...but what does THIS mean...?????? Hello all, I am just a little perplexed regarding my reaction to the 'Strange Times' CD. I LOOOVVEEE 'Swamp Thing' and 'Tears' (both versions); but I just can't get into the rest of the album. Other than that, I can't get enough of the 'Script of the Bridge' and 'What Does Anything Mean? Basically' albums; and a few of the tracks on the 'Fan & the Bellows' are pretty good - I've yet to check out their newer material. The Chameleons are basically my favourite band at this point in time. Does anyone feel the same way about the Strange Times album? Chameleon's Live I received my copy today. It is wonderful. I am a happy girl. Seriocity I used to be so sure | I used to be so certain | Now it's gone | Always wanting more | Bleating out excuses | I have none Cast reflections in the water | Now that the deed is done | We'll wait | And watch the ripples fade away | Hearts are breaking | Someone's daughter | Joins with someone's son | It goes on and on again | On and on again | Watch the ripples run I used to be so sure | I used to be so certain | How could I be so wrong | Always needing more | At last the chains are breaking | Watch me now | Watch me run Over fields and past the houses | Like a bullet from the gun | Watch the figure fade away | Hearts are breaking | Someone's daughter | Joins with someone's son | It goes on and on again | On and on again | Watch the ripples run Over fields and past the houses | Watch the rabbit run Current Mood: giddyCurrent Music: The Chameleons - Seriocity |

what's yr fav chams song? thursday's child
Where are we? | First and last | Bound together in our past | Much too cruel | Much too fast | And much too quick to anger I suppose | Years ago | Years ago I might have known | I suppose | Years ago Traps laid bare | In my face | Set to keep me in my place | Wave goodbye to the child | And life, it seems, is colder I suppose | Years ago I might have known | I suppose No | Please leave my mind intact | As I slowly grow older Where are we? | Each and all | Creatures run and creatures crawl | Spinning here on this ball | Creatures run and creatures crawl |

Alone in a room I've been in once before | Shapes in the hall | I'm running for the door | I'm out on the edge | But I'm not defeated yet | I hear my name above everything else | Mark! Mark! | Above everything else | Don't fall! It's a freak out | Nothing's familiar | Nothing seems to fit into the scheme of things | Seeing faces where there shouldn't be faces | No-one's ever certain what tomorrow brings | So don't fall my friend | All nightmares have an end. Hiding inside | A room that's running red | The place to be | Exists only in your head | And the focus of fear | In the creases of a dress | A female dress | How did I come to be drowning in this mess | This fuckin' mess | Don't fall It's a freak out | Nothing's familiar | Nothing seems to fit into the scheme of things | Seeing faces where there shouldn't be faces | No-one's ever certain what tomorrow brings | Don't fall I know your back's against the wall | But this roaring silence | Won't devour us all | Don't fall |

Interesting survey If you haven't already taken it, there is a sort of fun survey thingie on the Chameleons Website. Click HereI also discovered that you can indeed preorder the upcoming release from Townsend Records. I couldn't find a link, but I received an e-mail since I am on the listing for new releases. Can't wait to get it. Current Mood: HappyCurrent Music: Camper van Beethoven - Pictures of Matchstick Men |

hello! I found this by accident and I am so glad I did!! I am a big chameleons fan and I only know a few out there so this is a really nice surprise. I first heard the chameleons in the late 90's at helter skelter in LA. My friends and I have been into them ever since.

Heard "Don't Fall" lastnight....I, as well as 3 of my friends, lost our freakin' minds and must have shed at least 5 pounds dancing like lunatics to this tune. Anyone else recall Chamz trax being spun at a club with a subversive, exeprimental music agenda??
Others I've shuffled to:Swamp Thing, In Shreds, Less Than Human, Up The Down Escalator.

I am new here! I am very excited to find this community. I am a huge huge fan of The Chameleon's. I saw them when they were in San Francisco a couple of years back. As a matter of fact, the background images in my journal are from photographs I took at the show. Townsend Records is my source for finding their newly released stuff. I don't have EVERYTHING as far as live CD's are concerned but I have the regularly released albums (CD's) plus some picture discs and a couple of videos. I am happy to find others who love The Chameleons. Current Mood: giddyCurrent Music: Curve - Crystal |

The best thing about tanking on my music theory exam this week? I was depressed enough to lock myself in the closet and learn "Tears" on my digital piano. Sounds great on the Pipe Organ.
btw: Jon Auer (from the not really broken up Posies) does a cover of Tears on his new EP "6 1/2." The verse is spot-on but I think he loses it in the chorus.

Return Of The Roughnecks I just recently acquired this retrospective with the 2nd disc which includes the Tony Fletcher EP....just can't get enough of "La(to the 9th power)". Also picked up Venus by Invincible(Mr Burgess' project previous to the reunion)a month previously...stumbled upon it looking for an Inspiral Carpets compilation. Anyway, "Only U Can Save Me" is a great track...that one warranted countless, repeated listenings in one evening.

Chameleons UK Messageboard:Wishville Mr. Burgess is quite the prolific poster[as Bird]lately on their official site's messageboard. There's a very kewl response by him concerning the Sex Pistols latest documentary The Filth And The Fury where he was involved in insiting a cake fight at a Pistols gig for children...the footage contained in the flick.

I swear Cocteau Twins' "Garlands" is one of the most brilliant albums ever! Raw early stuff with added Peel Session and two extra tracks. Favorites: too many! But I have a DEEP DEEP admiration for Will Heggie's basslines, that's for sure! Nothing simple in them - snakey and swift! *big big swoon* I <3 BASS LINES!!! Thinking how Robin found Liz Fraser, dancing in some club! I can imagine her dancing listening to this. And I think how the lyrics could be from her experiences: "we laugh in their faces" "but i'm not"... Current Mood: impressedCurrent Music: Shallow Then Halo - Cocteau Twins |

Saw this "Alcohol Years" in tv yesterday about one girl's years in Manchester 1982-87, and it had, among others, Vini Reilly (of Durutti Column). I was glad i got some of his parts on the video, haven't seen him on tv/video, but his music is AMAZING. Still really skinny and such (eating disorder), but i'd definitely want to meet him, he was so sweet Current Mood: surprisedCurrent Music: Nanafushi - Kodo |
