oh my, it has been a LONG time since i've made an entry...

so i've invested in a pair of running shoes, and started back into the world of distance running. i can't wait til i'm in good enuf shap to start racing again. =) my first day out in 4 years, i ran 4.5 miles...so that's encouraging.

i did my first project with my new sewing machine today. made a pair of pants...there's still some touching up to do, but i'm very happy with how they came out. now the hardest part of making clothes is just pinning them how i want it before sewing...

i just got home from the Casualties/TSOL/Agnostic Front show at slims. good show, but not like i'd expected. the casualties were good, but not THAT good. TSOL was great. and agnostic front blew me away (by how horrible they were) ...they sound ok recorded, but live they reminded me of Blast, only worse. the singer for the casualties had his whole head done up in long spikes in every direction. he reminded me of a koosh-ball animal. when he'd stop shaking his head, his spikes would still be jiggling. most amusing.

wow. all my life i'd heard about this thing that runs in my family. it's this thing where people just go over the edge into hysteria from little funny things, and it's a half laugh, half cry kinda thing....my mom would tell me how her and her sisters would get their mom going like that in the middle of stores when they were little...

i'd never actually witnessed this occurance though until tonight. my aunt and uncle were over for dinner, and my aunt said something backwards and started laughing about it...but then she started laughing really really hard and she was so bad you couldn't tell if she was laughing or crying...then i look over and my sister is doing it too....she had tears streaming down her face....and my mom too....yes, even I was laughing so hysterically from seeing this that i was doing it too....none of us knew what the hell we were laughing about, but we could not stop, and the tears were flowing...it would eventually die down, but then it would start again...i had to run out of the room to avoid throwing up my dinner from laughing too much....what horrible gene has been passed on to me?!?!?

oh it's fun though...

i start work tommarrow...that's not so fun. i start at 7am...that means i gotta be up at 5:30. not good. and day shift at blackhawk? *puke*

oh my!! tonight was so freaking great...

monikabob and i decided to hang out tonight since she just got home from school and we hadn't seen eachother since june...but then we ran in to the problem that i seem to have ALL the time...not being able to think of anything to do...

so here's what we did:

we went down to San Francisco to the corner of Colombus and Beach Blanket Babylon (near Ben & Jerry's) and sat there with a sign that said "if you have a heart... ENTERTAIN US" ...and entertain us, they did. =)
we had one screamer, one old man who was mumbling to himself as he walked by (hey, it was entertaining), one kid who threw bomber snaps at us and started to strip, two dancing couples, six jokes, three other dancers (one who was in his car), one guy in a car who flipped us off, one guy who donated a pen to us because the eyeliner pencil i was using to remember all this was running out, and the last guy we talked to was wonderful...he totally reminded me of Kramer. he looked a lot like him, and he was all knowledgable about really random strange things, and he even sang us two greek songs...

i had to leave and use the bathroom at Ben & Jerry's, leaving monkikabob alone with the sign that said to entertain US...some people asked her about it, and she said it was her andher friend here (invsible?). oh it was wonderful...i'm keeping this sign in my trunk from now on, so i can do this again when the urge strikes me....

what a silly night

According to your answers, your political philosophy is libertarian.

Libertarians are self-governors in both personal and economic matters. They believe government's only purpose is to protect people from coercion and violence. They value individual responsibility, and tolerate economic and social diversity.

My car is 0 - 15% dependable.

My car is a complete piece of shit, but at least it was cheap. I obviously can't be a self-respecting individual if I am showing my face around town in this thing. I will try selling it for $5 or so, and if I succeed, I will buy a tricycle because it will probably get me around faster anyway.

Celeborn

Celeborn

If I were a character in The Lord of the Rings, I would be Celeborn, Elf, King of Lothlorien, husband of Galadriel and grandfather of Arwen.

In the movie, I am played by Marton Csokas.

9:15 pm - the eagle has landed
so after 4 hours of sleep, i got Double A and we went to the airport to pick up Dubie. we brought a long a sign to hold up when he came out. it said "jawbone" (i dunno...ask him about what that means) ...the A was an anarchy sign, and the O had in x thru it. underneath was a skull with a mohawk with blood dripping out of it... i dunno why i'm writing about the sign, but i was pretty proud of it. dubie's got big orange hair now that fluffs out in all directions, and 2 gauged rings thru each ear...it's good to have him back

i went to my sisters winter concert tonight at my old high school. the concert band was much better than normal, and the choir was good too. but the 6 guys from the choir did one song by themselves...of all the songs to do,they chose Good Ridance by Greenday. Nothing against the song, i love that song, but first they sang it more like a boy band or something, and they mutilated it soo badly. they completely lost any hint of the melody, so it was like an off key, monotone kinda thing. i was blown away by how bad the screwed it up. for a while, i was standing next to some kid was was wearing plaid bondag pants. i liked that at first, but then i realized he was wearing a Godsmack hat. things like that irritate me.

in the choir, there was this one girl who used to be good friends wih my sister back in like fist grade. for one of my sisters early birthdays, we took everyone to the zoo, and this girl was soo mean. she'd always run up and kick me. i never see her except when i go to my sisters concerts, but i'm like blown away by how she's turned out now that she's just about an adult...it's really scary though. she's like one of the few people i can go up to and tell them how i remember when they were "only this big"...i'm gettng old...

4:55 am - Fellowship Of The Ring
ok...so it's 5am, i just got home from the midnight opening of Lord Of The Rings in stockton with april, dave, seth, robin, and a bunch of people i don't know...

i liked the movie a lot, but i think it's just because i loved the books so much. the movie coulda been a LOT better. even though it was 3 hours long, it moved waaaay too fast. it was like one thing after another; it was like too much solid excitement...it hurt the story. and i have a feeling that there were a lot of things that woulddn't make sense to those who haven't read the books, just beacuse it moves so fast and doesn't bother explaining a lot of things. also, like every other big movie of the last few years - they focused waay too much on the computer graphics/rendering/etc... it did look really really good, but it loses something when they do that. too much flair. the movie woulda been so much better if it'd been done more like Willow or something of that style. honestly i don't think the movie is anything special...i'd compare it to Mummy or something...ok better than that (i didn't like mummy at all), but very similar. So even with all that working against it though, Tolkien's story is so incredible that you still gotta go see it. you'll like it.

oh yea...this is just the first movie....it's not the complete Lord Of the Rings...it's gonna be yet another trilogy....so don't be surprised when the movie finishes how it does...

12:50 pm - it's about time for a REAL journal entry...
so i'm in the city of Vijaywata...it's alright. i really like the place where we're working right now. we're staying at an orphanage and the kids are soo freaking adorable!! i love them so much...i want to pack 2 or 3 of them into my backpack right before we leave here...i remember when me and Peter signed up to sponser a kid in like africa or something a few years back, and then we never sent any money...but now that i'm seeing these kids, and hearing some of their stories, i'm soo gonna be sending money back to this place once i have employment once again...i'm convinced that running an orphanage is one of THE very best things you can do as a person...their giving so many kids a chance to have a life...if i ever come back to india, i think i'll probably visit here again. the guy we're working with right now is only a year older than me, and is a YWAMer also...he undestands the importance of getting to know people, not just preaching at them and stuff...he's a really good guy...
i've finally found one person who has a crush on me...it took me 5 months, but i found someone...err, they found me...she asked me for my digits (and my address)...and begged me for a picture...it was terribly ammusing....i think she's a bit younger than the usual crew though...i'm not sure, but i would guess her at around 14 years old...oh well, eh? it felt nice tho to find that there's at least one person in India who likes dan...
also, the afi song, God Called In Sick Today has taken on new meaning with me...i play God in all the skits we do...the other night, we were in this village, you could say that lately i've been anything but "regular"...all of the sudden i HAD to go...there's no bathrooms...no nothing...i got to know nature reeeaaal good that night, on the side of a dirt road...no toilet paper, no leaves, no pine cones (thank God!!)...when i got back, they had finished the skit with someone filling in my part...he messed up my lines pretty good too...=) things around here are getting very silly...

ARE YOU READY TO MEET YOUR MAKER?
Spiritually Ready
You're doing pretty well. Your strong intuition allows you to understand the beauty of life better than most, but you should keep trying to sharpen your appreciation of all that creation offers. There are many trivial details in our daily lives. But we have to learn to rise above to achieve happiness. Only through maintaining a sense of balance between the great and the small can we achieve happiness. If you closely observe your surroundings and keep your mind on the enduring values, you'll succeed. It's not that there won't be any room when that chariot comes to take you home, but be careful not to get bumped from a perfectly good window seat.

ARE YOU A SLACKER?
Slacker
You little slacker, you! You have a well-developed sense of how NOT to get things done, but you're not the least-motivated kid on the block. You make at least some attempt to work efficiently. As a demi-slacker, you definitely operate on your own schedule. Today means tomorrow, and tomorrow means next week. You'll get the job done eventually, but no one's holding their breath. Your friends and coworkers probably don't rely on you to be punctual or finish time-sensitive projects. If they do, it's their own darn fault, right? There are some benefits to being a part-time slacker: you rarely feel rushed, and you most likely lead a stress-free life. Plus, you accomplish more than the full-on slacker! The downside is that your work, social, and personal life might suffer from your consistent anything-goes attitude. If they do, it's time to make a change. If they don't, there's no immediate need to fix anything.

ARE YOU EVIL?

Good news — you're just a little evil, which means you're very human. But it's time to make a decision: Either shut out that damn conscience and be really bad, or start living life like a saint. Get more info on your evilness — sign up with Emode.com.

WHAT'S YOUR SUPERPOWER?

Holy lizard-lips! You're a Chameleon. A master of disguise, you can change your colors or your tune to suit any situation.

WHAT IS YOUR THEME SONG?

dan, your theme song is Born to Be Wild!

You are a mad man and your theme song is "Born to be Wild." You're the guy most likely to run out on the baseball diamond during a rain delay or bang on the penalty box at a hockey game. Either way, when your mug comes on the Jumbotron, the crowd goes nuts.

WHAT IS YOUR TRUE COLOR?

dan, your true color is Blue!

You're blue — the most soothing shade of the spectrum. The color of a clear summer sky or a deep, reflective ocean, blue has traditionally symbolized trust, solitude, and loyalty. Most likely a thoughtful person who values spending some time on your own, you'd rather connect deeply with a few people than have a bunch of slight acquaintances.
