Time for lists. . . . [24 Nov 2003|02:15pm]
[ mood | bored ]
[ music | tori amos - cornflake girl (reconditioned) ]

I think it's time for another favorites list...

Favorite books right now (in no particular order):

Black White and Jewish by Rebecca Walker
Ceremony in Lone Tree by Wright Morris
Death Kit by Susan Sontag
Three Easy Pieces by Wright Morris
The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck
V. by Thomas Pynchon

I highly recommend Black White and Jewish to anyone who loves honest writing. . . . the kind that isn't filled with metaphors and description.

I highly recomment Ceremony in Lont Tree to anyone who loves deeply descriptive writing. . . . the kind that will describe a fly for page and a half.

Nick called me at 10:15 (fifteen minutes after he was supposed to get to work) and said he wouldn't be able to make it tonight. I told him to call some other people to see if they could cover his shift, but no one could work. So I decided to stay 'til midnight which quickly turned into 1AM. Blah. I'm so sick of Selleck Express. I'm glad it's closing soon.

Then hung out with Dave for a little while.

Now I'm sitting in my room.

I sorta want to go downstairs and write for a while, but I don't know.

Fuck.

[ music | Tori Amos - Murder, He Says ]

Murder, He Says

finally found a fella
almost completely divine
but his vocabulary
is killing this romance of mine
we get into an intimate situation
and then begins this character's conversation

he says, murder, he says
every time we kiss
he says, murder, he says
at a time like this
he says, murder, he says
is that the language of love?

he says, solid, he says
takes me in his arms
and says, solid, he says
meaning all my charms
he says, solid, he says
is that the language of love?

he says, chick chick
you torture me
zoom
are we living?
I'm thinkin' of leaving him flat

he says, dig dig
the jump
the old ticker is giving
he can talk plainer than that

he says, murder, he says
every time we kiss
he says, murder, he says
keep it up like this
and that murder, he says
in that impossible tone
will bring on nobody's murder but his own!

he says, Jackson, he says
and my name's Marie
he says, Jackson, he says
shoot the snoot for me
he says, Jackson, he says
is that the language of love?

he says mmmmmhmm
when he likes my hate
he says tsk tsk tsk
what the heck is that?
he says woo hoo, he says
is that the language of love?

he says, murder, he says
every time we kiss
he says, murder, he says
keep it up like this
and that murder, he says
in that impossible tone
will bring on nobody's murder but his own!

[ music | tori amos - putting the damage on (reconditioned version) ]

Finished reading Black White and Jewish last night around midnight. I was up 'til 5:30 the night before reading it so I could write the 10 page summary that was due today. Got it done, but I don't know if I'm very proud of it. . . . I loved the book so much, but I think I was so pressed for time that I didn't put as much effort into the summary as I would have liked.

Anyway, Rebecca Walker's book Black White and Jewish is sooooooo good. Almost cried several times, laughed many times, was angry. . . . it was just very very affecting. Now it's the weekend and I have nothing I really have to do!

Ate lunch with Roni today after media history class. We watch a video about JFK. Well, she and I slept through it. She was very conspicuously resting her head on my shoulder. She's my fucking hero.

I was listening to Tales of a Librarian... got to Cornflake Girl. HOLY SHIT. I almost flipped out. During one of the bridges she brought some of the backing vocals to the front and it creeped me out.

This is looking to be very fucking cool.

[ music | tori amos - snow cherries from france ]

Played UNO with Dave, Mari, Sean, Brian, Joel, and Ian (the the gay one, the one who lives across the hall from me) out in the 8200 hall tonight. Was fun. Then hung out in Dave's room for a while watching tv. Was boring.

Work at s.ex was boring. But I got to play the new CDs I made with Snow Cherries from France, Angels, Way Down (extended), and Putting the Damage on (instrumental) on them. Yay!

*yawn*

Worked 2-11 at the gap today. Was really fun. Got to work with Brad, Jenny, and TIA! I love working with Brad. . . . And then Tia gave me a ride home and that was awesome. I'm going to miss her so much.

Then watched The Rock in Brian's room. Then sat in the hall with Mari, Sean, Scott, and Drew and talked from about 2:00 'til now.

Woo.

[ music | dido - see you when you're 40 ]

1) My head and back are killing me. I need some caffeine.

2) My advertising project/egg drop went really well. My egg survived and Clint seemed really impressed by my presentation on Hollister Co. So maybe I'll get a good grade on this one.

3) I'm supposed to work in 10 minutes. I do not want to.

4) I found a couple cool books at A Novel Idea today. The Death Kit and Flight of the Eagle. Cool books.

5) And then other stuff happened that made me so extremely happy, but I can't share that. *sigh*

Now I'm mad and depressed.

Shouldn't have spoken to him.

Haven't spoken to him since the day we were supposed to go on a date.

Shouldn't have spoken to him.

Why does every guy who says they want to go on a date with me stand me up?

I don't want to be gay.

I want to go back to the time when I was happy being single and I never had anyone ask me out.

I don't want to be unhappy anymore.

I wish I weren't an asshole and a bitch.

I wish I didn't let my temper get the better of me.

I don't want to be me anymore.
