Here's a nice article on the success of Gentoo.
I've been very, very pleased with Gentoo so far. I recommend it highly, even dispite the recent exploit.

I had a goofy daydream while riding home from work a few days: A new game called "Grand Thrift Auto", where you drive a hybrid called the "Outasight" around the "Carlington".
The game would model hybrid fuel consumption accurately, including running out of gas, so trips to the gas station would be needed occasionally
Also traffic would be modeled accurately, so there would be jams morning, noon, and night, along with rubbernecking around accidents, crazy drivers switching lanes every five seconds. The occasional critical mass event. Of course the areodynmics would also need to be modeled, so you can get the benefits of a sweet tailwind.
The missions would revolve around tasks that would make other Carlington residents want to drive hybrids. If you succeed in the game, you'll see more and more of the other cars in the game become hybrids. If you fail, more and more will become SUVs.
Possible missions include:
OK, I have given this way, way too much thought.

(Easton) Protesters inspire white-hot debate
A 12-foot statue of President Bush with his pants on fire attracted a crowd of about 80 people to Centre Square Saturday night.
...
Mike Maurer of Lower Nazareth Township said providing an open forum for debate is important.
"I think we've lost a little bit of that in this country," Maurer said. "I miss the old days of burning in effigy. I think it has impact."

Save Quincy Park, one of the rare remaining bits of green space in the Ballston area, from being the new site of Washington-Lee High School.
I know at least two occasional readers are Washington-Lee alumni. Sorry, but yout old school's got a date with the wrecking ball.
