End of the first week
Posted by Scott
Well, I survived. I'm tired, but I survived. After years easy work weeks, this one was anything but!
Still, it's to be expected, considering this office is growing from 140 to about 180 people on Monday. System configuration needed to be done, offices moved, training areas setup . . . in other words, a lot of work.
Everyone kept telling me all week that it gets better, that this isn't the norm. The three other guys on my team are great and I've been able to fit in pretty quickly, which relieves me to no end. The coming week should start roughly, as the new firm is brought into the fold, but it should get better as each day goes by, and hopefully we'll be back to normal levels next week.
I still love the place, despite the fact that I worked almost twenty more hours this week than I was used to, and can't wait to learn more. I haven't felt that way in a long, long time.

Dieting Update: Week 28
Posted by Scott
Ahh, back on the loss side again, this week. I'm back down to 179 pounds this morning after a less-than-perfect week of eating schedules. The new job has altered my normal schedule for meals, so it's taking some adjustment on my part to keep up with things. I haven't journaled anything in Weight Watchers since Tuesday, for example, as it's just been too busy! Hopefully things will start calming down after next week, once the merger at the firm is completed.
Now, if I can only keep on track again this week, next week should see me at a new record level in my weight loss, as I try to slip under the 178.8 from two weeks ago.
Onward and downward!
[Update: I cheated a touch this week; I normally weigh in with pajama pants and a t-shirt on; when I wasn't happy this AM, I stripped down to get the 179. I was actually 180.0.]

What day is it?
Posted by Scott
I was here at the office until about quarter to one this morning, thanks to office moves we had to coordinate and get done due to a merger with a smaller firm. The guys keep telling me it isn't always this insane, but you know what?
I'm enjoying it. I do well in high-pressure situations, and believe me, this is one of those. It's going to slow down again once the new firm is merged, but until then, it's a lot of work. I got to punch down network runs for the first time in years, and had a ball. Some skill you just never forget, even after a decade. And this isn't even what I'm supposed to be doing on my job, mind you.
So how's everyone else doing? I haven't had time to read blogs all week!

Day One: the real office
Posted by Scott
Well, I survived day one at the new job. My head's still spinning, between this and my trip last week, and there's a ton to learn, but I'm loving it so far.
It's good to be earning a paycheck again.
