I get my meager share of the wealth and I get a target to ridicule, which every human being needs. Everyone needs someone they can point to and say "At least I'm not HIM". Many sociological and psychological studies have been done to prove this point. I do not see the benefit of leaving Omelas. I have tried to imagine a moral conundrum like this one and the only situations I can imagine that would drive me out of the garden of otherwise paradise are things that make large sections of life unpleasant. Religious intolerance for example: I could not stand to live in a strictly Muslim country. I like alcohol and women wearing skimpy or tight clothing too much. I eat food with my left hand and my knees would argue if I chose to knee 7 times a day and pray to Allah. I moved from Boston, a wonderful city with a great deal to offer, because of the horrid winters. So perhaps if Utopia had 10 degree below zero weather, then I would leave. Or if there was a large list, and I do mean a LARGE list, of restricted behaviors I would leave. But for a minor thing like what ever Ethics I can not smother under a blanket of physical pleasure? I cant' imagine it. "
