Disappoint - Assemblage 23 [08 Feb 2002|04:47pm]
[ music | Assemblage 23 - Disappoint (Assemblage 23 - Gu ]

Just one more time
For the sake of sanity
Tell me why
Explain the gravity
That drove you to this
That brought you to this place
That pushed you down
Into the soil's embrace

Give me the chance
I was denied
To sit and talk with you
For one last time

CHORUS
Did I disappoint you?
Did I let you down?
Did I stand on the shore
And watch you as you drowned?
Can you forgive me?
I never knew
The pain you carried
Deep inside of you.

I can't forget
Having to see
The words that knocked the wind
Right out of me
It's not enough
I've come undone
Trying to find sense
Where there is none

Just give me peace
You owe me that
To help ward off the fears
I must combat

(CH)

And so I ask
For one more chance
To understand
This senseless circumstance
Help me to see
This through your eyes
The reasons I've been trying
To surmise

Though you are gone
I am still your son
And while your pain is over
Mine has just begun

(CH)

Putting It All Together
(c) February 3, 2002
The Daily Brew

I had to turn off the "O'Reilly Factor." I just couldn't take listening to O'Reilly's guest, Bernard Goldberg, sell his book "Bias" about the supposedly liberal media. So instead, I did a quick google search for the string "Enron Afghanistan Pipeline Taliban." This is what I learned in about 10 minutes of web surfing.

The Motive

For years, US oil interests have been trying to build a pipeline across Afghanistan to access the oil and gas around the Caspian Sea; efforts that have continued past the 9-11 attacks.
Source: http://www.wluml.org/english/new-archives/wtc/at-stake/unocal.htm

Enron was a key player in this game. Way back in 1996, Enron had cut a deal with the president of Uzbekistan for joint development of the nation's natural gas fields.

Enron had also done the feasibility study for the pipeline.

For a time, the Taliban appeared to be a potential partner. They had even visited Sugarland, Texas to talk things over.
Source http://news6.thdo.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/world/west_asia/newsid_37000/37021.stm

The Crime

Unfortunately, the talks broke down, and by late last summer, the US Government was threatening to commence war against Afghanistan (an attack which would have violated every precept of international law).
Sources http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/world/south_asia/newsid_1550000/1550366.stm
http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/world/south_asia/newsid_1550000/1550366.stm

At least twice, Bush conveyed the message to the Taliban that the United States would hold the regime responsible for an al Qaeda attack. But after concluding that bin Laden's group had carried out the October 2000 attack on the USS Cole, a conclusion stated without hedge in a Feb. 9 briefing for Vice President Cheney, the new administration did not choose to order armed forces into action.
Source http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A8734-2002Jan19.html

Simultaneous with making, but not following through on these threats, Bush took a number of actions to make the US decidedly more vulnerable to a terrorist attack. He ordered the Naval strike force, which Clinton placed in the Indian Ocean on 24 hour alert so he could hit Osama as soon as he had solid intelligence, to stand down. Bush threatened to veto the Defense Appropriations Bill after Democrats tried to move $600 million out of Star Wars and into anti-terror defense. Bush opposed Clinton's anti-money-laundering efforts, which were designed to stop al Qaeda's money. Bush abandoned Northern Alliance leader Ahmed Shah Massoud, or as the two star general Donald Kerrick told the Washington Post, reflecting on his service to both President Clinton and President Bush: Clinton's advisors met nearly weekly on how to stop bin Laden and al Qaeda. "I didn't detect that kind of focus" from the Bush Administration.

I don't have to tell you what happened next.

The Cover Up

Dick Cheney is openly breaking the law by defying GAO requests to turn over his records of meetings with Enron.
Source http://writ.news.findlaw.com/dean/20020201.html

At the same time that Cheney has refused to turn over his records, Enron and its accountants have shredded millions of pages of documents.
Source http://www.nytimes.com/2002/01/30/business/30SHRE.html

The Bush's themselves may have destroyed evidence. When the Justice Department instructed the Bush administration to preserve any documents related to Enron Corporation, a senior administration official said that until now, "the White House had not been making any formal effort to preserve or catalogue information about Enron contacts."
Source http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A10918-2002Feb1.html

While all of this law breaking, stalling, and destruction of evidence has gone on, Bush has asked Daschle to limit Congressional probes into Sept. 11.
Source http://www.cnn.com/2002/ALLPOLITICS/01/29/inv.terror.probe/index.html

Note that the supposedly "liberal press" has so far failed to put all of these pieces together. They are too busy giving Bernard Goldberg and Bill O'Reilly the airtime to sell a canard called "Bias."

But so little time!!!

I was in NYC the other night for six hours hanging out with some old friends, tonight I've got three super ball parties I feel obligated to roll through, and somehow SOMEHOW I got to finish packing all my shit.

Life couldn't be better... though I wonder what I am getting myself. :)

Behind Blue Eyes - The Who [02 Feb 2002|09:03am]
No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes
No one knows what it's like
To be hated
To be fated
To telling only lies

But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be

I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free

No one knows what it's like
To feel these feelings
Like I do
And I blame you

No one bites back as hard
On their anger
None of my pain and woe
Can show through

But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be

I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free

When my fist clenches, crack it open
Before I use it and lose my cool
When I smile, tell me some bad news
Before I laugh and act like a fool

If I swallow anything evil
Put your finger down my throat
If I shiver, please give me a blanket
Keep me warm, let me wear your coat

No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes

Twelve days and counting [30 Jan 2002|06:14am]
[ music | Did - All you want(almighty ]

I feel so much better these days... I think between me cutting my cigarette intact down to zero then to ultra light pall mall cigarettes and then the shitloads of exercise I am actually rebuilding my body. I just got back from jogging and am slightly disturbed though... I can run 2 miles in only 20 minutes :( I need to be faster but I can feel if I push myself any harder something will break.

In other avenues of thought, I've thinking about the last three years and half regretting them but also half appreciating what they've taught me.

Money:
I learned that money is evil in large quantities but is also damning in to small of amounts. Duh you might say, but when I mean money is evil... I mean watching the side-effects of it tear things appart.

Example: Rave's
They used to be really cool but then they became popular and now are havens were teenagers who are street-stupid end up overdosing, getting rapped by sick old men & jocks, or just generally fucked over.

Then on the otherside is all the bums I met while I promoted in Philly. Funny people, but if you get to know them enough you find what their saying is like a broken record... the person is there but the light is gone.

Relationships
When someone tells you that no one else will ever love them like they love you.... now that no one shall ever love that person like you did once before things just went south.

If the ship is sinking, even if it was a good ship... all hands aboard have the choice of either bailing ship or dying together - either mentally or physically.

Sex is worthless, only fools will pay for it and only fools charge.... It is a foundation for trouble. Otherwise its fun, healthy, and to be shared with only one person (if only people could figure out who that person is).

Talk is cheap and can't harm you in giving out your voice.... the question is, will you be willing to listen to other people's talk?

Friendships never die, there either forgotten or they never really existed.

Life
At the heart of it, life is about having fun... period. If you accept this, then life gets really easy REALLY fucking fast. The goal of life is to make the game enjoyable for yourself and for others as well.... no one likes a smart ass who keeps kicking everyone elses ass and no one plays with people who suck at it. Keep that in mind.

Shit that has no where else to go
Probably the hardest thing for me to get over is that fact that crazy people exist and that other people take crazy people as not crazy people. Martha Stewart is a prime example... she's like the neo-nazi of home decorating. Seriously, if you every sit down and watch her... she's always got this fuhuer like smile to her plus a timed motion to her that just reacts of some pyschopath who would lead us all to a purgatory of gourmet food that tastes like crap because someone been touching it to much or.... fuck it I'm going to stop now.

One LAST FUCKING THING
Never take anything at face value....Including that last paragraph on neo-nazi's being sponsored by Martha Stewart.

Blah [17 Jan 2002|01:36pm]
Well I am back in Florida...again. Its a lovely 70 degree's outside, the sun is shining, the beach is nice and everything here is really nice. I don't know if there's anything to really complain about right now though. Everything is nice. Otherwise tonight a old girlfriend of mine is taking me out on a date (which is really really weird) to Miami, that should be estrangingly weird.

Tomorrow were going to head upto Orlando for a family reunion this weekend, only the present and 2nd generation are going to be present for this one so it wont be to bad.

Hmm in other news I bought a ps2 and the game Grand Theft Auto 3.... oh my god is that an amazing game. Yeah well, I don't really have much to say because of how nice everything is going so I am going to stop gloating now.

Assemblage 23 > Divide [11 Jan 2002|08:24pm]
[ music | Assemblage 23 - divide ]

I lost myself in shapeless oceans
Whose depths concealed more than they showed
Beliefs obscured by mists around them
A legacy they'd been bestowed

Columns of ice paint awkward pictures
Distorted forms that once seemed real
Engulfed inside transparent textures
Billowing curtains as hard as steel

For all the noise filling the landscape
Whispers & cries with no reply
It's quiet here within these boundaries
And thoughts collect like pools of light

CHORUS
My eyes divide the sky
As sirens sound in heaven
My will brings down the moon
And shatters it to pieces

The silence grew inconsequential
The day became a paradigm
A thousand years, a hundred decades
An arbitrary slice of time

I found myself with no companion
Except the salty earth and sky
And suddenly there came my focus
The world around me clarified

(Chorus)

And so I walked in isolation
Hoping solace would cross my path
Ignored the road that lay behind me
And stepped away from the aftermath

I lost myself in shapeless oceans
Whose waters turned from dark to clear
I floated there, a tiny island
With no more doubt, with no more fear

(Chorus)
