so, awhile ago, i was reading CommodoreVic's journal. he posted something, i don't recall if it was some sort of article or forward or what, but it suggested that to keep the post office in business, you take all of those nasty creditcard junkmail solicitations, and stick whatever in the postage paid envelope and send them back. just be sure there's nothing with your name or address on whatever it is you stick in the envelope. i just took some of the junk they sent me. i wrote little notes on it. i figure, why not entertain the underpaid data entry clerks at the same time. also, in the current issue of bitch magazine, jean kilbourne of killing us softly fame suggests taking those subscription cards that fall out of magazines and writing "stop exploiting women" or "feed your models" on the card and send them back. perhaps all of this increase of mail will discourage the post office from raising postage. sounds like fun! | 02:51 pm |

and now it's time for good idea, bad idea it's a good idea to play songs like "magic man" in the morning, because a.) i enjoy heart immensely b.) it's semi-rock and roll, get your ass out of bed music
i guess it's not rock and roll enough, because i hit the snooze button, which leads me to bad idea it's a very bad idea to play songs like "comfortably numb" in the morning, because when i'm far off in dreamy dream land and wrapped up in my warm coocoon(?), that song does not reach me for many many minutes, thus causing me to oversleep. it's more like a lullaby. | sunday, 3rd february 2002 | 08:48 pm |
new month's resolution i don't think i made resolutions until frank left last year, which was a little before the time that it is now. anyway, i've decided that i really need to watch more movies, because there are too many that i haven't seen. tonight i rented the legend of rita, which i tried to watch when i visited ed & viv a few months ago, but the vcr didn't like the movie very much. i also rented memento. i could've bought it for 9.99, but i decided against it, as i never really watch the movies i own anyway. i also bought requiem for a dream. i know a ton of people who hate this movie, but i liked it. so yeah. i bought it for 6.99. i also thought about buying almost famous, but i didn't. i'm taking movie suggestions. they can be old or new, preferably not a new release, as i'm trying to save some cash. also, if anyone wants to go to a movie, let me know. i dig that sort of thing. current mood: happy current music: Lies - Thomson Twins | 04:45 pm |

okay. so last night, i hung out with this boy from about 730pm until 300am. i think it's safe to say that it not only was a successful evening, but i have a feeling this may happen again. i don't want to jinx it though. current mood: sleepy | thursday, 31st january 2002 | 04:17 pm |
okay, so a few tuesdays ago, i was driving in my car, and i looked over, and there was the cutest girl i've ever seen. she had the *best* hair. i thought about telling her, but you know, i felt weird, and shy, awkward, etc. so, we hit the next light, and i looked over, and she smiled and i was trying to tell her she had cute hair and she said 'you too!' but then the light turned green. damn. so i placed an 'i saw you ad,' because she seemed really cool, and it was just a cool experience, yadda yadda. so today, i went to the city paper website, and there was an i saw you ad that read " CAR TALK THROUGH the windows was fun. How about we talk in more comfortable surroundings? Maybe you can help me with my English two(chuckle). Coffee? " i got really excited, and i thought i'd give her a chance to respond to my ad. i decided to go ahead and call anyway. so i call the 1-900 number that is NOT free, and much to my surprise, the greeting is a man talking about his experience in dupont circle. uh. WRONG CAR TALK! hahah. so maybe she'll respond to my ad. who knows? i hope so. she seemed really neat. hrm. i guess she *could* have a man-voice. i guess we'll find out, eh? current mood: curious | wednesday, 30th january 2002 | 11:46 pm |

so far, today rules for two reasons:
a.) i woke up to heart's 'crazy on you.' what a great song to wake up to! b.) i am actually up *before* i'm supposed to be at work, meaning i'm actually eating breakfast for a change, and maybe i'll even have time to make my lunch. wowee wow wow wow!

cooking for one as a quirkily singular girl, i've started cooking for me. i think recipe books stink, because they're usually for parties of four or higher. i'm exploring the wonders of student cookbooks. i'm trying very hard to stick to a vegetarian diet, because my cholesterol is way higher than it should be, so i'm trying to eat lots of soyjunk. i can't eliminate dairy products though, because a.) i love cheese, and b.) what the fuck! so i've been buying things that are 'low fat' . ok so tonight, i got a little adventurous. i decided to make my OWN creation. i'm sure someone has made this before, but whatever. i didn't use a cookbook. i took some preparedfaketacomeat, macaroni, cheese, sour cream, onions, and tomatoes and stirred them all up. holy jeez that stuff is good! i think next time i'm going to get some tvp and season it myself. the 'prepared' stuff wasn't prepared enough for my liking. i added some taco sauce and ketchup for that extra zing. (i think the ketchup part comes in from my love for chili mac and steak n shake). yeah, so since last week, when i started cooking without the microwave, i haven't run into a bad meal yet. if anyone has recipes they want to give me, post them, or if you have cookbooks that are really great, i'd like those as well. so far i've been using a 'quick and healthy' cookbook, a students guide to vegetarianism (they cook with BEER), and then some cookbook that was written by a sixteen year old. easy peasy! last year, i bought this vegetarian cookbook from ross because it was ten bucks. it was way too fancy for me. i don't really want to know how to make things like fancy cheese. maybe when i'm older and entertaining people. then i can say "HEY LOOK AT MY HOMADE CHEESE!" yeah.
in other news, my roommate hates me because i won't watch kung pow with him. my explanation for this is that i don't want my iq to be any lower than it already is. i seriously believe that is what exactly what that movie will do to my brain.
ok the end.

it's a busy day at work, but i thought i'd take a break. things are looking a bit wishy and washy regarding my plans for madrid. hopefully everything will pan out. for those of you who are new to my journal, i was supposed to go to madrid a year ago in march. things have been topsy-turvy ever since. ugh. stress. i have to re-write some tech manuals before we go too. i guess i should stop doing things like updating my livejournal. whatever though. i know you all have inquiring minds, and inquiring minds want to know!
also, i am cooking tacos tonight. . .they may turn out to be burritos, or just plain soft tacos, since i don't have any crunchy shells. aye carumba!

i really love the cars today i cleaned the kitchen.i even washed the tray in the microwave. i wonder if anyone will notice. i doubt anyone will care. i care though, and it was so nice to have a clean kitchen when i cooked yet another meal on top of the stove. this night's dinner included feta/greenbean/tomato/fettuccini. my belly is swollen, but it's a very warm yummy kind of swollen. i should now fold my clothes, but really don't want to. i'm thinking of working on my website. . .thinking about it. a nap sounds so good right now, but i'm afraid it's much too late for that. current mood: full current music: since you're gone: the cars | 01:55 pm |
meeting people is easy! this morning, or this afternoon, i am smiling. i had the best evening last night. actually, i've had the best weekend! friday was drinking and dancing with c,, seeing lots of people who make me smile. and good times! i told olli that c is my musical encyclopedia, just to remind him how wonderful she is. he'd better let her spin soon! too many mc's not enough FEMALE DJS. last night, two lovely ladies arrived at my house, as i mentioned. we made a run to the booze shop, where we proceeded to purchase some quervo tequila margarita drink. two bottles, in fact. oh my. then we ventured over to the spaghetti house, which is probably my most favorite restaurant in the area. it was so divine, and there was much entertainment (the waiter who was wondering what wine wouldn't mix well with, and good old alfie and his fiftieth birthday party). we came home and drank and talked for awhile. actually, i forgot to mention that the booze store didn't have salt, so we ran to giant for the m.salt and some chips. imagine you are in the grocery store and looking for margarita salt, where do you think you might find it? no, it wasn't there. it wasn't there either. nope. guess again. ok, i'll tell you. it was in the FROZEN FOOD SECTION next to the NOTEBOOKS and kosher food. WHAT!?! amusing. so we get our drinks on at home, and we gussie ourselves up, and realize that half of our group has had cancer. (GO CANCER!) it was like a grownup girl gossip party. we lost track of time, so we ordered a cab. the cab arrived, and it was a FEMALE CAB DRIVER! how cool is that! she was giggling at our silly conversations, and she told us how to make thai iced tea/thai coffee. i couldn't tell you what she said though. something to do with coconut milk. we also talked about taxicab confessions (i'm infamous for doing this while drunk in cabs, see the seattle crew for details). yes, so we made it to the cat, lovelovelyloved miss dj crankoline and mr william. we shook it to the left, to the right, and all night. it totally ruled. i talked to the makeout boy for a bit. it was fun., and we danced, like the waves on the ocean. hah i hate that song. anyway...we came back here, and crashed, and now the ladies are gone. i hope to see them very very soon. i hope i'm not forgetting anything. this is jamie, signing off. | 03:08 am |
ive got two lovely girls staying with me. dancing was WONDERFUL. i am GLORIOUS. goodnight! | saturday, 26th january 2002 | 04:59 pm |

i smell awfully good, considering i went straight to bed after my stinky bar experience. ok, well parts of me smell good anyway. i just had a dream that i was taken hostage on a schoolbus, then taken to a cave that was a semi-department store. there were automatic weapons involved and everything. it turns out that my kidnapper was gary oldman ala the professional. i have no complaints. |
