Bio:	My name is Mary and I am from New Jersey. I lived near Newark for sixteen years where I played soccer, met my best friend Allistar who is from Argentina, and went to a County Magnet High School for Math, Science, and Technology. There, I had the best English teacher, Ms. Beam, who handed me Iron & Silk by Mark Salzman, actually corrected my writing, and showed me standardized testing was bullshite. I moved in the middle of my Junior year, where my brother Matt (16) and I had to learn to do some adjusting to the snobby drunk and doped up kids of a quaint mountain town. Both high schools gave me a great educational background. In my newer high school I took the chance of playing ice hockey as the only girl, and don’t regret a damn thing. I have some really great friends from both schools and counties though I am incredibly shy and unsociable. I go to school in Albany, NY and have an awesome roommate from Shanghai, China named Monica or Yu Fei. I am a Human Biology Major, and probably will be a Journalism or English with a concentration in Writing Minor eventually. I am stuck on deciding whether I be a forensic pathologist working with the FBI or a science writer. I’d rather be both. I have crazy ideas for textbooks that make me grin [cartoons, letters, short stories to explain Biology, etc.], partly influenced by The Evolution of Consciousness by Robert Ornstein, which my Psychology teacher, Ms. Knoll, handed me. I owe my parents a lot for pushing me to become the person I am today. The greatest complement I received was, “You remind me of your Dad.” My obsession with science began in 2nd grade after my Mum suggested I write my paper on Jonas Salk. I intended to work with him on his quest for a vaccine for AIDS, and was sad to hear he passed away June of 1995. As a forensic pathologist, I hope to sidetrack into the world of virology. I write a lot and some of it ends up on QUEEZY magazine. I have a love of learning and aspire to learn all kinds of things from wushu to flying a plane. I secretly want to travel the world and if I take a turn and become an architect, you can find me tramping up and down South America. The first state I think I’d live in is Arizona. I don’t intend to marry until I’m 36, yet Dav said I said I was going to die at 32 or 34. My first book is supposed to be published at 20, though it’s only 25 pages long. It’ll all work out in the end. Sometimes you just need to get away.
