Home at last, well, back at Rits anyway. None of my roommates have moved in yet, I know Fovia isn't coming until the end of the month, but maybe someone new will come before then. I finally got a job, just when I signed up to do all sorts of volunteering, and I got an interview at a second place. Some sort of cosmic joke, I guess. I am looking forward to new classes, but mostly to Sept. 24, the new season of Buffy and the party we are having to celebrate :) | Tuesday, August 13th, 2002 | 2:22 pm |
Good news! I get to move 'home' on the 19th!! I want to start packing right away but there is the possibility that the workmen will have to come into my room sometime this week to do whatever they are doing to the windows. I will be so glad to be away from all the construction here at Fairview! Until then, I'm just going to keep imagining all the wonderful things I am going to cook once the year begins and we start having little parties again :) | 1:49 pm |

Had a job interview at an ESL school downtown this morning...went pretty well, if I do say so myself. And you'll notice I do! I didn't really have to answer any questions other than, 'would I feel comfortable teaching a conversation class rather than tutoring'. I said, 'of course' and got to sit in on a class. And on Thursday I may be leading a class of my own as a trial. I'm so nervous! I want to stay calm and be professional and not let my nerves interfere, but it's hard:( I also registered for classes today - not fun. So many classes I want are full and I'm worried about the time line for my degree. If only I could get a BA in Buffy knowledge or something like that :) | Wednesday, April 24th, 2002 | 11:09 am |
End of the Year! Exams are finally over, but it's a little difficult to wrap my head around the fact that the year is over. I have to pack up all my things to take to summer res, and everyone will be going off their separate ways this week. As cliche as it sounds, it seems like just yesterday that we all were moving in and getting to know one another. But I am looking forward to the summer. I don't have a job yet but I already have some of the books for my Russian Lit class and I will be living near Tonia and Jonathan. I'm sure we're going to have a great summer. Especially since Spider-man opens next Friday! | Friday, April 12th, 2002 | 3:17 pm |

Last day of classes Here it is, the last day of classes, the entire campus is going nuts and I am sitting at work. I'm on until six and then I will be free just like the rest of the lunatics, I mean students! Tonight I am going to hang out with Tonia, she will be on duty all night in residence, watch movies and hopefully eat something since my last meal was breakfast. Untill then, I am making posters and surfing the net, trying to ignore the partying going on just outside the door. | Thursday, April 4th, 2002 | 10:14 am |

Jack Ryan Yippee! The new Jack Ryan movie will be out at the end of May, I'm so excited because I saw the trailer today. I love Harrison Ford, but I am so happy that Ben Affleck will be playing such a great character. Now if they would only make movies about Dirk Pitt my life would be complete. But I don't have any ideas about who would be good to play him. I also watched another trailer for Spider Man and I am very excited about seeing that. I went to see Men with Brooms and it was pretty fun for us Canadians, but Cat and Terry thought our reactions were funnier than the actual movie! | Wednesday, March 27th, 2002 | 10:47 pm |
Good Movie I just got back from watching Memento and I thought it was really good. But I have so many questions. I think that is the point, to keep you wondering what was really going on. I went to the movie website though, and it made me worry that the point of the movie might be something more simple than I would like it to be. Anyway, I liked it and I'm going to try to keep figuring things out in my head, if I can! | Monday, March 25th, 2002 | 1:08 pm |
Nothing out of the ordinary happened at school on Friday, but in the afternoon I went with Tonia to get my palm read. It was amazing and I am so glad I went. In the evening Fovia, Catherine and Johnathan 'kidnapped' me to Earls for dinner. They had also brought 'champagne' (sparkling apple juice) to my room at midnight and sang Happy Birthday. Altogether a fun birthday. Saturday was our residence annual boat cruise. I went out in the afternoon to buy a dress at Eatons, and we took the bus down to the harbour around 5:30. The vegetarian food was pretty bad, but we had fun dancing and admiring the view from the top deck of the boat. On Sunday I did none of the homework I should have and then watched the Oscars. The awards themselves were disappointing but I like the special segments. Today it is back to the grind, school and work. Tonight will be nice though, there is a new episode of The American Embassy. | Thursday, March 21st, 2002 | 12:47 pm |
Happy Thursday This term my favourite day is Thursday. I only have one class, at 3:00, and I like to sleep in and then be unproductive for the entire morning/early afternoon. This fits very well with my personal motto, which is: Dolce Far Niente (How Sweet to do Nothing). Of course, after my afternoon history class (which deserves an entire entry itself!) I will go to work and be as sickeningly productive as possible until the wee hours of the evening. These lazy Thursday mornings do have their drawbacks, after all, what doesn't? I have many hours in which to contemplate dangerous things that would otherwise be pushed to the back of my frazzled brain by classes and meetings and studying. What kind of dangerous things? Well, todays lucky winners are: a)Should I take a year off of school and do something interesting?(a trip to Russia is high on my list of 'things more interesting than English 320'), b)What classes should I register for in the summer term? Ones that will help my degree but will screw up the possibility of a semi-normal summer job, or classes that sound interesting and might prevent me from ending up off my nut due to continuous school? and finally, c) Considering that my birthday is tomorrow, do I think I have made good use of this life so far and if not, what can I do to change that? |
