wow.

stabbed himself in the chest. At least he went out cooler then those who used a gun.

8 years to the day shannon hoon died.

A knife through the chest. How the fuck to you get to that point. No pun intended. But really can you see yourself doing that? I mean I can see the slashing of a wrist. And the pull of a trigger. But the stab of a knife?

That fucking sucks. i like him.

it's 4:20 and I am not at work.

K Records' Calvin Johnson Hospitalized; Benefit Shows Planned
Hospital staff put indie hero on deer catastrophe waitlist
[Posted Tuesday, October 21st, 2003 04:00:00 Pitchfork Central Time]

Eric Marth reports:
According to K Records manager Mariella Luz, label founder Calvin Johnson and the members of Dub Narcotic Sound System were injured last Wednesday, October 15th, when their tour van swerved to avoid a deer en route to Fargo, ND. Though drummer Heather Dunn felt "pretty beat up and feeling quite sore" after the accident, Dub Narcotic bassist Chris Sutton and Johnson both required hospitalization. "Chris broke his jaw, which required surgery," Luz told Pitchfork via e-mail. "Calvin broke three ribs, dislocated his shoulder and has a pretty bad concussion."

Both Sutton and Dunn returned home to Olympia, WA this past Saturday, though Johnson remains hospitalized in Billings, MN. He is expected to be released later this week, according to Luz. The group's tourmate, Old Time Relijun, will continue to play their scheduled dates.

To alleviate some of the accruing medical costs, K Records have set up the Dub Narcotic Sound System Medical Fund. Donations can be made through the post or on the web through K Records' online catalog.

Radiohead Offer "2 + 2 = 5" Single In November; Greenwood's Bodysong Due Later This Month
Crunchiest Schoolhouse Rock number yet

Joshua Sharp and John L. Ferrer report:
Rocketing into the air on the propulsive force of their onion-powered jetpacks, Radiohead have announced the release date for their forthcoming single. Of course, they just wouldn't be the band who brought us "Creep" if they didn't deliver this news in an unorthodox and indisputably precarious manner. Come next month, the single(s) for "2 + 2 = 5" will hit UK shoppes all spread-out like on two CD's and a DVD to boot. Across the various formats, the single will feature a remix of "Myxomatosis" by Christian Vogel (perhaps better known as "a guy who makes experimental techno"), a demo version of "There There" (or is it "The Boney King of Nowhere"? Keep us on our toes, o kings of awkward pretension!), the original mix of "I Will", and a boneshockin' remix of "Scatterbrain" courtesy of electro-acoustic snugglebunny (and erstwhile tourmate of the emerald isle) Four Tet. The DVD will include clips for both the title track and for "Sit Down, Stand Up." The raindrops, the raindrops, the tracklist:

Disc one:
01 2 + 2 = 5
02 Myxomatosis (Christian Vogel remix)
03 There There [demo]

Disc two:
01 2 + 2 = 5
02 Scatterbrain (Four Tet remix)
03 I Will [first mix]

DVD:
01 2 + 2 = 5
02 Sit Down, Stand Up

Yes, you read that correctly: the trend-bucking troubadours are actually playing back-to-back nights on both of New York's preeminent late-night talk shows, against all conventional booking norms. They're Radiohead, man, they can do that. Incidentally, fansite Green Plastic Radiohead informs us that Radiohead were the first-ever musical guests on Conan O'Brien's program ten years ago.

Now that the math portion of our examination is over, let's move straight on to biology, shall we? Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood's soundtrack to the film Bodysong will finally be released October 27th in the UK with the film following the first week in November, according to New Musical Express. The tracklist runs thusly:

01 Moon Trills
02 Moon Mall
03 Trench
04 Iron Swallow
05 Clockwork Tin Soldiers
06 Convergence
07 Nudnik Headache
08 Peartree
09 Splitter
10 Bode Radio/Glass Light/Broken Hearts
11 24 Hour Charleston
12 Milky Drops From Heaven
13 Tehellet

Bodysong tells "the story of an archetypal human life using images taken from all around the world and the last 100 years of cinema," according to the official website for the project. "Every possible depiction of the human life, from microscopic, medical [footage] to portraits and newsreels, from births to deaths, are cut to a powerful music track by Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead to create a powerful and highly emotional film, with peaks of ecstasy and troughs of despair." So it's like School of Rock?

Speaking of ecstacy and despair, by all means check out the funny and fascinating article from the San Francisco-area East Bay Express, in which a fifth-grade teacher played a collection of Radiohead songs to a group of uninterested students, instructing them to draw what they were inspired by the music to create. Grim reapers, suicide booths, thousand-foot ice cream cones and self-loathing mountain climbers abound.

well tomorrow I find out if I get to be moved to first shift. We hired another guy today and the other dood is ready to take over my job.

Oh man I could have a life again.

I am trying to download the spearhead show my love and I went to in 2002. And due to the insanely slow computer we have it will take the rest of the year to finish. I wish I had DSL again.

I was so tired today. I mean no energy at all. Slow as a snail. Until someone gave me two of the herbal nitro pills of legal speed. All I can recall now is that I am home and the last thing I remember is 7:30 pm. and I got all my work done.

so pitchfork media is a good music news site. Are there any other good music news sites?

I want to take a trip. Have a vacation that last more then 4 days. Some new state. Amsterdamn was so much fun. And the cruise. And the beach. And the others. Now I want to drive for awhile and go somewhere new.

Whats a good state?

everyone deserves music.

went down to the house today and saw 11 puppies. and fed chickens.

Kahn is in Boston. again. for 11 days.

put more halloween stuff up.

I want a new job. I thought about going back to the Fire Dept. again. Maybe if I get first shift. I miss being a firefighter.

Watched Nightmare Before Christmas today.

I want a PS2.

Huggies Thong.

I smile. Not cause I'm a freak or anything.

If I slap my computer will that make it go faster or do I have to look at it all mean like with the eye of glare?

So our room is all halloweeny now.

I think Kill Bill looks alright. I'm not to into Karate movies but this one looks alright. I also need to see Lost In Translation. And Texas Chainsaw. and and and.

Went with the family up to Running Springs to make dad and brandon dinner while they put in a deck on this nice cabin. It was fun. Also went to the pumkin patch. I'm aware I spelled that wrong.

I like yucaipa in the fall.

Disneyland and Knotts this month. oogie boogie at the hunted mansion.

I'm bored and novembers asleep. She said she wasn't feeling good.

1. Dear Mr. Bush, is it true that the bin Ladens have had business relations with you and your family off and on for the past 25 years?

2. Dear “Mr. President,” what is the “special relationship” between the Bushes and the Saudi royal family?

3. Dear “Mr. President,” who attacked the United States on September 11th—a guy on dialysis from a cave in Afghanistan, or our friends, the Saudi Arabians?

4. Dear “Mr. President,” why did you allow a private Saudi jet to fly around the U.S. in the days after September 11th and pick up members of the bin Laden family and then fly them out of the country without a proper investigation by the FBI?

A new question is being ran in the New York Times to promote Mr. Moore's new Book "Dude, Wheres my Country?"

I guess it's going to be pretty kick ass and I want to get it but I'm broke.

Why have dreams about Dura. Al was running for gov.

I'm fucking tired.

So I finally asked larry about being moved to first shift. I said no big deal don't need to be moved quick just down the road if someone got fired or quit. Eddie got fired that same day. But do to my luck and being the only other Spa guy I have to train someone how to do it first and then I get to go. My boss Joe seemed a little upset about it. And James said he would leave if I splt cause he needs my help. All understandable.

But jesus christ it's putting boxes on a palet and putting stickers on them. Thats it. Dead monkeys could do this job. Train someone! I could do this job with my eyes shut.

I'm just tired of working from 3:00pm to 11:30pm and getting home at 12:00am. I have no life. I see no people. I barely get to see my love. Thank god we live together or I would never see her.

I get paid and go broke today. Damn car insurance.

Listen to Spearhead.

The littles are going nuts around our room. Pretty soon Valcor will be gone. sad face.

conan is fucked up.

And it's Fucking October. Yes the month everyone loves more then the other months. This is also the birth month of my love. and her mom.

Flaming lips are putting out a few cds soon. Nothing to new. An EP and a re-release of yoshimi with a dvd and six extra songs. happy.

I would like to see them again.

I would also really love to go to All Tomorrows Parties.

I had some fucked up dreams about new open roads and monster mutant people in video stores. And I spit on some kid for no reason and hid behind l.c's house which was backwards and his door was open but he was sleeping. It was really dark and there were some freaky ass pictures that scared me. I don't know. No drugs either. just bad food before bed.

I like dreams.

I want to see movies of my dreams.

KROQ had Breakfast with Radiohead this morning. I taped some of it. thanks to the heads up from kahn.

well happy october. and good night.

Power to the peaceful

Yeah so work is still boring.

Not as fun as radiohead at all. I wish I could be not working and playing my new playstation or watching my family guy dvd. Oh wait i'm not mateo.

You can bomb the world to pieces but you can't bomb it into peace.

So you should go buy Power to the Peaceful by Micheal Franti and Spearhead cause it's the best damn music I've heard in a long time.

I also bought the new Black Heart Procession and it's not as good as I had hoped.

I wish I would have bought Aesop Rocks new one instead.

I miss being in Hollywood. That was good times.

and mikie told me I need to see Lost in Translation. It's fucking good he says.

I need something sweet. Who wants to make me cookies?

and what the fuck happened to depi and L.C. I don't work with the guy no more and they stop coming over.

but depi did bring nusan a pineapple candy thingy and she was happy.

I miss my baby, she has a bad headache
cause her thoughts are fighting their way out
and someday when that day will come
we'll find ourselves outside in the sun
hoping this day will never end
and if it does we won't complain
we just go inside away from the rain and hide till better days come

been awhile

Supergrass not so much though. I wasn't at all impressed and I really tried to like them.

7.00 dollar beer! Fuck that.

and I forgot you can bring picnic baskets into the Hollywood bowl. So the next show I'm bringing food.

Seats were good. Just everything was perfect. The video of the band on the side speakers was really cool.

The whole band just connected so well. Nothing beats seeing Radiohead outdoors.

And hanging out with my love in Hollywood was great. We ate at Mels Diner and walked around Hollywood Blvd and drove through Beverly Hills.

It was a great friday.

I made the mistake of drinking crappy bud last night. But it was out of a keg. I guess that makes the shit tatse better. Oh well free food. The strippers never showed up thank god. I dig boobs and all but I'm not a stripper fan.

All in all I'm glad it's sunday. And I have apple crisp and cider from Oak Glen. I hope.

I'm dead tired now.

KC at work had a heart atack and is no longer with us. And by with us I mean DURA.

Finished Chuck P's Diary. It was good. I was hoping for some twist or something freaky but it's pretty straight forward. A good story though. A little different then the others.

blagh sleepy time.

For men so devoted to the slow, careful development of sound, Ohio's Six Parts Seven sure like to keep busy. First up is a split EP with fellow Ohioites The Black Keys, which, although Six Parts Seven's role only consists of only one track, promises to offer "a blissful taste of what's to come on their fourth full-length," according to the Suicide Squeeze website. The Black Keys' offerings are slightly more substantial, with three tracks culled from a live recording on WMBR-- one song from each of their full-lengths, and one from an early Alive Records seven-incher. The CD EP came out just last week on Suicide Squeeze. Tracklist:

01 Six Parts Seven: "A Blueprint of Something Never Finished"
02 The Black Keys: "Thickfreakness" [live on WMBR]
03 The Black Keys: "The Moan" [live on WMBR]
04 The Black Keys: "Yearniní" [live on WMBR]

Second on the docket is the November release of Six Parts Seven's (sorta) remix project, also on Suicide Squeeze. Titled Lost Notes From Forgotten Songs, the album consists of tracks from their back catalog, in addition to the new track above, bequeathed to indie luminaries like Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse and David Bazan of Pedro the Lion for vocal additions, massive reworkings, and/or basically whatever the chosen artist wanted to do to them. Not to editorialize (too much), but you can download a taste of the album from the Suicide Squeeze website, in the form of the Iron & Wine-overdubbed version of "Sleeping Diagonally." Overly-clever titling concept aside (see below), it bodes well for the project as a whole. In any case, Lost Notes From Forgotten Songs is scheduled for release on November 11th (though Suicide Squeeze has it available for pre-order as we speak). Tracklist:

01 Sleeping Diagonally (re-made by Sam Beam of Iron & Wine)
02 On Marriage (re-defined by Jenn Ghetto & Mat Brooke of Carissa's Weird)
03 From California to Houston, on Lightspeed (re-volutionized by Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse)
04 Song of Impossible Things (re-alized by Will Johnson of Centro-matic)
05 Seems Like Most Everything Used to be Something Else (re-assembled by Pall Jenkins of The Black Heart Procession)
06 Attitudes of Collapse (re-shaped by John Atkins of The Magic Magicians)
07 Now Like Photographs (re-invented by Brian Straw)
08 Cold Things Never Catch Fire (re-vitalized by Katie Eastburn of Young People)
09 A Blueprint of Something Never Finished (re-deemed by David Bazan of Pedro the Lion)

I go through days were I really miss Humboldt.

And thats usually after reading the humboldt kids journals and all the fun they have.

But when they name places I have been to I see them again. I miss redwood park. I miss fortuna. I miss the beach and arcata. Finding pot on the ground. Jesus how many places do you find pot laying on the ground?

I miss the air. I miss our little home. i miss dj turtle.

But I don't miss the not having a job and not having any food. And being scared when november burned her hand and feeling helpless. I don't miss our terrible ex room mates who seemed so cool till we had to leave.

I just miss the postive.

I want to go back up and vist though. At least we have turtle to go back and see.

It was like working with the living dead yesterday.

Watched Muppetts from Space before work.

I would go down stairs and eat. But there is no food.

and I am already broke. But I will save from no on.

And Friday november and I will hit the streets of Hollywood for a little "US" day before radiohead.
