Using a catapult, a walking dinosaur, a hovercraft and a propeller-driven car, about 140 Irondale High School students will demonstrate their understanding of physics at the school's first Physics Fair, which is open to public viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Students add a fifth component to their projects with the aim of causing a chain reaction, according to Irondale science teacher Shane Wood. Professional engineers will judge the projects. Young inventors create solutions
No one has a better grasp of building a better pooper-scooper than the kid who walks the dog. More than 101 kindergartners through ninth-graders showed off their solutions for washing cats, playing golf with arthritis and quickly wrapping presents on Saturday at the annual Young Inventors Fair at St. Paul's Landmark Center.

The controversial former principal of Eagan High School wants her job back. Jane Stewart filed suit in federal court this week, claiming the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan school district discriminated against her when it transferred her to the district office after less than four months on the job.
