Started work on my presentation yesterday. Got about four slides done. need about 40 by a week from tomorrow.
Watched Mulholland Drive with Roxane last night. Overrated lesbian action that's for sure. I mean, girls kissing and grabbing each other's breasts? Two people at the video store acted like it was 10-times worse than the "ass-to-ass" of Requiem for a Dream or something. Come on, ya prudes! But yeah, a pretty good movie. someone told me it was the most linear of all Lynch's films. I think they were fucking with me. Excellent stuff. Only two things I'm not sure about:
1) What was the scary guy in the alley all about? 2) Who was Rita/Camilla in the beginning?

So I've had some amazing 28 hours of life.
Celebrated Joe K's birthday at Engine Room with lots of pool and fun conversation about chemistry and the future. Karaoke was absurd. Met some new friends there this time. Got Traci to come and sing!!! Had a gin & tonic at a bar for the first time and decided it wasn't my thing. Just when I thought there was nothing that could top off the night, skinny dipping ensued. Clothing alert!!! Had a small fight with Roxane, but things ended ok and feeling good.
Took Jessica to get her car when she left her purse in someone else's auto last night. It was nice to hang out with her alone and get a sense for what she's all about when she isn't being naughty and abrasive with Roxane. Actually made her laugh and charmed her a bit.
Went to work today and felt better about presentation. ran some jobs. Talked to Joe L who is back from Philly.
Euphie snapped off her collar with her mouth and strutted around wild kitty collarless style. So fucking cute.
Got a haircut from Abbey, look good again, and went to radio station meeting with her. Swim party was cancelled due to a child's vomit. One child's vomit changing the course of history. I was never "the one" to gross everyone out in elementary school. I remember the last day of kindergarten, and I have not eaten cafeteria mashed potatoes since.
The radio station meeting was calamity. "We aren't aloud to say words on the air that your mother wouldn't like." "What if my mother only listens to instrumental music?"
Went back and ate ice cream, and played Uno with Anna, Jessica, and Abbey. Good times, good conversation.
Went to Joe's and watched the end of the Red Wings game. Felt good about those guys winning. True champs. Nicklas Lidstrom is still my favorite hockey player of all time.
Maybe Roxane will want to play in the rain and make the night complete.

Today was not a terrible day of work. A neat little group meeting on parallel computing. WILD WING chicken fingers for lunch which made my belly as happy as anything, and both of my projects are under way.
Say! Only 54 calculations until I have the results for my first two publications. holy academia. Then I rocked Yukio by deriving the electronic configuration for the sextet-pi state of FeCN before he could!
Back off ladies, I found an astounding number of grey hairs today! I might just have to get a GUN to protect myself from all of you.

I have this fx processor I never use. It's kind of broken, but I could still get 250-400$ for it on eBay. Should I use the money to buy a mixer and Technics 1200 and maybe start to DJ proper? :<

Today fairly nondescript. sorta.
Had a very fucked up and sad dream last night. That my dad had completely and utterly lost it, and we physically threatened each other then full-out brawled. We fought and it was bloody and left me feeling very weirded out when I woke up. Violence in my household has always been a nonentity.
Started my UHF program, and checked up on some jobs at work. I was one of three people there. SLACKERS. Watched baseball on FOX. Who the FUCK cares about the Yankees/Giants game when one of the greatest pitching duels of the 21st century was also on. Martinez vs. Schilling. COME ON. and Barry hits his damn home run in the first inning, so they should've switched over after that.
i gave gas station girl my phone number. phear.
it's musicmaking time until preempted by more interesting things.

Well well well! Not only am I in second place in my fantasy baseball public league after ending April in last place by 24 points, but I have actually finished a song tonight!
Could Logic Audio actually be behaving to the point where I could again call myself an ARTIST and not a slave to fucked up software!?!?!

Feeling less sick is fun.
This weekend will be fruitful, as musicmaking programs are starting to function normally, and new chemistry projects are in the works. I may become a mentor to one of the first year grad students.
Dr. Schaefer has told the group that there is an alleged hotel in London called the Ciba house, where chemistry students are allowed to stay for free. Alas, the website does not imply such free-ness, but still, it is something to be researched a bit further.
Roxane told me this week "there is no such thing as love, only proof of love" and I have been disturbed by this for days.

Felt healthy enough last night to go out for the first time since returning to Georgia. Watched the Red Wings get stuffed, and went to Manhattan with Joe and Michael. Introduced myself to who shall now be referred to as "gas station girl."
Mike Mills and I left the bar at the same time and ended up being parked next to each other. Him in his little rock star beamer, and me in my grandpa car.
I'm on WUOG from 3 to 6 this afternoon. pay attention. http://www.uga.edu/wuog

Recovering from illness slowly. This is the first time I've gotten my bi-yearly sick and decided I was going to (and was able to) get rid of it with good old fashioned sleep and rest and taking care of myself instead of antibiotics and life-shortening drugs.
My toilet is fixed. I can now poo in the comfort of my own home.
I got random phone calls from lovely people! Joe calls on the way back from traveling all week and wants to hang out! I decline due to sicky, but yay for Joe being back! Crystal calls from Asheville. She calls to talk about the first day in a new town and all of the aloneness and trepidation. :<
I read and read and listen to music and try out Cubase SX which rocks the fucking casbah. night.

something i quite like in this life is when you are sick, but you are drinking delicious tea, and it clears your sinuses so well that you cannot prevent your liquid snot from dripping into the tea cup. maybe i'm alone in this observation.
i had quite an exciting long weekend in michigan. more later when not under the influence of nyquil.

I don't like renting a movie I've already seen with people sometimes. I got Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and watched it with mom and dad. Unfortunately, subtitles are painful for dad, and mom fell asleep. It's sort of like playing a song for someone and having them uninterested, except 32 times longer.
This week in Michigan has been rather strange. I've spent time with so many people I may never have the oppurtunity to really know well again. I miss Mike Taylor a lot.
I've been fidgety at home, I haven't even come close to reading all of the things I was expected to read. My wrists hurt even though I have shyed away from computing. I am about to trade in my sexy car for an extremely unsexy car (with no CD player).
I don't have much to feel icky about, but it sure makes me feel icky.

yay!
Yesterday on the way to Dearborn, I passed a tourquoise Grand Am on I-696. Inside was a white middle aged man.. maybe 35-ish. He looked kind of ex-military. What made me laugh my ass off, was that he had three bumper stickers which are best read from right to left.
"Princess" "EXOTIC Princess" "Yes, they ARE real!"

Well.. tonight I dissed my old friends for my old acquaintances. Upon reflection, maybe that wasn't such a good idea. I had fun making an ass out of myself in front of techno snobs though. I tried to get Mike Dykehouse to have a booty shaking contest with me, but he changed the subject.
Tomorrow... big fantasy baseball dilemma. I have burkett and Clemens pitching against each other. Which should I put in, or both?
And remember kids. You live in fucking America. If you go somewhere where alcohol is served, you probably need some ID.

Hey all.. anything happening tonight? I hear Rotator is playing at the Royal Kubo. I do not know if this should be missed.
I have never driven from Georgia to Detroit alone. I didn't pack enough music, but I drove faster than light and made it in just under 12 hours. I got sick by eating beef jerky for dinner.
The Detroit skyline was rather nice looking at dusk, and now I am ready for all sorts of adventure.

Well... looks like I only have about 26 calculations to run until I have the results for my first publication. Woop woop!!!
Spent the weekend with Dave, my best friend on Earth. Got into some adventures, went swimming, chatted about life and how to live it. I'd never seen Apocalypse Now from beginning to end, and Dave bought the Redux version. Holy crap. I had a high school history teacher who went through Vietnam as a medic, and had all sorts of hilarious anecdotes and pictures and could tell a whole course worth of stories. You could see he had more stories to tell that weren't funny. That was a messed up period of our history even for people that went through a fraction of the shit that the Apocalypse Now characters went through. The whole movie plays out like a hallucination. fucking incredible.
Might hang out with Crystal tomorrow, and then it's off to Michigan. One of my tires completely blew up last night. Better here than while on the way to Detroit. I live a rather charmed life automobile-wise.

word. Yesterday was my first totally productive day of the summer. I wrote a little program to print out all of the two-electron integrals so I can complete a bigger program. It's fairly refreshing to write a computer program in like 20 minutes that saves you hours of busy work.
Ran a bunch of jobs. Like a bunch, but it's a shame the software is all fucked up for me.
Hooray for all that. Had a nice phone conversation with Roxane and even made some music!! go me.
Then Foxz adventures. I think I should sing Roy Orbison's "Crying" in two weeks.
I am excited to go to michigan. Though I may be completing the entire round trip without a driver's license.
