William L.R. Cruce <wlrc@uhura.neoucom.edu> comments on the newsgroup alt.video.laserdiscs: "There are several apect ratio changes in this transfer. The opening and closing credits are windowboxed at about 1.51:1. The main film is letterboxed at about 1.47:1 and the newspaper is letterboxed at about 1.73:1. This is all probably due to Mr. Kubrick's dislike of standard letterboxing and desire to present different images in the aspect ratio he likes best." |
