Welcome!
This website makes use of PNG images. If you're having problems, you're probably using an older web browser. I recommend Mozilla.
Incidentally, the background of the image on the right should be semitransparent, and the backgrounds of the black images farther down on the page should be fully transparent. If they aren't, your browser doesn't handle PNG alpha channels properly. Mozilla and Netscape 6 seem to do well; Internet Explorer 6.0, disappointingly enough, renders them as solid.
All of this page is about me, in a sense. But I thought some general information was in order. My name is David Brodbeck. I'm currently living in Ypsilanti, Michigan and working at InterClean Equipment, Inc. in Ann Arbor as a system administrator. Feel free to read my resume or send me email.
Because gull.com, gull.org, and gull.net were already taken, of course!
Okay, okay. Birds have always fascinated me. They're so different than mammals, in lots of subtle and not-so-subtle ways, and they can fly, something I've always wanted to do. I'm not sure exactly why gulls in particular interest me; I think it's because they're unassuming, common birds, without the symbolic attachments that, say, eagles and hawks have. Yet they're graceful and versatile fliers.
I've driven a diverse collection of cars over the years. The page linked above collects various automotive links, mostly maintenance-related.
I've been interested in all things electronic for years. The page linked above is a big collection of technical references and other links that I've found useful.
Another long-term hobby of mine. The pages linked below have some of my best work.
"...we can find ourselves as creatures of excellence and intelligence and skill. We can be free! We can learn to fly!" -- Jonathan Livingston Seagull
A big collection of humor links and text files. Mostly geek humor, though there are also links to some of my favorite online comic strips.
I'm a bit of a weather junkie. Here are some links I often use:
Odd links that didn't fit anywhere else:
