| Bio: | I'm a polytheistic polymath, trying to draw a map of the Road Less Traveled. On January 1, 2003, I became engaged to ![[info]](http://library.vu.edu.pk/cgi-bin/nph-proxy.cgi/000100A/http/web.archive.org/web/20041012031130im_/http:/=2fstat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) riverheart; our courtship was a whirlwind of delight, and we must have known each other in many prior lives— how else could we have become so close so quickly? We handfasted in August, 2003, and married on January 31, 2004.
I read almost incessantly— "hard" science, mystery and adventure, and science-fiction comprise the bulk of my library, but on my shelves you'll find almost everything from Gibran to Galbraith, or Hawkings to Hawthorne (no, those are NOT two volumes of an encyclopedia!); recently I've discovered the transcendently mystical novels of Alice Hoffman, whom I read when I've earned a special treat.
I was unemployed from August 2001 to September 2004, which was highly demoralizing. My previous career was primarily programming mainframe computers, with a couple of forays into technical product planning and management. I've also earned an MBA degree, so I can see how badly managed most companies are. For about fifteen months I attended South Seattle Community College under the auspices of a worker retraining grant, to learn to be a Network Administrator. I finished all of the curriculum except for the internship, with a 3.97 cumulative GPA. I also sat for the CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certificate examination, which I passed on March 25, 2004. Yay, me.
Finally, thanks to the assistance of my shieldbrother, technoshaman, I started work at PogoLinux, a maker of Linux-based server and workstation systems, as the lead technician for software load and checkout. My team (which I'll help recruit) will be the final step in product build and validation. No system will go out the door until we sign off.
