I don't take anything very seriously, but when it comes to my members' privacy, I fake it well enough that nobody's going to be able to tell the difference. And what more could you ask for? This privacy policy governs the use of Plastic.com (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy does not apply to your use of unaffiliated sites to which the Site only links. Please be aware that, even though you're free to blame me, and you probably will anyway, knowing you. All the same, I'm just not all that responsible for the privacy practices of other sites. By using Plastic.com, you signify your acceptance of this Privacy Policy and are aware that this policy may change over time.

| where and how the information is collected | |
|
Plastic collects information from users in three ways: voluntary submission, cookie technology, and traffic data. Plastic collects personally identifiable information such as names, email addresses, and demographic information when voluntarily submitted.
Each time a user visits Plastic, I count, track, and aggregate the user's activity into my analysis of general traffic flows. My Web server recognizes no information regarding the individual identity or email addresses of users, but not really. Lawyers don't really understand how any of this works...
Because I allow users to customize their preferences, I maintain a user profile in my databases based on the passwords of a user saving only their custom preferences they have selected in relation to their use of the Site... um, I have no idea what this sentence is supposed to mean.
The use of cookies is an industry standard on the Internet. Cookies are a software technology that helps us enhance your browsing experience and customize Plastic to your preferences. Passwords are saved in cookies to avoid users having to repeatedly log in when they want to enter Plastic. Plastic uses cookies to collect non-personally identifiable information about the individual user. Nonpersonal identification information might include the browser you use and other similar information. My system also automatically gathers information about the areas you visit on Plastic and about the links you may select from within Plastic to other areas of the World Wide Web or elsewhere online... except that it doesn't, and never has. Maybe some day. You may choose to set up your browser to refuse cookies or alert you when cookies are sent. However, this may limit some features of Plastic.

| how the information is used | |
|
The information you provide helps me make Plastic and more responsive to you, the user. When you become a registered member of Plastic, you may, if you elect to do so, receive updates about Plastic's services. Not that I send any out.
I also track the total number of visitors to Plastic in aggregate form (as a group) to allow me to update and improve the Site, and to tell others something about the people who come to Plastic. I will not share any detailed individual member information with others unless you explicitly agree to my doing so.
At my discretion, I may make the information about Plastic's users available in aggregate form, with no personal identifiers, to help describe Plastic's members to business partners, co-branded sites, the industry, the public, as well as Plastic's members themselves.
Information gathered will help me customize Plastic and target make-believe advertising and sponsorships based on the aggregate demographics and purchasing patterns of Plastic's members.
I do not sell, share, rent, or intentionally make publicly available users' personal information, including email addresses, except as provided herein. This information is used by me only for internal purposes. The information will be secured by electronic, contractual, and other procedures to prevent unauthorized use. I have the following exceptions to these policies: I will release specific information about you or your account to comply with any valid legal process, such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute, or court order. I will also release specific information in special cases, such as if there is an attempted breach of the security of the Site, or a physical threat to you or others.

I may, from time to time, send email messages to you containing advertisements, promotions, etc., if you have requested to receive such messages, but it's highly unlikely. In fact, there's no way for you to request such messages, if you were the type of person to actually want these rumored promotional messages - and we both know you aren't. I make no representation or warranty with respect to the content of any such email messages or any goods or services that may be obtained from third parties, and you agree that neither I nor such third party shall have any liability with respect thereto.
Please remember that whenever you voluntarily disclose personal information in public areas of the Sites, your information can be viewed and possibly used by others. I advise you not to disclose information that can be used to contact you directly if you don't want others to obtain that information, like your full name, home address, or phone number.

I understand that young people need special safeguards and privacy protection. I realize that they may not understand all the provisions of my policy or be able to make thoughtful decisions about the choices that are made available to Plastic's adult members. I urge all parents to participate in their children's exploration of the Internet and any online services, and to teach their children about protecting their personal information while online.
Plastic has the following special policies to protect the privacy of users who are under 13 years old:
No information may be submitted to Plastic by users under 13 without the consent of their parent or guardian.
Users under 13 may not register with Plastic on their own. A user under 13 may be registered only by a parent or guardian.
If a user under 13 wins a contest for which such user is eligible, notification and prizes will be sent to the parent or guardian who initially registered the user.
No personal information concerning users under 13 will be used for any marketing or promotional purposes.
By using any of the Sites, you signify your acceptance of my Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to this policy, please do not use Plastic. Your continued use of the Sites following the posting of changes to these terms will mean that you accept those changes.
