Editorial

Multimedia Producer
MSNBC.com is seeking a multimedia producer for its Secaucus, N.J. office. The position’s primary responsibilities include photo, video and audio editing in a fast-paced daily news environment, with opportunities for longer-term projects and original storytelling.

The candidate must have at least 4 years of newspaper, magazine or internet news experience as a multimedia producer, photo editor or photojournalist. The candidate must have a strong grounding in news ethics and judgment. Previous internet news experience and a degree in journalism are strongly preferred. Mastery of Adobe Photoshop is required, and experience with Flash, audio and non-linear video editing systems are strongly preferred. References should confirm the candidate's strong work ethic, judgment and adaptability.

Interactive Producer
MSNBC on the Internet is seeking an individual to create compelling interactive elements and stories. The successful candidate will develop new user interfaces and story-telling models; collaborate with editorial, media, design and technology teams to produce interactive, multimedia news stories; promote usage of interactive and tools to newsroom team through education and assistance; and report and research interactive stories.

Qualifications include a BA or BS degree, five years relevant internet publishing and editorial experience and a minimum of one year of experience in new media. Candidate must have experience with broadcast, print or wire service news operations, and production in new media; understanding of editorial processes as they relate to interactive, online environment; strong organization, communication and project management skills; thorough understanding of the Web and Web technologies; and proficiency in Web based authorizing languages such as HTML, HTML and JavaScript, and publishing tools such as Flash. The successful candidate is one who excels in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.

MSNBC Internships

All students must provide notarized confirmation from the school stating that course credit is granted to the student. Students should be available at least 16 hours a week.

Note: Internships are available each semester on the East Coast. East Coast internships are not paid; these internships are viewed as learning experiences. There will be reimbursement for reasonable travel expenses. West Coast Internships are paid and are available for 12 weeks June through August.
