep it personal, so i dont mention it, and if i dont mention it, then it doesn't offend you, and if it doesn't offend you, then do me the courtesy of not offending me back. If you think something i feel strongly about is religiously based, you're wrong. I'm not a represssive relgious bastard, and I dont use religion as a pretext for anything, ever. I dont judge by religion and/or sex/sexual preference, only by intelligence (or stupidity haha). I avoid at all costs justifying anything with religion. I can do that in a secular manner, and quite well, so that I shall do. got a problem with it, tell me in person. Other stuff?
