good things come to those who wait
cleaning house so intensely for the past week has unearthed some remarkable memories. and due to the sudden inexorable influx of tpm memorabilia, i have updated, of all things... the evil horse fic. yes, virginia, it's true. and now they have names.

five years since i touched that thing, and today it breathed again, and asked very politely for some attention! i am astounded. really as far as new writing it's only about two pages, but it's enough to finish off the second chapter decisively. (it doesn't die in mid-paragraph anymore!) and lord help me if i don't think i know where it's going next. (now if i only had more time!!)

suiko3 fic
finished something up today that's been languishing on the hard drive for some time now. suiko3 fic, something short, about chris and the ladies of alma kinan, and gathering the stars of destiny. (it's not overly yuri, though lord knows i'd love to read such a thing. it even has ayame, for all of .02 seconds.)

in the palm of the hand.

[we had to carry them out on our backs]
so rose has been playing final fantasy ix, and this fic that i've always wanted to write has actually gotten written. *hats off to rose for the re-inspiration*

Vivi: "How about you? What have you been doing since we left the castle?"
Blank: "Me? Let's see... Oh yeah, it's been crazy since you guys escaped!
Rusty, that rat chick, Freya, and... what's her face, that girl general of Alexandria..."
Marcus: "Beatrix."
Blank: "Yeah, the three of them got totally worked! Marcus and I had to carry 'em out on our backs!"
(Final Fantasy IX, disc III, sc. i, lines 36-42)

In the Queen's Company.

evil, seductive meme!
everyone in my house (yes, all two of them) has done this meme, and we sat around this evening (as we sewed dollclothes and listened to david arkenstone and ate leah's chicken and dumplings), and tossed around ideas and thoughts-- about writing, about the process, about the things that die and the things that get recycled, about why we write what we do.

and so i am thoughtful, and post this myself.

If you've ever watched your favorite DVDs, and then found yourself eager to hear exactly what the actors, directors, writers and even production designers thought about making the episode, the movie, or whatever - you'll know sometimes the best parts of DVDs are hearing the commentaries. Getting into an actor's feelings about the character they play, getting the background behind a writer's plans and metaphors, even just getting the stupid anecdotal stuff that makes you laugh, it's all good.

Pick a fic I've written, any fic, or even a short story arc, if you like, and I'll give you the dvd-style "What the hell was I thinking?" commentary thing--though you might want to specify characters, or storyline, or plot. (You can ask more specific questions as well. Or you can not, and just let me ramble on at will.)

...go ahead, ask me about my writing. (as if i needed prompting to talk about it; as if any of us did!) i don't promise to make sense, but i will try at least to be entertaining. watching leah respond to these queries has actually been very enlightening.

and in other news, i have actually procured for myself a billy lee black movic xenogears official keychain. in the words of dante, omg111. and, even better, leah made a volks-style billy lee black doll for me, for christmas. (the billy doll!!) i are a happy, dorky fangirl.

giftfic for [info]luckykitty, set in her wolfboys world: the confrontation between anya and jessica, early on a winter morning. (and many many thanks to liz for letting me play with her characters.)

another winterfic, this one slightly more obscure. xenogears, postgame, a short conversation-based piece, with two characters so minor neither of them made it to disc two. but oddly enough, this is the story so far that it's pleased me the most to write. so i suppose, in that sense, it's fulfilled its holiday function.
