good weekend [24 Jun 2002|09:05am]
[ mood | sleepy ]
[ music | trying to make kazaa work...argghh! ]

after my horrible friday of work...
paul and i went to see minority report. this was the BEST movie i've seen in a LONG time. the storyline was excellent, the effects were cool, and tom was beautiful (as always). it was 2 hrs of complete enjoyment.

had to work early saturday morning, but then we went record shopping, which i love to do. got a beatles greatest hits record (the red one, 196?-196?), and the lennon/plastic ono record with imagine and instant karma. our 80's collection is getting really good, and we added def leppard's "hysteria". woo hoo. i also found a travis concert/documentary dvd. very cool.

ate the best cheese fries in the world at snuffer's. found some ace pear cider and guinness draft (in the bottle), and went home to punish the liver.

sunday we rented "ocean's 11" which turned out to be pretty cool.

it was a very laid back, relaxing weekend. already counting down to the next one...

take the death quiz.

and go to mewing.net. laura = great.

so i'm here on friday, again. and i have to come back tomorrow. the workin' life just isn't for me.

last night paul was playing the familiar to millions dvd trying to learn noel's guitar parts. he did pretty well with "cigarettes and alcohol", "fuckin in the bushes", and "hey, hey, my, my". it's an obsession, what can i say.

Which Beatle girl are you?

john used to be my fave beatle, but i think paul is now. although, paul did write the fool on the hill which i absolutely hate. i'm rambling, obviously. i would like a job where i can sit around and talk about music all day. there's no room for music chat when i'm trying to explain to these poor kiddies that they're suspended. perhaps i can apply to be a talk show host. i hear rosie's leaving, so there's an opening.

my boss just brought me some forms to fill out, but they were already filled out...in her handwriting. wow.

when i'm at work, music is like my security blanket. it's that little piece of home that reminds me that i have another life outside this cube. today's selection is mainly high school's greatest hits. currently playing: faith no more-falling to pieces. ahhhh.

i'm totally addicted to american idols, even though it represents everything i hate about music today. i even tried to call in and vote for jim (with the deaf parents), but the line was busy. and i'm loving paula abdul all over again, just like in middle school. it's the little things...

i read the rolling stone review of heathen chemistry. of course they didn't like it. it got 3 stars, and they said it was just typical noel gallagher. i can't think of a better advertisement than that.

[ mood | relaxed ]

i have the day off. during the summer we work 10 hr days m-th, and get fridays off. although the bastards that be have scheduled some orientations for friday, i actually got today off. slept until 11:30, had lunch with paul, did laundry, and went to the pool to read the stone roses article from mojo. i hate going to the pool, though. my apartments are full of 10 yr old boys and skinny 16 yr old girls. i haven't had a tan since 1993, when i played tennis in high school. but i'm trying to build a reasonable facsimilie of a tan before july 4, when i'll be forced to wear a bathing suit in front of all my skinny, tan, fit friends and their husbands/boyfriends.

band practice later tonight (yea!), and tomorrow we have a little hometown show. i'm excited to be playing baby, one more time and helter skelter, but still skeptical of 5 to 1 and some of our originals. but trying to take a stone roses/oasis attitude into it and think we're a great band.

the jewel behind the music is on in the other room, and it sounds like she's trying to scat...do dop bop be dede o-de-o...

i'm getting addicted to audio books. you can download some on audiogalaxy, and it's helping my days go faster. except none of the books have had the endings, they just cut off. argh! so i can listen to the stories and stare at my computer like i'm working. it's greatness.

back at work after only having one full day off. this is unacceptable. but today i am waaaayyyyy to sleepy to think about it. i'm so tired that i feel hungover, and that yogurt is not helping. i'm supposed to be here at 7:30, but i didn't even wake up until 7:45. oh, well.

we went to see the braves play the rangers last night. it was greatness. atlanta killed the rangers, and chipper jones's freaking family sat right behind us. we're going to try and hit a braves game when we go to atlanta for you-know-what.

the band is playing a small show on saturday. we're going to open with a cover of "baby, one more time" (ala travis). i love it. and the way we play it sounds like we're totally serious about it. i wanted a burberry scarf for the show, but they're just tooooooo expensive for poor little melo.

our university is full of suckers!!! [05 Jun 2002|04:04pm]
this is en e-mail from our purchasing dept...

A person representing Copier Sales Reps, Inc. from Los Angeles, California
has been contacting departments on campus posing as a Xerox rep trying to
supply copier toner for a specific model. This person was successful in
selling one box of toner and I received an invoice for payment on Tuesday,
June 4, 2002 and a phone call today asking when they might expect payment.

This company has somehow obtained very specific information pertaining to
our campus copiers with respect to the make, model and departmental contacts
names and phone extensions. The phone calls are very misleading.

The questions are directed mainly to Xerox copiers that when originally
purchased by the university which include toner from an auto replenish
maintenance program.

Please be aware that there is only one authorized person on this campus
allowed to order toner for those machines not cover by maintenance contracts
and auto replenish programs like Xerox.

If you receive a call like or similar to this one, please transfer the call
directly to either Carol Dickinson (Ext 5220) in purchasing or myself.

baahahahahahaha...

r kelly has been positively identified by the fbi as being the man in the underage sex videos. this is it for his career. he now awaits sentencing, and can face up to 50 yrs in prison. he gave it all away because he just couldn't (or wouldn't) control himself. he is a modern day rick james, now.

the oasis-atlanta trip is totally planned. our hotel is a block from the venue, so the drinks can flow. plus, we got a killer rate for downtown atlanta. it may be a rat trap, but who cares?! and the venue is general admission, so i will be standing at noel's feet (hopefully). the only bad part is that it's not until aug 5, so i have to endure a whole summer of work until then.

working 7:30-6, what a way to make a living [03 Jun 2002|05:12pm]

[ music | madonna-love song ]

i told paul about modlang and her cool scooters, and he thought it was very cool that a chick was into "bikes" and knew how to fix them. he's into the idea of me getting a scooter. step 1...successful...

i need to get a job that $$pays$$. there's too much shit that i want that i can't afford. a house, scooter, drums, record collection, clothes...we are the sort of middle class that can pay the bills, but can't get much else. so there's lots to be thankful for, but it's hard to appreciate. i hate seeing those millionaire athletes talking about how blessed they are. it's easy to feel blessed when you've got 18 cars and 5 houses. it's hard to feel blessed in a one bedroom apartment with a 97 sunfire and an 88 prelude.

we did get a kitty last saturday. we named her bowie (as in david) because her eyes are different colors. one is blue, the other's gold. and she's solid white except for a little gray splotch on top of her head. she hates dylan right now.

the band is really getting tight. we're sounding as good as we've ever sounded. the audio clips on the website are shitty recordings from a while back, but they're still up. i think we're sounding better than those clips, and i'm a little proud of us. we're writing some good songs (in my opinion), and having a kick ass time doing it. i hope i never grow out of being in a band.

we're working 10 hr fucking days, but getting friday, sat, sun off. but this week we've got an orientation on fri-sat, so i'll be working 10 hr days m-th, then about 6 hrs friday and 4-5 hrs saturday. it absolutely blows.

[ music | oasis, who else? ]

tomorrow paul and i are going to look for a new kitty to ease my broken heart. hopefully we'll find a cutie that we can rescue from the animal shelter. then we'll feel like heros.

tonight is practice, which should end drunkenly. sounds good. we're playing helter skelter (which rules), and five to one (the doors) which i sound silly on. but the boys think it's ok, so i just keep singing. i'm also writing a song for my poor lennon, which i'm trying to model after "stop crying your heart out". it should be huge. keep listening to your local stations...

i love the bottles that red stripe comes in. reminds me of my grandpa for some reason...

i got tickets for the oasis show in atlanta! i know sean will be disappointed that i chose atlanta over toronto, but i want to drive, and toronto is faaaaaarrrrr. i've only seen oasis once, and it was in 97 for the be here now tour. i can't, can't, can't wait. i think their new stuff is their best yet. i'm pretty sure God created oasis just for me. maybe that will help get me through the hellish summer at this god-forsaken job. maybe i'll fling copies of my band's unfinished demo at noel during the show, and we'll go on to be mega superstars. that sounds like a good plan...

houses are too fucking expensive. i really want one so i can continue this charade of being a grown up (and get drums). but they want more than half a year's salary as a down payment. ok. let me get my checkbook out. my grandma told me that when she bought her house (in 1950) she only needed a $500 down payment, and the guy selling the house loaned it to them. but we're looking in "nice" neighborhoods because i want my kids to grow up snobby and smart so they'll know that the money's in heroin, not crack.

i will not buy a house in greenville, no matter how cheap they are...i will not buy a house in greenville, no matter how cheap they are...ad infinitum...
