So yeah, I saw Harry Potter on Friday night. It was so awesome - better than the first. Now I can't wait for the third one to come out - or more importantly, the FIFTH BOOK! But I love Ron's facial expressions, especially during the spiders bit. He's hilarious!!
Oh, and Lord of the Rings is On Dec 18 =)

Yay! I played 3 matches today, in the consolation, and I won all three of them. So I got 16 points and a medal. Too bad I have the stupid SAT IIs next month and I can't play in Austin. Hopefully I'll win the tournament in January and finally qualify to supers!! This is the first time I have ever won something in champs. Pretty good, since it's going on 3 years since I qualified for champs....

Weight: 340 lbs. (200 of which are my feet) alcohol units 0 (v.good) (not like I drink anyway) no. of football games seen this season 1 no. of matches I should have won but played like bollocks 1.
Can you tell I've been reading Bridget Jones too much? I just finished the second one. Anyways, last night I went to the football game, the last one of the season, because I promised Uche that I would see a game this season. He seemed really happy to see me there - most people were so surprised that I would go to a football game. I left after a 97 yard touchdown by Brazoswood that made it 24-0.
This morning I played a loong match against Katie Murray from Kingwood. I lost 6-3 1-6 5-7 (not v. good) I played awesome the first set and fell apart during the second, and I was up a break in the third but then lost it. grr. I should have won, but ah well. I play again tomorrow at 9.45. Hopefully I won't play so bad. At least I didn't have to play Carling like I would have if I won that match. I still wish I could have won. I want to qualify before I graduate. I was sooo hungry during that match because I hadn't eaten anything beforehand, and it lasted 2 hours. Note: eat food before playing tennis in 85 degree WINTER WEATHER IN HOUSTON!!
Tonight, Carling, D'Ondra, Katie, Amanda, and me are going out to dinner at Pappadeaux. It should be great fun.
My brother has 2 friends over here. They are playing dungeons and dragons, so they sound like 50000 friends. I'm going to go find a hiding place so my eardrums don't collapse.

7:46 pm - COLORADO!
|
Well, this weekend was really awesome. My dad and I went to Colorado to visit Colorado School of Mines. We left on Friday and got back home on Sunday.
When we got there on Friday, we could barely tell the difference between the land and the fog, because everything was all white. It was really..different. We ate at the Lone Star Steakhouse that night, which was amusing because everyone had on Texas Pride and Don't Mess with Texas shirts, and we were the ones from Texas.
Saturday morning was the Preview CSM thing. Before that, though, I had to make a snow angel. I wasn't just going to let all that snow melt without playing in it!! We got there and talked to a couple really nice students who told us a lot. One of them was a girl doing computer science, and she told us a lot of interesting stuff. I talked to a few people from Engineering, but they were kinda rude...
We went on a tour of the campus first. It was like 20 degrees, but it was really cool. Everything was covered in snow, and all the sidewalks and roads were covered in ice. I kept slipping and sliding on the ice, which was rather amusing. My dad's snowboot fell apart and he kept having to tie it together. The guy that took us around campus, Conor, seemed really cool and was pretty funny. The campus isn't too big - 5 blocks by 5 blocks - so you don't have to have a bike or anything to get to class. I would take my car if I went there though, because then I could drive into Denver, which is 15 minutes away, and to go skiing. The skiing places are only about an hour away. =)
We also went on tours of the Math/Comp Sci departments and the Engineering department. The comp sci professor we saw was funny, and from Belgium. The student that was helping do the presentation was teaching his computer how to play Tetris. It was really interesting to see what they were doing.
I talked to an admissions guy, and he told me that they didn't have a women's varsity team, but that they were organizing one, and they have a club team, and I can try out and play the guys on varsity. I thought that was pretty cool - I would love to play, especially if it'll get me money. It's a division II school, so I hopefully should be good enough to play...
After the tour, my dad and I walked around the campus and took pictures and looked around. I could have done that all day, but we saw the bookstore, so we went in there. My dad started talking to the girl working there, who happened to be co-oping at Dow in Lake Jackson, and is thinking about going to Baton Rouge. My dad used to work at Dow and now works in Baton Rouge, so they had a lot to talk about. My dad let me get a yellow Mines sweatshirt, and as we were buying it, the girl said it was snowing, so I ran outside. It was really cool, since I've never seen real snow falling from the sky before.
That night, we went to the Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Denver. We ate their awesome nachos and got some Tshirts and stuff before going back to the hotel. By the time we got back, it was snowing, and it started snowing pretty heavily so I went out and made a snowman. My dad stood in the hotel lobby until I was finished, and then took a picture. Turns out Bob was only about half a foot tall, but hey, it was a snowman!
Sunday morning, we wanted to go out into the mountains to see this mythical, actually clear Clear Creek, but we got on the road and found that everything was covered in a melting icy slush. Then we saw a sign that said "I-70 closed ahead, chains needed" so we turned around, and landed up sitting in the airport for 6 hours, staring at the mountains. Our plane was late because of thunderstorms in Houston, so when we got there, we had to sprint across IAH to get to our puddlejumper to Ellington in time. I tried to stand in the inter-terminal train doors to keep it from leaving, but I almost got stuck in between them, because it didn't even seem to notice that I was standing there. Luckily, I am still in one piece.
The puddlejumper wasnt as bad as I thought in the rain, but unfortunately, in true Continental fashion, they forgot to put our luggage on the plane, so we had to go back to Ellington at 9.30 to pick it up. At least they didn't completely lose it, this time.
All in all, it was a great weekend. I would love to go to CSM, so hopefully they'll give me one of their $12000 scholarships!!!

I've decided I like my cat, no matter how much she craps on the floor. I was just having an awful day yesterday, and landing up covered in cat pee didn't help matters. I love the animal, even if she can be the stupidest thing ever. I never would get rid of her, even if I say I will, I couldn't do it.
It's 18 degrees in Colorado. I'm going there tonight for the weekend. The high is 26, and its snowing. I've never seen snow fall and stick on the ground.

Today has been semi-productive. I worked on my comp sci program, and I have almost got it to where I want - I just have to make the die animated now. Fun stuff. I kinda worked on some essays - but not much - and kinda stared at my SAT II Math book. All this was before around 11, when I started working on my website, because it is sorely in need of tons of updates. I managed to post replies to all the messages on the message board and add some articles and a few pics before Ashley called.
We went out and had fun at the mall. I got a fire beanie and Ninja Turtles shirt from Hot Topic, and red shiny classic Adidas from Journeys. I spent a lot of money, but I haven't bought anything in a while and I needed new shoes anyways. It was fun. I am going to miss Ashley when she leaves tomorrow. I love her mom and grandmother =)
Ah well, I am going to do a lot more editing and probably no more homework tonight, besides looking for my English notebook that I lost.

Today = good. I read all of Bridget Jones' Diary, and am now aching to get a copy of the sequel. Too bad it costs $14. It only costs about 5 quid in England. Hmph.
Sweet Home Alabama was a good movie. As Ashley said - a perfect chick flick - predictability, romance, and comedy. $5 well spent. Thank you Cinemark, for having $5 movie tickets, while AMC had jacked them up to like $8.50.

I GOT INTO COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES!!!!!! Yay - now I can quit worrying that no colleges will accept me and I will get stuck at UT. If CSM gives me enough money in scholarships/financial aid, that is. But yay!! Less stress - which is good, since I have to turn in the app for IIT tonight...

9:11 pm - Life.
|
Hmm...well let's see, what's been going on lately?
I filled out a scholarship app for IIT on Tuesday, but apparently I have to have the school application finished by tomorrow, so I am frantically finishing that essay...
And every other college essay so I can get Mr. Fleming to read them on Tuesday.
That explains my total lack of updates on my James Blake site.
The tennis team played district on Friday. We barely beat Brazoswood - 10-8 or something to that effect, and me and Katie kicked butt in doubles even if we did play bad in the second set. However, Creek was not so good. We were up 7-6 5-2 and lost it 7-5 in the third. The team lost 10-3. So much for ever going to regionals with my team.
The Count of Monte Cristo is a good book.
I did the Walk for Diabetes this morning with my brother. Actually, I rollerbladed and he walked with Carol and talked her ear off about video games. Carol is really cool and didn't mind at all. It was fun, but I realized what I want for my birthday/Christmas - a pair of rollerblades that fit!! I think my feet have grown about half a size lately, because all my shoes and everything are getting rather tight.
I need to schedule my MIT interview but I am scared. I don't want to make an idiot out of myself.
I find out my SAT II scores this Friday. I will be praying all Thursday night.
Speaking of which, only Scrubs and Good Morning Miami out of my 5 shows on Thursday night will be new. Oh well, its better than nothing.
And plus, Smallville is new on Tuesday, and its going to be awesome.
I am going to Colorado in less than 2 weeks to see Colorado School of Mines! And I find out by November 25 if I got in or not!!
And hopefully - I will go to IIT and then stay with Julie from November 15-19, or somewhere around there.
November 19 - My birthday. I'll be able to vote, right after all the elections are over. Woo, and I'll be an adult.

I did awful on the SAT IIs. I didn't finish my essay in enough time, but I kinda went back during the test and finished it up. I didn't skip any on the Writing, but who knows how many I got right. I skipped 14 on the math, which is just bloody awful. And then Physics, I thought I had plenty of time, but I didn't, so I landed up skipping 19. 400s, here I come.
And then after the test I was talking to some people and said that I didn't want to cancel my scores because then I would wonder forever about what I got, and Tony said, "Well, how can you do worse than skipping 14?" Thanks for making me feel better, pal.

9:44 pm - I HATE COLLEGE BOARD!!!
|
They are so retarded. 280 people signed up to take the SATs/SAT IIs at Brook, but Brook isn't offering the SAT this weekend. The school called Collegeboard and asked about it, and they just said, "Ooops." They aren't notifying us or anything! So now, I have to find a new test center and get there 30 minutes ahead of time just to claim a spot, and they said that hopefully I will get to take the test. I BETTER TAKE THE TEST, or else there will be hell to pay.
Good news though - my dad is taking me to Colorado for the weekend from Nov 1- Nov 3, to visit Colorado School of Mines!!!
