making me smile. |

these comments have made me speachless, i could/can not imagine that someone views me in the way kathleen does:
i am so glad that we have become such close friends. i really respect you and think that you are an amazing person. i think at first when i met you i blew you off as weird, but i'm glad that i took the chance to find out otherwise. we think the same way a lot of times, and i feel like we have a really good understanding between each other. over the past year or two, our relationship has changed a lot, in a good way. i am glad to see that you always feel comfortable coming to me for your problems and i feel the same way towards you. our conversations are always refreshing in the sense that you make me think about a lot of different topics and help me reaffirm some of my ideas and opinions. i think that you have a lot to offer the world and i hope that our friendship only grows stronger. i admire how outgoing you can be and how you always seem to be open to meeting new people. on the other hand, you keep a good balance of knowing who your true friends are and being loyal to them. i think that you have a lot of potential and can do anything you set your mind to. and always remember that if you need advice, you know who to come to :)
all i can say is thank you for the numerous of things you have done for me. i think you hit many points that i would also state back to you, in the sense that we have a very similar outlook and view on life thus love to come to eachother to reaffirm our position after much debate. it has been a privilage to become best friends with you and look to you as a person that i can confide in, a person that is willing to ask me the tough questions and question my choices in life. at times we do not talk for long periods of time, but when we do get the chance, it feels so fulfilling. i must also extend the same invitation you have done to me... if you need someone to talk to or advice to be given please call me/talk to me.

Pol Pot killed 1.7 million Cambodians, died under house arrest, age 72. Well done indeed. And the reason we let it – them get away with it is because they killed their own people. And we’re sort of fine with that. Ah, help yourself, you know. We’ve been trying to kill you for ages! So kill your own people, ohh, right on there. Seems to be, Hitler killed people next door – awwww…stupid man. After a couple of years, we won’t stand for that, will we?
And I th – Pol Pot killed 1.7 million people. We can’t even deal with that. I think, you know, we think if – if somebody kills someone, that’s murder, you go to prison. You kill 10 people, you go to Texas, they hit you with a brick, that’s what they do. Twenty people, you go to a hospital, they look through a small window at you forever. And over that, we can’t deal with it, you know? Someone’s killed 100,000 people. We’re almost going, “…Well done! You killed 100,000 people? Ahhh. You must get up very early in the morning. I can’t even get down the gin! Your diary must look odd. Get up in the morning, death, death, death, death, death, death, death, lunch…death, death, death afternoon tea…death, death, death, quick shower.” You know. So, uh, so I suppose we’re glad that Pol Pot’s under house arrest – you know, 1.7 million people. At least he – we know where he is – under house arrest. Just don’t go in that fucking house, you know?

Every moment in our lives, every event, every situation is another lesson to be learnt. For it to be taught, it first must be realized. Realization of a particular lesson can be extremely difficult simply because emotions control us at times of joy and/or sorrow. At those patches in our lives, we as human beings are overwhelmed with feelings to the point where we are blinded. Emotions hinder us from detaching ourselves from the situation. The ability to detach ourselves from an event, allows us to reflect and clearly think about it. This un bias thought allows one to analyze his or her actions and the eventual outcome. The simple use of logic will prevent harsh feelings towards another party and also teach a lesson. Judgments made simply out of emotions usually lead humans down the road of distrust, hate, and violence. The ability to analyze and realize lessons is a key part of in the growth of us as individuals. Each lesson learned allows a person to better function in the world surrounding us. When our emotions rule, many times the net result is unneeded ill will towards others. On the other hand, when we are un bias and thoughtful, we as humans are more likely to realize that our particular situation is not as bad as it can be and we are more likely to truly forgive.
