GetContentSize

Enter a Web page's URL, and we'll give you three things:

  1. The size of the page, in bytes (just the HTML page -- no images, associated JavaScript or CSS files)
  2. The size of the page's "text content" (What does that mean?)
  3. The percentage of the page's weight devoted to text content (#1 / #2)

(This may take a while. It's only as fast as the site you choose.)

Addendum, Sept. 22, 2003: These statistics are good fodder for conversation, and they make you think a bit, but otherwise they're trivia at best. I originally wrote this tool in about 10 minutes to prove a point, but I left it online because people seemed to like it. Please use this tool with that in mind.
