Alien Secretions...not something that would be a recomended drink MY mom, but yet I drink them. Ironic that tonight, I hear 2 of the tracks I used in "Quit Yer Fuckin Whining!" (EV 020202A if you wanna order it) at QCL tonight. They are hot off the press tracks for me, so I can't recall their names right now, but it was good to know the DJ is at least keeping current.
Glad #Mike drove tonight. Too bad I can't remember who it was that was turning 21 tonight. Such young people they are. Which reminds me...somewhere in the archives I have a track with detailed instructions for how to farm humans for consumption. I'm in the mood to hear it, but can't remember who it is or where it is, let alone what medium it is on....maybe I should just sleep....

WOOO HOO!!! I got my monitor working again so I can hear what I am doing again. It's so nice to know instead of trying to sneak tracks in with others. I'm listening to this evening's work and it sounds excellent. Sure it's a whole bunch of house, but it still sounds better than what was coming out before. I'm going to have to go back and try some of the other mixes I did over the last few months later.
In the mean time, surfing around, this made me laugh for a while

1:51 am - How does this happen?
|
Today's no power, backup generator, phones shot to heck, servers beeping, ice, snow, rain, more ice and less power day has kind of upset me....and to top it all off... I worked 8-8, and for some reason I volunteered to be on call for the weekend. Now that doesn't make much sense at all. Well I guess it make some sense when you take into consideration that I will not be able to drive to Rochester tonight, and as a result I will NOT be driving anywhere between Utica and Syracuse either since I honestly do not feel it is in my best interest to do so this weekend. Besides, I am sure that I will have more fun if I just go for a full weekend in another seven days.
Well I am still tired...spun some new tracks I got. Wasn't too pleased with a few of what I had tonight, and got kind of bored. Jakatta "American Beauty" will be fun to play with. Darren Christian should be a nice addition too. I just need to check em again when I feel like it. I need real music right now. Not this stuff I love most days...
No power also means no sump pump. No sump means water in the basement. That is not cool at all. Oh well...that's a claim....
Since there isn't any power, there isn't any heat at home. No heat means no heat tape. No heat tape means cold snakes. Cold snakes can mean dead snakes...cept the ones hibernating. Solution. Move Ani, Amidala and Lil Rebel to someplace worm. How was it implemented? All three of them are sitting on top of some web servers in the data center. Nice warm data center. There is power here now, but I'm going to wait till the morning to get the snakes back. I really need to do some cramming soon too. I wish I knew why I didn't have any motivation to do that for the past several months...I really need to get cracking.. (Well not CRACKING, but working on this)
These past few days have made me a bit stressed. Mike the Canadian thinks I should get rid of the snakes unless I want to be single for ever...only thing is...I love my snakes...but I really do need to get rid of some of them...but I just don't want to...
It's been a long time since I've been high....I think I need to....I think I will....

12:19 am - Buy all the friggin crap you need!!!
|
There are a lot of things out there that you should have that you might not. There are some things that are needed that are not owned. That is why you are just getting home and are tired and pissed off. I needed sleep. I am getting some in like on damn minute. I did NOT need freezing rain to kill the power for the DC 15 minutes before I was supposed to go home. Sure I'm not on call, but the guy that was on call lives in Battavia. The guy is in Battavia because the guy that should be on call has pneumonia. So I can't argue that it is probably a logical thing to have be respond since I was already in the non illumated building. So here is Ghil and I again. Same damn center, same damn issues, same damn servers, same dam inconveniant time and everything. Well at least we had learned from the last time and getting the servers switched over to backup power happened in a much smoother fashion, but still...I AM FUCKING TIRED!!!! I am royally aggrivated. Tomorrow I have to be out the door by 7:30 and I am supposed to go out with my brother for a little close-enough-to-your-real-birthday-partying and then saturday morning I'm supposed to head off to Canasota....WEEEEE....then back here on sunday, sleep, and the week starts...
I can't describe how exhausted I am...almost too tired to get up and sleep....too tired to care about spelling either...

I'm pleased with myself. I have acquired another 4 domains today. They shal be my own personal slaves. It looks like that evil domain I bought a few years ago (the Media Network) is now fully available for registration. I hope the name brings better success to the ass that buys it next. Oh well...here come more hosting fees. Which reminds me, if I move, then I can get some other broadband service. Looks like the wireless isn't coming to my neighborhood for quite some time.
Oh yeah...and AOL sucks...

Well it's January 29th, and it is my birthday!
How am I celebrating? Well last night the guys ended up throwing a little party for me at midnight with the beer and all. Today I had the pleasure of waking up with the ill effects of last night. I am feeling very young at heart with a very old body. Actually the body isn't so old, I'm just tired. I really need to reorganize my daily activities. The fact that I am almost always guaranteed to be up at midnight and always up by 7 (except mornings like today) 5 days a week with a crammed weekend don't help. I said I was going to start doing things for ME and not anyone else a while back, but more and more often, it is clear I am not doing that as I scramble to keep everyone else happy.
All in all, these first 25 years on this planet have been pleasant ones. I have my own business, I have no outstanding debts, heck I've even taken care of repaying all those expenses incurred at college. I've loved, I've been hurt. I'm wiser, but not really any more mature. I am pleased with my position in life, but realize there is more to be had. My only real complaint is this darn being single thing. I find it amusing that people have asked me why I'm single. Being single definitely has it's advantages though. If I head out on a Friday, and don't come back till Sunday, I don't have to explain where I was. Not that I don't always go to the same cities on weekends.
Well I'm waiting for Whitey to stop over for treats. I'm looting and pillaging gold and vanilla code. I'm a boring kid.
I wanted to see my parents last weekend, but being on call has changed that to Friday. Then Saturday I'm off to see Terry and his wife Tanya. Hopefully I'll get a chance to catch up Joy while I'm up there too because I think she is the coolest thing since aluminum foil. Joy is another example of a perfectly cool lass that's not "on the market" so to say...
Side note: if the other machine gives me one more buffer underrun, I'm gonna slap it to next Tuesday
Where was I? Oh yes...that brings me to the whole story of me being 24. Every woman I've met this year has neatly fitted into one of these descriptions. Cool cunning and cute....but lives too far away Intelligent sexy and sincere....but taken single, sarcastic and adorable....but boring, irritating or dumb as poo on a poo sandwich...
it's ok, I really am not making that big of a deal of my birthday anyway. That's my fault. I didn't even order the sandwiches from Carnegie Deli yesterday. I had to do it today so I can get them tomorrow. If sandwiches from NYC don't get you excited...nothing will....

Wow, it looks as if I have made absolutely no measurable progress as far as find a cure to being single. My efforts seem to be in vain.
In the mean time, Sherm continues to entertain the poo out of me late last night with graphic descriptions I would not normally expect. It was another night of phone calls and beeping from the damn phone. From 4AM till about now, it's been ringing or beeping at least once an hour. I am so friggin tired.
On the up side, I spent a few hours after I got home last night working on a Goa CD I'm making. I hope the lovely ladie I'm making it for appreciates it. I think I have the play list all done. I just need to try it out a few times before I comit it to a disc. I also discovered "Dancing with Kadafi" is nearly impossible to mix next to anything. I tried it on the in and out and I just couldn't make it sound right for me.
So here I am, in an office. Sitting around doing really nothing except listening to Radio One which is almost always playing something good on Friday and Saturday nights at this time. I really should crack the books....

See the point being is that I am disliking this week of on call work. After getting 577 alerts between 10 AM on monday and right now, I am a bit tired of hearing beep beep beep beep from the damn phone. The worst part about this is most of them were all planned work, so it wasn't like I had to go into the office or do much work at all, but still this kind of stuff happens while I normally sleep. 2AM to 6AM, I like to sleep...especially on a thursday. 577 message alerts...yep...ick. Right now, I'm going to enjoy some never seen before Sifl and Olly action. That's never seen before by me. It aired on MTV, I just missed it. Since the show was canceled sometime in late 1999, I haven't had a chance to see new ones until now.
It's a good thing I guess. Well the printer I got seems to be ok. It's not great or anything to jump up and down about, but I just needed something for quick prints and stuff since anything important is still outsourced. It has to be. I would rather not have an HP LaserJet 8500 DN sitting in the corner of my room when I can have this little dinky epson that weighs at least 100 pounds less. I'm sure an 8500 on top of my Vectra would mean I would have to buy another one...and 2 24 port hubs, and a server.
My new glass is coming along quite nicely.
Hibernation starts in just a few days. Every one of the snakes is going down this year...except for Anni, Amidala, and the yet-to-be-named and i-need-a-good-new-home other Oakatee. 6 mouths I don't have to feed for 2 months...
Ok, now I should go sleep since it's almost midnight...or I'll just randomly rome LJ posting idiot comments again...I rarely have much of value when I post...
I'm in such a cres mood right now...

The Friend Speech.
Need I say more?
Well, it wouldn't be much of a rant if I didn't say more, so I guess I will.
Nothing in the annals of manhood is as humiliating, as dejecting, as downright cruel as the words "Let's just be friends."
Friends, huh? Such an unassuming word.
When used properly.
In this evil context, it's come to mean "Back off, loser, I don't ever want to see you again." It's a kiss off, a brush off, a blow off. Whatever romantic ideas you had about her are, in a word, off. And you know what, ladies? It didn't take us much longer than puberty to figure it out.
Then, the member of the erstwhile coven looks at you in disbelief when you say no. As if I looked at you across a crowded room and said to myself: "Oh yeah, baby, I want to be your friend." And, silly me, I always take my friends out, buy them flowers, and try to kiss them in the car when I drop them off.
It's like losing at "Wheel of Fortune," on NATIONAL TV, and then, as one of your going-away prizes, they give you...
THE HOME VERSION OF WHEEL OF FORTUNE!
As if you'd EVER want anyone in your house to even MENTION that game after you went on TV and lost to some housewife from Des Moines on this puzzle:
D _ _ (thing that a cat hates)
Ladies, please. You've already dumped us, made us feel like crap, and all that not-so-good stuff. Don't insult us by asking us to hang out with you and listen to stories about guys you're dating who are apparently better than us. By the time you even get to the word "friend," we're zoned out trying to figure out how to tell our friends that WE dumped YOU, or counting up all the money we wasted on you.
And then there's the dim-witted cousin of "Let's be friends," the even more irritating "You're a nice guy, but..."
NOTHING good ever comes after the word "but." Run. Run away. Stay away from evil friend woman. If I'm so nice, what could possibly be so bad that it counters the effects of my niceness?
You know what? I don't want to know. None of us want to know. However, women choose to keep talking after the word "but." And this is basically the part where she does the emotional and egotistical equivalent of de-pantsing you in the middle of gym class on a cold day.
And unlike the fairer sex, we don't cry. We don't call our friends. We get mad. VERY mad. At the girl, at her Mom, at everyone without a penis. Then you know what happens? A nice girl comes along. A real sweetie. Unfortunately, she gets to meet you right after that last woman told you how "nice" you were. So, you treat her like crap. And she stops trusting guys. She tells a friend. You find another woman who tells you you're a nice friend. Then another sweetie. The cycle repeats. They're pissed. We're pissed. Then both sexes get to sit around and complain about how the other sucks. And that's the hellish world of singles I live in. Sound familiar? Yeah, because you're probably one of the friends I bitch with.
Point being, if you're friends, you don't have to label it. It just happens. So stop the speech. You're not fooling anyone. Really. Oh yeah, and please don't tell me I'm nice.

Well the Simpsons are always entertaining, that's why I'm watching them right now. Other than that I'm lazying around thinking about food and perhaps a trip to Rochester tonight. I was kind of hoping to have been awake earlier, but hey....Last night I went to see PJ. Always going well he is. A new house he now lives. Albeit rented.
But what really was the show stopper was my appearance at Ricks. Poof! Toasted, not fried.
Well I finally got around to doing some work I had promised a few to do. The Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sealab 2021 and (another 4) Rurouni Kenshin are all done. Corn, Rick and Q should be pleased about that.
My quest for a new high capacity sleeve case continues. I'm also recalling that I need to get to Terrapin station so I can check on getting a suitable lamp oil and to take care of the show I've got coming to me. I should also check my messages. I would rather get the oil at moon magic, but I'm not in the mood to drive an hour and a half today just to get a few bottles of oil...although she does have the best.
I continue to battle with internal DHCP issues which is really making KFTP, RDP and ICA connections a little less persistent than I am used to. I've been pondering using The Linux Router Project to take care of this. I have a maching I might be able to use, and I have spare NICs. The machine has a bad on board disk controller, so it can't be used for much. Either that or I could geek out and go switched. Or I could go to Rochester, yes, finalize another batch and go to Rochester...

Ok, well I'm tired as heck for some reason...I think the lack of sleep is bad for me. I managed to figure out a few things.
I need to get some very large CD Bins (like 400 CD boxes) by .... SPRING otherwise I'm not going to have any room for more. The case I got from CompUSA with the "free if you think $12 is a steal" slim cases and double disk sleeves. But hey, I was desperate to get some of the disks that are just sitting around in stacks is not so cool...
I need to kick ass for this exam....I need to send myself a reminder to schedule it tomorrow...doing that now...
Gotta keep February 9th free for Oracle at "658 Main". I learned that many people call "658 Main" "King Snake". It was a very brief phone call, but it was explained that the "King Snake" actually closed and moved. Then it was revealed that it's not the same owner or anything. I concluded that a bunch of drunks (sorry Trout...and I'm sure B is involved here too) had their bar close. Then another one opened. Then they just started using the old name "King Snake" at a new bar "658 Main" that had nothing to do with the old one. People in Buffalo are weird. They ask me what a good radio station is and I tell them I don't listen to Buffalo radio because it is that bad...unless you can get a station in Canada...but where I live the static is annoying enough to make you turn it off after about 5 minutes.
So the whole point was on Feb 9, Oracle and Soma will both be there...again...for a kick ass show on saturday...not wednesday like today. When I have to work....so once again February 9th of this YEAR 2002, Oracle and DJ Soma at 658 Main....which some of you know as "King Snake"....I don't get it....but there's your FRIGGIN plug.
Ordered new cables for the network...or at least my stuff...the others will have to get new ones themselves if they want new ones. I'm going for a whole color coded motif here. I wanted orange green and yellow, but they didn't have the orange I needed so I had to use red, yellow, and green....I hope, I gave em a few choices and said whatever....but I feel like I was just bitching, but I wasn't really, it was more of just rambling than anything else.
I just started wondering where that steno I had in high school with the ren and stimpy stickers on it and the weird ass brain excerpts and random thoughts were kept. That might be an interesting thing to incorporate into some twisted script on one of those domains I just got...which means ..UG 3 more servers to deal with...and pay for...and probably make less of a profit than I should...in this time of recession...um...what recession? I'm always poor :-)
Seriously though, I got a few of those annoyingly large lookatwhatwedidwithyourmoneyyouinvestingassthathopeswedonthaveallyourfundstturnuplikeenron reports that I need for this IRS hoo ha today. Looked at it very quickly and said..hmmm...that's not good...If I correctly planned my tax year I would be looking at $25-$50 bucks, yeah it's small, but I've already bought my rebate crap when everyone else is getting drunk on new years...and it's not on credit. So HA!!! But since I know I did not correctly estimate my earnings this year, I have no clue what it will be, but I am expecting that this new tax bracket I'm in will leave me owing this year....YEAH!!! I'll have to pay federal...unless I can find some extra loophole...
Well now that I realize there are no backup jobs on the starmax even configured, I should probably go fix that...or make a note of it and go get some sleep....
....
well...
....None of the data I really need is on a hard drive that will crash...
There, now I've extra jinxed myself. Now...while I sleep, a power supply will blow, catch fire and destroy everything I own...except for my Afleck duck and the Penguin that (whatever you call that noise a penguin makes)s when you squeeze it. I own a lot of strange shit....
I want to buy more strange shit...
I need to buy more socks...they seem to evaporate....
I need to go to bed.....

What in the hell is going on? So here's my evening, I'm sitting here at my desk doing stuff, and all of a sudden I hear banging around and screaming, then glass breaking. So I get up and rush downstairs to see what the heck is going on. Well Mr. S has Mr. R in a headlock pinned on our living room floor. Not really knowing what's going on, I assume they're just screwing around, but still I yell out a "HEY!!! Don't go breaking my shit!" (or something like that)
I look at Don, then Scott and they give me a look like "uh...they are fighting in our living room" so I give back a "Well do something"
In a moment of methodical movement we converge and pry Mr. S. off or Mr. R. I'm not sure what happened yet, but whatever it was, I can clearly see they in a very aggressive mood. They're yelling at each other, and I'm starting to get pissed off since I still don't know what is broken, I don't know what this is all about, last thing I knew these were two friends.
So anyway, everyone else throws Mr. R out of my place, I've now ruined a shirt I had only worn once before, there is broken glass somewhere in the room....and I'm wearing socks...which is also freaking me out....actually the thought of wearing socks with broken glass in the room, and no shoes anywhere near, and the vacuum in the basement was freaking me out...luckily I snap back to the real issue and realize Mr. S is bleeding. S tells R go home and to pack all his stuff, get out of his house before he gets home.
R on the way out has the nerve to ask me if he can borrow money. I looked him dead in the eye and said "You've got a lot of fucking nerve. Dude, I don't even want to see or hear you."
S goes off to the hospital for stitches and that leaves some girl I've seen before but can't remember her name, Scott and Don. So I find out exactly what caused this. Apparently R stole a significant amount of cash from S, and when it was mentioned, the conversation escalated, and R threw S across the room. Why R brought a knife and came over to MY house to deal with this I will never know.
So as far as I know R is somewhere out there with no money and no home and is hundreds of miles from any friends since we've all written him off. OK, so I out to the car for a sec to get my other case of CDs and guess who wanted a ride to the train station and money? Yes R.
Bla bla bla what the lemme get some cash fuck off, find your own damn cash lemme get a ride, lemme get some damn sleep which I would have already been having if you hadn't fucked shit up lemme--- At this point I change my stance and stops for a second... I'm sorry dude. Go
All I have to say is: DAMNIT!!! I need rest!!!! I moved to Amherst because I LIKE living in the burbs where it is quiet and peaceful. I'll be DAMNED if some weirdo is gonna try to stop me.

What a fun night. After an all nighter Friday with the stupid power going out and all the servers hurdling quickly after, then coming up dirty, I am still not caught up on sleep. I did however go out last night to Comix Cafe, I don't remember the comic's name, but he was pretty funny. A little crass and non PC, but sometimes that's the best kind. Oh well.
For now I'm going to enjoy being sick with a headache and sore throat and stuff head. This really sucks. I hope this only lasts a few days. It's not that bad yet, but this could turn into hell or go away. We'll know in the morning...
I've managed to put a lot of my videos to disk, and I've got many more to do. Maybe I can free a lot more space before I go to be tonight. I'm going to need it. At least I got some medicinal items today...
