Theory of the Page
I have collected these quotations randomly over the years, and now lay them out
the same way. From time to time I will add new ones to the end of the Portable
Document Format (PDF) to which this page links. If you have any suggested additions,
send them along.
PDF files can only be viewed by use of Acrobat Reader. Most computers have
this software installed nowadays. And all of them should, for it offers the only
efficient way to view pages of text exactly as the publisher intended.
In these pages I have used a typeface called Bembo, a modern version of a
type first cut by the Venetian Francesco Griffo in 1497. Bembo is not
installed on most machines, but Acrobat Reader will allow you to view it
anyway. The software is free, and you may
download it here. (Do not confuse Acrobat Reader with Adobe
Acrobat, which is not free.)
Now go to
the quotations.
