Date: 25 October 2001 Summary: Kirk Douglas is Spartacus
The definitive Kirk Douglas. No one else could have played the role more
finer, or suited the role more clearer. Kirk Douglas built his reputation up
in the 50's by portraying hard man roles with angst, and culminated all of
that in this film where he would need angst to get him out of
slavery.
Tony Curtis renews his alliance with Douglas by playing a supporting role
with Laurence Olivier. But without a question of a doubt, it is a Kirk
Douglas film, and belongs in the Kirk Douglas canon.
