Andrew Tarpinian - Light My Moustache On Fire |
] |
Tonight at work was pretty much like a special four-hour General Hospital.
Today's episode: Roger and Barbara are going out, Vince and Alexis are going out, Adriana is new. Adriana skips her second day out of four and gets fired over the phone. Roger (who quit two months ago and was my best comrade on the job) is found to have been cheating on Barbara with Chelsea. Chelsea, working morning, had a confrontation with Barbara, working night, as one clocked in and one clocked out. Barbara reveals that Chelsea had been the one spreading rumors about Alexis. Barbara reveals that she ended her and Roger's relationship the night before on account of new information. Alexis clocks out and sits by the dumpster, consoled by Vince. I find a girly-mag centerfold draped across my windshield.
My life is fascinating.

So dinner was quite enjoyable. We went to Virgil's BBQ in Times Square where I had what Virgil's Pig Out which has on it ribs, beef brisket, chicken, pulled pork, and spicy sausage with your choice of two sides and cornbread. I enjoyed it a lot. I also had dessert. The only bad part of the night was when I lost the ticket to my car at the garage where you get a discount when it's validated. I walked all the way back to the restaurant when I noticed it wasn't in my pocket. Man it was cold real cold. But other than that little mishap, which had me just a bit upset, it's been a good night. Mom also got me a gift: the first 2 volumes of the James Bond DVDs. Along with the third one jeannie_lov76 got for me for Christmas, I'm now in possession of all 20 Bond movies on DVD. I am QUITE happy. Now to watch them all! :-D

Well, I made it back to Jerome in more or less one piece. The truck broke down on the freeway, so I got a tow almost all the way from Flagstaff to my mechanic in Clarkdale (I love AAA Plus coverage). Fortunately, John had gone ahead with a key, and I called my friend Elizabeth in Cottonwood and asked her to shoot up the mountain and tell John and the mover what became of me. Turned out to be a loose wire to the choke and a clogged fuel filter.
The weather is vastly milder here, and the landlord had indeed painted and recarpeted the apartment. The glued-down industrial carpet shows a lot of seams, and the blinds end three inches above the windowsills. I kind of died in the middle of unpacking--part of me wants not to bother since I'll be moving again in a year and a half at most--and I've been spending a lot of time here in the library taking advantage of the T-1 connection. Moving back down to dialup has been a drag, to say the least.
I don't feel at home, though. New York is home. I'll be working on finding a way to get back, as soon as I get in the groove with my case manager at the clinic. Had the intake appointment today, things should start rolling sometime next week.
I feel like I absolutely missed the holidays this year; no great loss. Looking forward to a better 2004.

I have been lurking here for a while and I thought i'd show off some of my art. Most of my stuff is Irish/Celtic themed mixed with wildstyle ( Read more... ) All art done by the Charles Cain at Mark of Cain in Boone, NC.
http://www.markofcain.com/ Pretty interesting tattoo shop. Artist uses no flash and draws each piece free hand.

I will now preform the definate task of gluing the network cable to my laptop.
Yes. Glue. To my Laptop.
Why? Because every two minutes the thing slides out. It is very annoying indeed as this causes me to loose connection and... well. That is reason enough. Plus, I've been dealing with it for about 8 months, and at this point I am just tired of it.
No, I will not superglue it. I will use the woodglue that we have, as it will not hold anything together for a longer period of time anyway. And believe me, I will be happy if the cable does not slide out for at least an hour.
So, please pardon me while I go glue.

I got a digital camera for Xmas, and I've been making use of it.
I got some great shots of the Indie Slam Qualifier Wednesday night, and they're all hiding right behind this nifty LJ cut.
( Enjoy! )
There are more shots of everybody, and I'll send you links if'n you wanna check 'em out. Most of them are damned goofy, and I tried to pick the best ones, but you're welcome to see all the silly-looking ones too. All you gotta do is ask.

Dinner was good. Hot, though... Very hot. (chicken strips, lettuce and the hot-spicy-garilcy-limy-peppery sourcream mix).
I got snacks for D earlier. However, I forgot all about me. Well, they didn't have any Swedish Fishes (bummer) but still.
I did make some guacamole though, so I guess I can enjoy that a little later. Still... I wish I had a little pack of red fishes...

I am so bunchy right now. That's the only thing I can think of to describe it. I am moving very slowly and I will take a hot bath later. I am so glad to be sore I don't know what to do. My body is very happy right now. It's sore, but it's happy. We have all decided to take a day off. Budros has gone about twice a day since he got the damn membership, if only to "work the parts that don't seem to be sore today". Overtraining is a concern. But I'm not his mother.
I went time- and world-traveling during my nap today. It was goddamn WEIRD. But I'll tell ya, that's the most vivid dream I can remember having as of late. I wonder if there's some redheaded kid named Brian out there. Fascinating. That dream was like a movie. I can't wait to write it out. Fantastic.
I am almost done with my Environmental Governance final exam. Yes. That's right. The thing I've been working on for off and on two years now is almost done. Long-term readers who remember what a bane this assignment was to me will be very pleased, I'm sure, if nothing else they never have to hear the term "Environmental Governance final exam" from me again.
( EQ Guild Stuff. )
Aren't I nice? Yep. Hopefully this will help them. I'm sick of this bullshit. I don't pay to deal with it.

I hate it when people who actually know me give me hard advice.
I hate it double when I want to take that advice but it's not so easy.

Please post your recommendations for me for:
1. A movie. 2. A book. 3. A musical artist, song, or album. 4. An LJ user not on my friends list. 5. Something to do in the next two months; something daring or adventuresome.
