My debate policy: Free speech is not free if I have to pay for it. This journal costs me $35 per year to maintain in the style it's accustomed to. That's not actually a lot or anything, but it's still money. I don't mind debates, though there are certain topics I prefer that you not debate in my journal (such as abortion, mostly) because you'll get a response that comes from my heart and guts and experience, not my head, and while I may be able to see the other side intellectually, my viscera take over, and I can be more unpleasant and strident than I'd like to be. I also expect debaters in my journal to be polite. The second I think the line has been crossed, I won't hesitate to freeze or delete a thread that's out of hand. This is not censorship. You can still say whatever you want in your own journal.

My friending policy: I used to automatically friend everyone that friended me back; then we got serial adders, so I have to check everyone out now. If your journal's mostly quizzes and randomness, I probably won't add you back. As my friendslist is getting huge, thanks to QuickQuote and the Daily Snitch, I'm having to be more selective; I was recently gone for four days and my friendslist was at skip=980 when I got home. I hate that, but I have to do my job, find time to write, and somehow have a LiFe. I do use filters, because there are a lot of people on my list that I really don't feel I know very well. If you really want to know about my medication, my cramps, and my boss issues, let me know, and if we're close, and you haven't been added, I'll add you. If reading your journal on a regular basis pisses me off, I'll defriend you. It's not personal, and I've only had to do it four times, but each and every time I did it, it was for the sake of my blood pressure, not out of malice.

One last thing. If you like my journal, please use it get to know me here before you start sending me private email--especially regarding personal topics. Don't ask to be added to my Highly Personal filter. If and when I decide I trust you enough to put you on it, I will. Don't email me your telephone number unless we've actually had a serious exchange of ideas somewhere online. And even though I'm single, don't hit on me.

I am 'a well of decadence, perversion and smug' in fiction. In real life, the words 'strait-laced' and 'old-fashioned' would not actually be very far from the truth, and my belief that you should be able to do whatever you want sexually, provided all parties consent, does not constitute consent or even interest in doing it with you.
