CAMP BUEHRING, Kuwait (Dec. 8) - Disgruntled U.S. soldiers complained to Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld on Wednesday about the lack of armor for their vehicles and long deployments, drawing a blunt retort from the Pentagon chief.

"You go to war with the Army you have," he said in a rare public airing of rank-and-file concerns among the troops.

In his prepared remarks earlier, Rumsfeld had urged the troops - mostly National Guard and Reserve soldiers - to discount critics of the war in Iraq and to help "win the test of wills" with the insurgents.

Some of soldiers, however, had criticisms of their own - not of the war itself but of how it is being fought.

Army Spc. Thomas Wilson, for example, of the 278th Regimental Combat Team that is comprised mainly of citizen soldiers of the Tennessee Army National Guard, asked Rumsfeld in a question-and-answer session why vehicle armor is still in short supply, nearly two years after the start of the war that ousted Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.

"Why do we soldiers have to dig through local landfills for pieces of scrap metal and compromised ballistic glass to uparmor our vehicles?" Wilson asked. A big cheer arose from the approximately 2,300 soldiers in the cavernous hangar who assembled to see and hear the secretary of defense.

Rumsfeld hesitated and asked Wilson to repeat his question.

"We do not have proper armored vehicles to carry with us north," Wilson said after asking again.

Rumsfeld replied that troops should make the best of the conditions they face and said the Army was pushing manufacturers of vehicle armor to produce it as fast as humanly possible.

it seems like i have never lived where they tour and so last night was my skinny puppy cherry-popping live show...wow , i have to admit i was really impressed
i loved the stage video ..the bush/hitler comparisons were pretty spiffy...
a faux bush and cheney came on stage and were sprayed by the bloodgun..hehe that's two faux bushs bashed on on stage i've seen in a week .. actually every concert i've seen this month has had anti-bush messages..
..yet people will still go vote for that turd tomorrow =(
anyway ..ogre is a dick , like 20 people are standing there getting autographs ..one more person in front of me and the fuckin' dick walks away with a skank ..4 hours round trip drive , 27$ for a ticket once ticket master fucks you with fees , 30$ for a t-shirt thats thin as fuck , gas at 2.19$ a gallon , waiting in line an hour to get in , my sore fucking feet from standing in knee high uk undergrounds all night , and 2 decades of being a fan and he just walks away to be with some ugly chick ...hello there was like 5 more people wanting autographs and he decides to play mr i'm too good for the fans..
i feel like going to another show just so i can thump in the forehead for being a dick

people from virginia recognized me from the neubauten concert in asheville .. never knew i ever stood out enough to be recognized ..a few other people knew me from places as well ..obviously i haven't succeeded in people no longer knowing me or talking to me ...so much work wasted
