Sam returned again-- He was a man possessed; Staggered out under the heavy load Of General Leslie Groves; Oppie was much lighter. "Leave those sons of bitches!" the chorus shouted. President Truman kicked and screamed, And swore at Sam like a drunken sailor. Lastly, Sam shouldered A sacred Piute plinth. But he refused to save Edward Teller. The State threw him in the gulag. Sam shared his ration of black bread And thin soup. "If God exists," he said, Quoting Gustav Herling, "Let him punish Mercilessly those Who break others with hunger."
