Visited States
Visited States is a copy of Visited Countries, but here you select the states of the US instead of the countries of the world and it draws a map where you've been and where not. Also nice as a general mapping tool if you need a graph wich state will vote democrat or something.
Visited Countries contains a paintable map of the world.
select in the table below the countries you have been to and click go.
Expand it! :)

I think it'd be fun to make this a North American map, with Canadian provinces and Mexican states tacked on too. :)
erratum
by somebodyelse
it says that I've visited 27 countries... you might want to change that to states.

You forgot DC. DC isn't a state, true, but that's like leaving a hole in the map.
This is great!
by John
Washington DC is between Maryland and Virginia, not Delaware and New Jersey! Thanks for a very fun concept!
Puerto Rico
by Marcela
What about Puerto Rico? I am not sure if that counts any more than other "possessions," but it does seem to be the place that has most commonly been proposed as a state...
California
by Jessica
You forgot CA. :)
Michigan vs. Minnesota
by Michael
The little tip of Michigan's Upper Peninsula (the Keweenaw Peninsula) and Isle Royale are part of Michigan, not Minnesota. The line dividing the Keweenaw from the rest of the Upper Peninsula is a canal. Otherwise, good show.
Great Job!
by Lisa
but NC isnt showing as visited when I clicked it :(
Canada, Eh
by Psyche
Next, do one for Canadian provinces and territories. C'mon. You know you wanna.
Spelling
by Lynn
It's "Massachusetts," not "Massachusetes."

How long do you suppose it will be before a "planets visited in our solar system" will be an interesting tracking project?
Massachusetts
by Tom
Massachusetts is still spelled wrong. But I still love it...
Countries? States?
by Kelsi
It says I've visited 8 countries? States you mean?
D.C. is in the wrong place
by Eddie
Looks like you put Washington D.C. in the wrong place. Your map shows it between Delaware and New Jersey. D.C. Is in Maryland. Well, between Maryland and Virginia, actually. Here's a map I googled that shows were D.C. really is: http://www.thecitiesof.com/virginia/
Multiple colors/categories
by Colz Grigor
I know this would be slightly more challenging to design, but I would like to designate states that I have merely passed through in a different color than ones I've intentionally visited. What's more, I'd like to color states I've lived in differently from ones I've only visited. Are you up to the challenge?

it doesnt seem to be working correctly, as I'm not getting any image at all.
Puerto Rico
by vivorodz
Though this is more work, Puerto Rico should definitely be included - it's a commonwealth and they have representaion in the House of Rep. That and That is where I'm from - it'd be nice to be able to include.
Well, you've gone and done it...It's broken now!
by Ash
Redundancy at it's finest here, but the image is broken. Maybe *I* broke it with as many states as I've been to. Overload! LOL Neat little thing ya have here.
mexico
by kris
you should add mexico because...i dont know, you just should.
DC is in the wrong place
by dawgdays
DC isn't between NJ and DE, it's between MD and VA.

Cute little gadget. I figure that I can make up most of the rest of the states this summer.
Pay Attention
by Tracy
Okay, people-- California is listed and DC IS in the correct place. The alphabet goes across, from left to right. I know we all want it to start from the top and go down, but that's the way it is.
Our Nation's Capital
by Anonymous
DC may be in the right place alphabetically, but it's in the wrong place on the map. It shows up on mine as southern New Jersey. Maybe we should move the capital to Newark :P
percent?
by jay
um wouldn't twenty of fifty states be forty percent? or did i just not visit the right twenty states?

Very Cool!
by Dar
Thanks for the cool toy!
neat
by pueo
Neat toy but I think people are somewhat confused when they comment on the # of states v. %of states visited. What they probably don't take into account is that 1) DC is not considered a state and 2) the "number of states visited" is counting all the states PLUS DC whereas the %of states covered isn't taking that into account

You should add Puerto Rico ;)
michigan
by ram434
The keewenaw penisula (northwestern peninsula off or the upper peninsula) does not get colored when selected. Also, isle royale (island north of michigan, east of wisconsin) does not get colored red.
DC & the territories
by Fernando
It's cool that you've added DC, but it's showing up as the southern tip of New Jersey, across from Delaware. Is that supposed to happen?
I second (or third, or whatnot) the request for adding the U.S. territories, including the commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

so all of a sudden, my map says that i've been to texas and oklahoma. that's weird, since i haven't.
Fabulous!
by William
I love stuff like this! Well done!
Percentages
by Everetta
I think it would be neat if you changed the percentages to reflect how much land area you've covered. Like TX takes up so much % of the land area of the US, + DC takes up so much percent, instead of the % of states you've visited.
Cool site! I enjoyed.

NH does not equal RI
by Pete
I have been to Rhode Island but not New Hampshire, and the map highlights New Hampshire and not Rhode Island. Is this a problem with the code?
NICE..can we fix the link
by Melinda
I liked the map and I wanted to post it, but the html code at the bottom isn't working...any suggestions?

Great Lakes?
by Caleb
It's nice that you include large bodies of water on the map in addition to land, but it rather confused me to not see Lake Erie nor Lake Ontario.
