May 12th, 2004billions and billions! @ 08:14 pmCurrent Mood: amused Current Music: Smashing Pumpkins, Cherub Rock (live in Utrecht) In roughly 5.5 hours, I turn a billion seconds old. 6 comments | Leave a comment May 9th, 2004saturday stuffses @ 02:42 pmCurrent Mood: eh. Current Music: Harvey Danger, Save It For Later I got more than 4000 spam over the course of Saturday; ugh. In more pleasant news, I went to the Fanime staff meeting; talked about various ConOps things. (I suppose I should tell seshat that I've added her to my friends list; I'm fairly sure that she doesn't know I know she has an LJ. I'm not really a stalker, I'm just drawn that way.) Parked by the lump of poo and got a ticket five minutes after the meter expired. Grrrrr. Had dinner with the ConOps people, that was a lot o' fun. Picked up Kate from the train station, went to the disasterhouse party, saw a bunch of people I knew britgeekgrrl (for whom I forgot to burn the Angel CD), vvvexation (who I finally got to actually talk to, although I got skittish afterwards), angelbob, and bunches of other people I sorta recognize but don't know who they are. The party was rather more boisterous than the last one I'd attended; much louder, more crowded, etc. My biggest complaint would be that they didn't have enough Coke, but I also didn't bring any, either. Had to leave because I wasn't feeling so hot, but Kate kindly made my goodbyes for me. ( Emotional oversharing about parties and whatnot ) Of course, there's entirely too many things going on for the next three or four weeks; it's gonna be hectic (but fun.) May 7th, 2004Kinky Salon pix @ 09:31 pmCurrent Mood: lethargic Current Music: U2, Until the End of the World Some of the photos from the Kinky Salon May Ball have been posted (some of them rather Not Work Safe.) You can find them here; there's even a few of me and kaligrrrl. Urgh, my stupid double chin. I blame my dad. May 4th, 2004a silly quote from chat @ 12:51 amCurrent Mood: amused Current Music: Apollo 440, Don't Fear The Reaper <dr.jd> heh...I'm picturing the Onion man-on-the-street quote section, with moof in a dress and freaky contacts and horns saying "I'm shocked and appalled that anyone would so flagrantly ignore the societal norms." May 3rd, 2004Kinky Salon Ball @ 02:13 amCurrent Mood: hot Current Music: Travis, Why Does It Always Rain On Me kaligrrrl and I went to the Kinky Salon May Ball; it was fun, but the previous one was better. People were pretty immaculately attired for the most part, and quite friendly - but there were too damn many people for the space, with precious few places to sit down and chatter away with folks. Adrian's mash-up set was pretty damn nifty, and it was quite nice to see people I don't get to visit often. (Ken, Heather, Heather, Almus, Dana, Nicole, Mike). I don't think their shilling for SuperStar Avatar went quite so well; the "you must do it!" exhortation at the door wasn't too fabulous. I'm quite probably gonna go to the next one, but will almost certainly wear more comfortable shoes; my boots sure weren't made for walkin. Ow. Pictures of me 'n' Kate should be up on the usual suspects' KS websites soon, but in the meantime, here's one that doesn't make me wince when I look at it. May 1st, 2004random boring crap @ 04:01 pmCurrent Mood: off-kilter Current Music: Nirvana, Smells Like Teen Spirit This is about the sixth weekened in a row where I've gone to bed on Friday feeling kinda shitty, fallen asleep, and awakened more than twelve hours later. Methinx I need to sleep more during the week, perhaps. On Wednesday I got to have lunch with the lovely and talented aceofkittens; I think we spent the better part of two hours gabbing and spitting at each other. I pick up kaligrrrl from the train station in about 40 minutes, and then we're going to hit Kinky Salon this evening. (The afternoon promises to be filled with lots of worrying about what I'm going to wear; I get ultra-stressed out about what to wear, is it good enough, ad nauseum.) April 26th, 2004a nifty article. @ 02:39 am
http://www.edge.org/documents/archive/ed You have to scroll down a bunch to get to the actual article, but it's well worth reading; nifty stuff on the Easter Islanders, etc. I have to be up for work in ~6.5 hours. Aiee. To bed with me. April 24th, 2004dad. @ 09:07 pmCurrent Mood: uncomfortable Last night I dreamt (in part) that I was at the doctor's office, and they told me that my heart valves were being damaged from the medication I was taking. This morning, my mom called to say that my dad had gotten angioplasty yesterday and a stent put in; he's apparently doing well, and should be home on Monday. Dad was playing golf when he started getting chest pains, at the first hole - and they got worse as he was playing - but he finished all nine holes before going home and thence to the ER. Guh. That's so typical of my dad. The dream bit is sorta creepy, though. April 22nd, 2004perhaps why I like cheese so much @ 10:47 pmCurrent Music: not-hiccuping I feel like crap, but at least this is sorta amusing:
moof or amélie? April 19th, 2004(no subject) @ 12:01 amCurrent Mood: out of it Current Music: Underworld, Rez My DSL is now only working for the first time in about four or five days. Ugh. I'm sorta braindead and am gonna go to bed soon, but I figured I should post this first: kaligrrrl: Want some water? moof: Sure. kaligrrrl: See? I'm nice, the kind of girl who'll give you the last sip of water... kaligrrrl: after I COME IN IT! moof: Awww! It's just like drinking the wet spot! Perhaps you had to be there. April 12th, 2004the weekend @ 01:48 amCurrent Mood: placid Current Music: Stevie Ray Vaughan, Tightrope Went to bed at 1:15am, woke up at 2:15pm. Oops, Fanime staff meeting was at 2 and I forgot to turn on the alarm clock; I scrambled to throw on clothes, went over to the Fanime conops staff meeting and had incredibly tasty Thai food afterwards. They seem like a fun group. Afterwards, I picked up kaligrrrl from the train station, and eventually we headed over to angelbob's place for a Disaster House party. Quite fun! I rather enjoyed myself, despite being punchy as hell and babbling my head off after a while. Met quite a bunch of neato people whose names utterly escape me (except for britgeekgrrl's, for some reason). Today, snuggled a bunch with Kate, and watched South Park, "The Passion of the Jew" (Kate was rolling around with laughter) and episode two of the Live Action Sailor Moon. Oh my god, what delightful cheeze. There's a bunch of other crap I was going to write about, but I can't remember what it was, I'm rapidly becoming massively incoherent, and I have to be at work in 6.5 hours. Woo! (Except this is a different type of woo!.) April 10th, 2004(no subject) @ 12:52 amCurrent Mood: moping It's almost 1am on a friday night, I don't wanna go to sleep, I feel like ass. Why does this never happen Sunday-Thursday? April 7th, 2004(no subject) @ 01:14 amCurrent Mood: nerdy To read all of my friends list, I had to go up to skip=300. Sweet jebus! Also, in case there wasn't any doubt that I'm a nerdling: Sunday, I slept from 4:30AM to 7:30PM; in one of the dreams I had, a girl on the "bad" wizard's side gave me a charm in the shape of a rubik's cube and told me to give it to my girlfriend; I took one look at it, laughed, and said "With the pattern of colors and missing cubelets, it's obvious that the parity is wrong, and it could never be unscrambled to the perfect state! This is a bad luck charm, why would I want that?" I think she may have been trying to flirt with me, but I was oblivious to it if she was. April 3rd, 2004more whinging @ 02:33 amCurrent Mood: fragile It's very late on Friday evening, and I'm tired but don't want to go to bed, listless but uninspired to do anything, and lonely but without the energy to be social. I have no idea why I'm like this; I was fine earlier today, the sun was shining, I had lunch with jenicided, but around 7 or 8 my mood started to go downhill and it never recovered. Eating dinner helped, but I still pretty much remained blah; I even got some of the shivery-panic feelings. I really don't know what to do when this happens, because it doesn't feel like I have enough psychic energy to do anything, save maybe posting desultory bemoanings of my terribly earth-shaking woes. I guess I should just go to bed. April 2nd, 2004(no subject) @ 12:04 amCurrent Mood: shoulder-tensy Current Music: a very very small violin Corn Nuts are the world's most unsatisfying snack. Also, I was gonna go to bed before midnight, but I didn't. APRIL FOOL! March 25th, 2004(no subject) @ 05:19 pmCurrent Mood: confused Current Music: Sinead O'Connor, Mandinka I went to Office Depot today to get some uni-ball vision elite pens - my favorite pen I've found so far. Waterproof, smearproof, etc. Anyway, one of the computers had a screensaver that had in twirling 3D letters, "Bush in 2004!" I guess my impression was wrong - Bush really is the champion of the minimum wage worker. And on an utterly random note: What's the Plural of 'Virus'?" March 23rd, 2004fluff. @ 12:29 amCurrent Mood: punchy Current Music: In-grid, Tu Es Foutu I have to be up in 7.5 hours or so. Wah! I will demonstrate my woe for such with a small interpretive dance - or failing that, a cheezy little quiz result:
quiz by midgetfarm.com March 14th, 2004that's where I'm a viking! @ 02:05 amCurrent Mood: contemplative Current Music: the Thump Radio mp3 stream Well, I made it to neither the fanime staff meeting nor the ratpoisonvalē; instead, I ended up sleeping about fourteen hours and had an incredibly long series of dreams; the gist of them was that I had to choose which of two groups I was going to belong to in a secret universe that was only accessible through the back wall of my parents' garage that only these weird spectral cars could drive through. I asked the person at the registration desk what the groups were, how was I supposed to choose? Her answer was to offer me a plate with two kinds of pastries on it: chocolate brownies or baklava-like things. I chose the baklava (I'm a sucker for baklava), and that corresponded to the Change/Chaos group; had I chosen the brownies, I'd have been part of the Order/Static group. It was odd, because earlier in the dream I had been hanging out with the Order people; they were a little stuck up, but were mostly pretty cool, had great clothes, and I played video games with them for a few hours. The Change people were a little duller, but were much more down-to-earth. I realized that when I was lumped with them that my actual goal was to be on the interface between the two where they met up and all the interesting stuff happened, the dynamism between order and chaos. (No Amberites showed up.) It was a damn nifty set of dreams; I only wish I could have had them at some time when I wouldn't miss out on the awake things. And to go off on an almost utter tangent, here's something I wrote the other day when I was waiting three hours for Costco to put new tires on my car. ( a probably overwrought description of what it feels like when I get upset. ) March 13th, 2004food. @ 01:08 amCurrent Mood: icecreamified Current Music: Veruca Salt, Seether I was eating dinner at On the Border, gratifying a modicum of my texmex craving, when all of a sudden I got a whiff of a horrible chemical stench. It took me a few seconds to realize that it was somebody's perfume. I hoped it would go away, that it was just somebody walking by... but no. It was the woman sitting behind me, and I got a fresh whiff every time she shifted around in her seat. I was getting kinda nauseous, so I had to doggie bag nearly everything and take it home. That sucked a lot. (What was sorta gratifying/slightly nonplussing was that one of the waitresses there looked at me, saw my hair, and said 'Oh, you're purple now!'; I didn't recognize her, but she sure seemed to know who I was.) Oh well, at least this Double Rainbow half-and-half White Pistachio and Chocolate ice cream is really quite tasty. Tomorrow I make queso to bring to the Fanime staff meeting. March 11th, 2004bunches of random crap @ 11:27 pmCurrent Mood: awake Current Music: some bizarre psytrance mix My father is fond of sending me office-humor sorts of things (about 10-20% of which involve some religious theme); today he sent me this wonderful missive on gay marriage. There's a slight cultural divide between him and me; my mom is also on the other side of that gap, as is probably my (lawyer) brother. I've been meaning to post this link for quite some time, but have never gotten around to it: The Uncanny Valley. In short, it's the 'almost familiar' that's the creepiest. (This neatly explains why I come off as such an exceptional weirdo some of the time - my responses are off juuuust enough.) Gah, what else? I can think of a million things to say when I'm not posting, but they all dry up as soon as I start typing. Um, I like cheese? Women with blue hair, periwinkle eyes (that don't blink) and a vaguely fetishy outfit look really amazingly good? The history of shaving your pubes? I've been told I resemble a marshmallow peep? Oh well, I'm sure in an hour, when I'm tucked in bed, I'll remember it all. |
