Nasty Spiral

This is worrying.

If outsourcing to india was the tech industry circling the bowl, I think the fact that students are shunning computer studies means it's about to be flushed.

Way to go, corporate America. Nice job of looking at the big picture.

Say "Cheese", Motherfucker

Ggrrrr ...

This plonker wants a photo assistant with a BA, loads of experience, graphic design ability (a separate job, asshole) and "strong organizational skills for ... wait for it ... $11 (we're assuming that's not a flat rate, but shit, you never know these days).

Bollocks to that.

P.S.: It's Assistance, you reject. Stupid people need to remember to use a dictionary.

Forums are Open!

OK folks, I finally got it together and launched the forums. Thanks to everyone who voted on the poll and admin@greysphere for the nudge.

There's just one general forum for now, we can expand later if we need to. There's a link at the left to get there in the future. It's set up now so you can read as a guest, but need to register to post. That way everyone is able to edit and delete their own posts. I'm hoping it'll also keep spam to a minimum. phpBB has tons of cool features like private messaging and custom avatars that I can turn on if anyone wants them. Reasonable? Discuss ;)

PS - Using the forum, you can all make your own polls now, too.

The Wrong Stuff Pt. III

Man, it seems like people are trying to stick it to writers with about the same frequency as designers these days! This one is a doozy by any standards. Thanks to EF for the great listing.

WTF?!?!?!?

More designer abuse ...

Oooohhh, these always annoy. Not content with a flagrant abuse of the intern system ("Candidate must be well versed in the art of Flash design, HTML, DHTML, and all the other technical stuff that makes my head hurt. Strong design and production skills a plus") - this numbnuts throws in a generous helping of flippancy and sarcasm ("lucky candidate", "you never know - you might get paid") that guarantees a spot here.

Asshole.

Whole company of interns needed!

David found this one on Monster, and it really takes the cake. The fucking asshats want an affiliate specialist (sales monkey), search engine analyst, and a graphic designer with "real world website design" experience FOR FREE.

Thisis the clearest abuse of the intern concept we've seen in a good while. Note to employers: "INTERNS ARE NOT THE SAME AS SLAVES". ok?

$1.05 a drawing? FTJ!

Another flaggable gem from craig's list. I especially hate when they think we're stupid enough to drool over little carrots like: "Feature Length Film script is finished and would be a much hire paying job". Really? Wow, that sounds really cool. I'll be happy to be abused now the the 1 in a billion shot that you'll give me another shitty job on another shitty project in the future. Asshole.

Hopefully it's just a typo.

Sorry, but I don't believe that this person does hate to sound cheap.

And I love that you're expected to make an offer under $10 an hour, but you're then warned that you will be haggled down from that. What a sleaze. Oh wait, it's a porn company. Imagine that.

That said, I almost want to apply just to find out what "mature multi sexual explicit materials" are.

Hate to sound cheap but the job is easy. You just sit and type info into a worksheet. If you are an executive secretary or really really really experienced looking for $15 to $20 an hour this is NOT for you.

Where oh where can our techies be?

Let'er rip people.

US tech firms seek more H1-B visas
Vasantha Arora (IANS)
Washington, March 9

A leading California-based high tech company is pleading for more H1-B
visas, of which Indians are a major beneficiary, saying enough skilled
workers are not to be found in the US.

For Rockwell Scientific Co., hiring the best talent is a matter of
corporate survival.

This is justification enough for increasing the number of H1-B visas, it
says, because it simply cannot find enough professionals in the US with
specialised skills to produce the sophisticated sensors and other
high-technology products it makes.

Oxy, moron.

Oh this is priceless.

"Ability to draw a must. Imagination, ambition, drive and vision highly prized and possibly handsomely rewarded." Err, I think that might be some new definition of hansomely rewarded" that I'm presently unfamiliar with. How on earth are they going to find an artist with ambition, who will do this work for $10 an image? These things are mutually exclusive, you fucking fucktards.

Quick quiz: what's a four letter word describing a piece of cloth representing a country. Flys from a pole, begins with "F", and ends in "LAG".

Part Time Position Starting March 1

This is an entry level position for someone who wants to learn and not have pizza delivery on their resume.
