Memories Okay yesterday after getting bored watching the Monday Night Football game I started to stroll around my apartment, where I found my college football poster I have been meaning to find a frame for. (It has been rolled up in the tube since it was delivered to my house. My parents lost it for a few years then all of the sudden they find it 4 years later.) Anyway with that I decided to go back and look at the good ole game film. Game 1: Thursday night game on Halloween vs Boston College. Highlight - Got called for a "Illegal Block in the back" penalty during a punt return. So then as the they go to commercial you get a close up of me on the sidelines pleading my case to my coach that I didn't touch the guy. Game 2: Blowout loss to Ohio St at the Horseshoe Highlight - Got blasted by a couple of linemen pulling toward me. Had to take them on. Made some tackles and got to play the entire second half mainly because the game was over by half time, they were up 45 - 0. At least I can say I played against Orlando Pace and David Boston, who returned a punt against us while having only 8 guys on their receiving team. Game 3: Close game against Virgina Tech Highlight - None really other than making a good block during a punt return. Can't really see it on tape, but I know I did it. Game 4: My favorite, despite the loss Notre Dame at South Bend Highlight - Having my name and home town being called out after I made a tackle. Halloween Today I am tired as SHIT!!! Yesterday was Halloween and man was I ever in a mood to celebrate. I started off the day by dressing up for work. We had a costume party and I decided to be Goku from Dragon Ball Z. I told my friends about a week ago I was going to and as they all know I am a man of my word. After work a few coworkers and I went out to get drinks. After the success of the party and all I was good to celebrate. Well we went to Houlhans and I ordered the pitcher of Long Island Ice Tea. That was all the motivation I needed to go out that night. So afterwards I pulled my usually solo routine and headed into the City. So I headed out to Jersey City to catch the PATH to ride the train in. Unfortunately I only had big bills on me so I needed change for my trip. As I was walking to the station I figured I'll get change somewhere at the bar, but I didn't want to feel like an ass asking the bartender for change without ordering a drink. So I ordered another L.I. sat down and watched the Wizards spank the Celtics ass. (Watch out for Kwame Brown, for you fanatsy B.B. guys i'd pick him up A.S.A.P) Okay now i realize I'm hunger, so I order some chicken tenders, the honey mustard was off the hook, and another L.I. to pass time while I wait. Halloween party didn't start till 10 and it was only 8:30. I eat, watch the game then have a beer for the road. I walk a block catch my train and next thing I know I am on 23rd st, only 2 blocks from the club, Serena. Nice lil chill place. Majority of people were dressed up which was cool. Had another drink and it was on. I don't think I stood still after that point, was dancing all night. During the night I meeet this from Cali girl dressed as a devil. Man she could dance, so I was on that on that for a good portion of the night. She was enrolled at F.I.T. which is a few blocks up the street. So me being the good guy I walked her home. Her friends left her so she decied to leave. So after I got her number and dropped her off it was about 1:30. As I walking back down the street I decided instead of heading back to jersey I'd go back to the club. The next thing I knew it was about 2:30 and I still needed to catch the PATH back to jersey so I could drive home. Well to make a long story short, I went to bed at 4, and somehow heard my radio alarm to wake up at 7:20 and got to work at 8. DAMN I'm good!!! Problems!!! "Now that the thrill ride is over, Gen X's plight seems particularly bruising. No generation since the Depression has been set up for failure like this. Everything the dot-com boom delivered has been taken away--and then some. Real wages are falling, wealth continues to shift from younger to older, and education costs are surging. Worse yet, for some Gen Xers, their peak earning years are behind them. Buried in college and credit card debt, a lot of them won't be able to catch up as they approach their prime spending years." Help Me!!!! Yo I was so bored today it was ridiculous. I had nothing today, was there anything for me to do. It's Been A Long Time!!!! Well I know many of you have been dying to read the crazy ass LJ entries I write. Sorry to keep you waiting. Just haven't really been in the mood to write shit down, since nothing interesting was going on in my life(also been busy as hell). Not that there is anything interesting going on, just I decided to sit and say hello to my fellow LJ users. Okay enough explaining myself, time for the dirt. First off the best time of the year has finally arrived, thats right football season is here. About F-ing time. I was sick of having nothing to do on saturdays. Now I no longer feel guilty for spending all day sat & sun sitting on my ass watching as much football as I possible can. Saturdays are the best, thanks to multiple stations carrying games, I can watch up to 4 games at once. Isn't college football great! Sundays depends on the schedule of the damn Giants, this because I live in North Jersey. Which sucks cause I am a Eagles fan. Due to TV rules and all, if the Giants play at home the game proceeding it or after is blacked out. So far that hasn't been a problem, and I wont have to deal with this weekend cause I will be in south jersey. Now with Pro Football comes Fantasy Football, and right I am 0-2 in all three leagues I am playing in. Looks like it will be a long ass season with that shit. Okay outside of football you'd assume I have a life, but unfortunately I don't. The last few weeks whatever time is left over from working or watching football is spend studying for my LSATs, which I will be taking for the 2nd time on Oct 5th, in hopes of improving my score. I know many of you are thinking what the hell is an engineering major doing with law, well to inform the masses, I hope to get into patent law, which is a combination of law and engineering. Sweet right. If all goes right I will have accomplished my 5 year goal I made for myself after I graduated from college, to have my law degree. Other that not much. Oh wait I forgot one thing. This girl I was love with, got in touch with me by email yesterday. I haven't seen her in 5 years since I transfered from Pitt and last night was the first time we spoke in over 2 years. Crazy right. So when I go to my parenst house this weekend, hopefully I'll squeeze time in to see her. Now at the same time there is this other girl I met about 2 weeks ago. Since last when we first started calling each other we speak almost everyday. She is a senior at Temple. I promised her I'd come see her this weekend first. What to do. Also my parents are flying out Nigeria this weekend for 2 weeks, I have to drop my car for service because of a recall to fix the ignition switch, study for my LSATs and watch ND and The Eagles play, DAMN its going to be on hectic weekend!!! History repeats itself! These days kids have no imagination. They hardly go outside and play, which is why so many of them are overweight. The stuff they have on TV sucks. I've tried to watch some the shows for them and they are bad. Gone are the days of G.I. Joe, Transformers and He-Man, or are they. It seems in recent years people have dug up the past in hopes of attracting the next generation. Transformers is back on the scene on sat, however I must admit I am not a fan of the new style, but they did bring the movie back and some episodes on DVD. G.I. Joe can be seen late nights on the Cartoon Network and last but not least He-Man has been reborn with a 2 hour movie coming on Cartoon Network tomorrow at 4, which I plan to tape. So guess it is true you can never forget the past. Current Mood: nostalgic | Friday, August 9th, 2002 | 1:15 am |
YO JOE!!! Yo G.I. Joe is back on tv!!! All u got to do is hit up the cartoon network at 1 am. Seeing this on tv made my night! | Tuesday, August 6th, 2002 | 8:55 am |
Live Shows If you ever get a chance to check out The Roots or Outkast perform live go. They put on a great show. Last night I checked them out at the Smokin Grooves concert. The entire show was good, Cee-Lo, Jurassic 5, Lauryn Hill, but The Roots & Outkast I feel cheated because I wanted more. | 8:36 am |
O Canada Toronto was hot as expected. The women out there, good lord. Not only are they beautiful but they are cool as hell. Each night I was there I met someone at the club & got the number. Shit like that hardly ever happens here in NJ or NYC. Now whether or not Ima get to use them, we shall see...Now back to TO, places we hit up, Zanizbar, if you got time to burn during the day check it out. Nothing like a little nudity to jump start a trip... The Gouvernment Complex, this place had too many rooms to count. I feel bad because I didn't check the place out. Was occupied on the dance floor, but from what I heard from my boys the place is huge. Guess that is why they call it the Gouvernment Complex... The Court House, nice club with a more older crowd. (19 is the legal age in Canada) Music sucked at first, but got better as the night went on, and the woman. Oh Boy!!! I see why I am always anxious to go visit Canada every year. Road Trip Okay the time has finally arrived. After months of waiting its time to hit the road. Sometime tonight my brother, myself and a few other friends will be driving out to Toronto for the weekend. What for, well to take part in a big Caribbean festival called Caribana. I've been there twice in '97 & '98 and man it is one hell of a party that I can't wait to take part in again. Then when we get back I have a bonus treat, monday I am going to see Laurel Hill, Outkast & The Roots perform at the Smokin Grooves Concert. Shit I don't think I'll be getting much sleep over the next few days. Current Mood: excited | Wednesday, July 24th, 2002 | 11:40 am |
Hump Day!!! Well today is wednesday which mean I have only 12 more hours to productive (4 today 8 tomorrow). Once its friday the goal is look as busy as possible for 8 hours until the day is over and the weekend can begin. Current Mood: bored | Monday, July 22nd, 2002 | 4:35 pm |
I want to be a BUM!!! Work SUCKS!!! I repeat, work sucks. I wish I didn't have to work in order to have money. Better yet I wish I'd win the lottery. This way I can avoid having to deal with other peoples' bullshit and having to fix their screw ups. I don't need the money to be rich, just so I can pay back the money spent to get my college degree which was supposed to land me an great job! Recaptured Youth!!! Well it looks like I have found something new, or rather gone back to something old. A few days ago I bought a mountain bike, which I picked up yesterday. After struggling to get it out of my car and getting the damn rear wheel on I was out. I just rode and rode. Didn't care where I was going, and was in no rush to head back home. Man words can't express how I felt, it was like I just awoke from a long dream or something. While I was riding it reminded me of how I missed the days when I was younger and I'd used to just ride my bike for hours. Forgot about that. It is amazing how we take the littlest things for granted. Well thanks to a new friend I am hooked. Hopefully this weekend I can take it off road. VACATION!!! Okay last week I had my first real vacation of the summertime. Since I had friday off I went down to Ocean City, Maryland courteous of Arvin. He rented a place out for the week and invited heads to come stay. Steve had passed the word to us NJ/NY heads and I was hooked. So on wednesday I made the trip south to join up with Arvin, his friend Gus and Amanda for one chilled out trip. So let the adventure begin. Wednesday Night: First night down there Arvin, Gus and myself went to the spot that everyone knows Ocean City for, Seacrests. It is a Jamaican style beach resort in the U.S. As soon as you walk in you feel that vibe that you are in the caribbean or something, well at least I did. I guess it was the rum and cokes and the shot of Black Haas taking affect. Anyway once inside Arvin puts me on to this frozen drink they have called a "Pain in the Ass", 1/2 Rum Runner, 1/2 Pina Colada. I think I was already numb to the alcohol to really taste it in the drink. All I know is that it was cold and sweet and got me drunk. So at this time I am charged up and am ready to start dancing. Seeing as how I didn't care too much and was on vacation I jumped to the first girl who was willing to dance. Turns out the girl I chose was a little thick, (Arv kept busting my ass when we got back to the room and the next day) but she had pretty face and I wanted to dance. Afterwards we left and the 4 of us, Arv played wingman and picked up her friend and we went to the beach. Chilled for a bit then head back to 70th street. Thursday: Well thursday early our 4th person came into town. Amanda joined us, so now the gang was complete. We woke up at 9:30 and headed to the beach. Man was it hot as hell out there. It seemed as if the more suntan lotion I'd put on the more i was sweating. Felting like I was cooking on the beach. They only way to cool down was to jump in the ocean. So that was the routine until about 12, when we went to grab something to eat. Gus hooked us up with some banging sandwiches that hit the spot. After eating I was down to do some Roller Blading. Amanda had her's with her so it was the 2 of us cruising down the street. Man I wish I could see the faces of the people driving as they passed us by. I know it had to throw them off seeing this big black dude roller blading down the street with his shirt off. And to make matters worse I was sweating my ass off. My stupid ass decided to have a rum and coke with my sandwich for lunch only 15 mins earlier. So the whole time all I could taste was rum. (Thank you Amanda for waiting up for me each time I feel behind.) We rode down to 30th St and then turned around. On the way back we made a stop at 7-11 for some Slurpees...Once we got back it was back to the beach for some more sun and boogieboarding. Later on we ended up eating at this overrated hole in the wall resturaunt called Capt Bob's. What a rip off. The claim you can eat by the water, inside. We just ended up eating out in the front. The ice cream we picked up on the way back was better than my whole meal. Oh well...Later on we went to this local bar/club called Scandals. Another waste, but I think it didn't matter because we were too beat to really do anything. Friday: Up at 9:30 again, but htis time Amanda and I started the day off Roller Blading. This time we headed down to 17th St before heading back. Going was cool but heading back the head wind was kicking my ass. (Once again thank you Amanda for waiting up for me) Once we got back it was off to the beach for some sun and a chance to break in my just bought boogieboard. We stayed till about 4, then went out trying to find a place to rent some waverunners. Turns out every place was booked for the day so we made reservations for saturday, then headed out to Seacrests. Being there during the was a good move. Got to see many women in their bikinis. Oh the joy! So while we were there we headed to the back by the bay where the have flats step up for you to lay out on, while the come up and serve you drinks out on the water. Cool deal, so long as you don't spill your drink...After about an hour or so it was off to Belly Busters to pick up our steamed crab for dinner. Man we tore those suckers up back at the room. So far that was the beast meal of the whole trip. After being more tired of openning the crabs up, then eating them it was time for a nap. After a some more rum and cokes it was off to Seacrest again for some more Pain the Ass. Saturday: Got up and ready and out the door at 10:45 so we coould make our 11 o'clock appointment for the Waverunners. Arv and Gus on one, Amanda and me on the other. 1 hour of riding 900 cc is no joke. These joints hit a top speed of 50 mph and are moving. The scaries part is not driving them, but instead being the passenger, cause you have nothing to realy hold onto. One nasty bump and your ass can fly off. Lucky mine didn't. I had the kung fu grip on the seat and my legs were holding me up. Afterwards my legs fely like jello and my forarms were killing me. Good thing we didn't have to go far to eat, with a place next by serving food. This time we really ate by the water...After the meal it was off to the beach again. Not as hot so we didn't have to hit the water. Ate some ice cream on the boardwalk then headed back to 70th St. Packed up, headed out to Belly Busters for dinner then it was back to South Jersey.
