I just now remembered that Jocke had a birthday recently... on the 16th to be exact. And it was his 33rd birthday to be even more exact. =) So happy belated birthday, Jocke!

Hi everybody! I just barely joined this community. Get this: Last night I developed my own Kent community and was just about to publicize it when I did another search and found this community. Needless to say I'm going to delete mine and make a community for another favorite band of mine. ;)
Anyhow, my name is Krystal. I'm a college student from Texas. Nuff said for now.

small changes |

I changed around the design of the community a little bit, made the links easier to see, and changed the background picture since the old one didn't look too good. Hope everyone likes it!

this is great, a kent community <3
i adore kent, i've been a fan for about 4 years now. i can't really remember how i got to know them, but i think it was b-sidor that made me fall in love with it. i've been to two concerts so far and could easily describe them as two of the greatest experiences in my life so far.
i've been trying to hunt down some older singles but haven't been very successfull :/

hey everyone,
i just joined this community. kent is by far one of the best bands i've heard in a long time. it's too bad that they're not touring the states. anyhow, i love both the swedish and the english records. anything kent is fine by me.
carry on.

While poking around on Ticnet (Sweden's version of Ticketmaster) to buy Paul McCartney tickets, I stumbled upon a listing for Kent at Stadion (the old Olympic stadium) in Stockholm on 6 June.
Is anyone else here in Stockholm, and interested in going? Tickets go on sale Friday morning (at 9am CET).

Finally, a kent community! If you only knew how shamelessly excited this makes me...
I first heard of kent about two and a half years ago, from reading a girl's LJ who I was talking with at the time, whose ex gave her a copy of the English version of Isola, after reading something about them in a magazine. I did a random search on Napster, Celsius came up as being a popular song... so I downloaded it, not knowing that it was in Swedish... listened to it... and fell in love. This sounds so cheesy in a way, but I'll never forget putting on my headphones and hearing that beautiful guitar intro followed by this unique ghastly voice singing, "S? n?ra ligger s?mnen under all t?cken sval..." To this day, Celsius is still one of my all time favorite songs.
Since then... I now have all of their Swedish and English albums, as well as the latest single. And of course... if you listen to that much kent, you're going to start learning some Swedish too. So that's all for now... Jag heter Mark, och Jag ?lska kent!

Kent absolutely cleaned up at the Swedish Grammy awards last night: they won 7, which was a record. They won for:
- Best Artist
- Best Band
- Best Album (Vapen & Ammunition)
- Best Single (Dom Andra)
- Best Composer (J. Berg)
- Best Lyricist (J. Berg)
- Best Producer (Martin von Schmalensee, Zed, and Kent)
They won all seven categories they were nominated for. Supposedly, when Robyn won for Best Female Artist, she said that she was surprised they didn't win that, too.

Well since we're all English-speaking so far, what do you think about Kent releasing albums in English? Personally, I think it's kind of pointless because I'd rather listen to a song the way it was written, instead of listening to an over-dubbed English version just for the sake of understanding the lyrics a little better. The problem is that record companies won't promote a Swedish-language album in English-speaking countries like America and the UK, so a lot of people end up missing out. So should they bother doing an English version of the (semi) new record? Discuss!
PS - Happy Valentine's Day!

So let's um... talk about something!
Where's everyone from, and how did you start listening to Kent? I think that's a good place to start.
