What do landscaping, calculus, and Beethoven have in common? My head.
They're just specifics of the general categories, nature, math, and music. And you can't say those don't have any connection.
While I think math is beautiful, I don't think so purely because it's math. I think it's beautiful for the relationships it has in nature and music.
Nature is music for all the senses.
Music is math for the ears.
Math is just another way of playing the music of nature. |

From a scene in the movie... I had an idea. Maybe that's what it was in the movie, I don't know.
She was putting a piece of paper on a tree that had a lot of pieces of paper on it. Anyone know what that was?
Ahhh, I shouldn't try to explain my idea, I should just do it. Nike! |

Morals? Yeah. |
[Jun. 6th, 2004|06:40 pm] |
Recently, I think, someone asked me if/how my moral belief systems were affected by my religious upbringing.
If you see religion as nothing more than stories deisgned to teach right from wrong, then it's not a religion, so I really don't see the connection.
Saturday I was talking to my parents about my situation at work. He asked me why *I* couldn't just let it go. I had been thinking other people wouldn't let it go. He's right.
I can't let it go because I think I'm doing right, and the rest of the world doesn't understand why. I don't think I should be compensated for making mistakes. It's quite simple, in my mind. Maybe I'm not explaining the situation clearly enough, and that's why people are confused as to why I'd do work without being paid.
How are my morals? You tell me. |

What Color is Your Brain? brought to you by Quizilla
At work or in school: I work best by myself. I like to focus on my ideas until my desire for understanding is satisfied. I am easily bored if the subject holds no interest to me. Sometimes, it is hard for me to set priorities because so many things are of interest. With friends: I may seem reserved. Although my thoughts and feelings run deep, I am uneasy with frequent displays of emotion. I enjoy people who are interesting and of high integrity. With family: I am probably seen as a loner because I like a lot of private time to think. Sometimes, I find family activities boring and have difficulty following family rules that don't make sense to me. I show love by spending time with my family and sharing ideas and interests. |

With all the bad that's been going on, today reminded me something important.
I am willing to accept responsibility for my mistakes.
I feel somewhat unique in this world because of that.
(I'm sure some of you would might disagree. If I don't know or feel that I made a mistake, I can't take responsibility for it, can I?) |

ugh. 9pm, still haven't taken a shower yet.
I haven't even taken my shoes off. I just spent 40 minutes getting chewed out by my boss over the phone.
<angst>Goodnight, cruel world :P</angst>
In somewhat related news, I *thought* traffic would be lighter coming home today, since I was coming home at say 7, instead of 5 or 6.
HA!! I was *so* wrong.
Still, the concept of road rage still mystifies me. I must be a rare person to not get frustrated by traffic. Maybe I'd fit in the über-relaxed California lifestyle better than I thought I would.
Tomorrow's looking to be a *long* day. Shitfuck. And it's because of my mistake, so there's no chance in hell I could leave early :/ |

I fucked up.
Therefore I worked 6.5 hours today that I won't get paid for.
Not only that, but as a result, I fucked up everyone's work schedule for next week.
Shit.
Oh, and it's 8pm, and I just got home. Bleh.
I wonder if I'll even *make* it to Harry Potter tomorrow. :/ |

Lastnight was both stressful and fun.
Internet access was out from yesterday morning around 5am, to this morning around 2:30am (I think...).
Too many LJ posts to catch up with them all.
Gotta run now for work. |

| | Radiohead - A Wolf at the Door. (It Girl. Rag Doll.) | ] | Oh yeah, my day.
With only 3.5 hours of sleep under my belt, I tripped off to the MFA, for the free day. Impressions: It seemed less like an art museum and more like a history museum. I suppose it's an art history museum, not specialising in one specific type. I liked the Greek/Roman, Egyptian, and Colonial American areas the best.
I specifically couldn't find Kas' spiders. I'm sure I missed a bit of the museum, so I'll have to go back some time.
I wasn't there for very long, either. 2 hours? At the most. It was just too damn crowded for anyone to take their time and appreciate much. That, and I just wasn't in the mood.
Headed over to Fenway AMC and saw Day After Tomorrow. Liked it. Liked sitting between a half-dozen really cute girls, too.
The stupid ticket machine got impatient and wouldn't wait until friday to give me this, though:
Here's the most interesting part of the whole day, though. While waiting for the movie, I visited the art store nextdoor. And picked up. Some. Mosaic tiles.
I've always wanted to try it. Grabbed simple black and white to start with. Geometric shapes to play around with. *Maybe* I'll graduate in a few years to something artistic :P |

[May. 31st, 2004|10:27 am] |
I keep forgetting... Saturday marked an important event in the history of an Aaron.
I honked at someone. I never honk at anyone. Even if they do something stupid and dangerous, I'm usually too concerned with NOT DYING than I am at getting pissed and honking.
Yeah, well, after I managed to swerve back off the rumble strips, I gave the horn a little tap.
I still can't figure out why people get so stressed out driving, though. It's like... not stressful for me at all.
Off to the MFA I go. I hope. |

My poor plants :( |
[May. 31st, 2004|03:28 am] |
I should know better. I do landscaping for work. I just don't want to think about it when I get home.
My ivy is almost dead. My tree hasn't been doing so well. I haven't been deadheading my flower.
As for the tree, it's my fault for not potting it myself. They put too much dirt on top. Important rule: The collar around the base of the tree (or most woody plants, for that matter) needs to be above ground level! Some younger plants can deal with it, and adapt, but for the most part, this rule is LAW. A sure way to get fired in my line of work.
Since I've two ivys, I'm doing an experiment. I've removed most of the seemingly dead leaves/vines off of one, and left the other intact. Moved them into my "closet" where they'll get better sunlight.
Many people assume a plant is dead because the leaves have dried up. Often times this is far from the truth. All you need is a little care and some patience, and it'll come back before your very eyes.
This past winter was harsh for a lot of plants. Many rhododendrons appear to have died. But upon closer inspection, either from the ground, or from anywhere on the main branches, new buds are appearing.
The basic rule is that if the plant hasn't dropped the "dead" leaves, then they're not really dead.
This has been your landscaping lesson for the day. |

Einstein will have to wait another week |
[May. 30th, 2004|06:55 pm] |
Wow. A great spontaneous day.
And I didn't really do the MoS after all.
Well, I sort of did.
Also, it turns out Lechemere is about 100 paces closer than Kendall.
( The biggest risk is not taking one. )
The few pictures I took are 'ere. Half of them are of the locks. I like the first one the best. Nature's taking over something we put in its way.
OMG, I love Rachel Ray. She's so cute, too! And she's using garlic kielbasa right now. *drool* She's all about the garlic and EVOO :D
And god do I love her kitchen. |

Call Max now! |

| | The Doug Anthony Allstars - Sweetness and Light: Funk You | ] | I gots me a new cell phone today.
Coincidentally, Elmo happened to be waving a sign on Somerville Ave as I was driving by. Elmo was working for a Verizon store.
And Verizon.com said there wasn't one there!
Just goes to show you can't trust the internet to tell you where the Elmos are. If you want to kill them all, you'll have to go out on foot.
Anyway, I signed up for a contract instead of getting the prepaid deal, this time. It's much cheaper. I'm spending at least $60/month on the prepaid plan anyway, so for $60, I've got a much better deal. Will stay with it until I know how many minutes I'm actually using. The rep said I could change plans without any trouble.
I asked for the most physically durable phone, which turns out to be the phone 2 of the 3 reps there had themselves: the Motorola v60s.
So far, I've copied over most of the phone numbers, and played around a little with it, but not much.
Also changed the voicemail message on my old phone, so you'll know what my new number is if you forget and call that one. Heh. I don't care for number portability.
Oh, right. The new number, for those of you who care, is 617-947-3629, or 617-WISE-MAX.
Now if only I know who this Max person is, and why the hell he's in my phone!
Oh wait. Max! My puppy! Awww, he's in my phone :) |

[May. 28th, 2004|07:37 pm] |
ok, my phone is officially fucked.
thak goodness my roomate knows that i can check my voicemail from another phone :)
Hmm. I used about 50 minutes this week, and it seemed like a light week. Of course, I used 45 minutes in one night, just talking to John, but was that nighttime hours? Bleh.
Not sure whether to get a *real* cellphone contract, or stick with the prepaid deal. Prepaid gives the flexibility, but I'm assuming $0.33/minute is high?
Either way, I'm fairly sure I could write it off as being for business, as I hardly use it for anything else.
*goes off to research cell phone plan prices*
no wait
*goes off to take a shower and find food*
there's plans of movies tonight! |

[May. 28th, 2004|02:18 pm] |
It's so weird to be home this early. Well, it's not that early anymore. An hour ago, it was.
It's time for me to get a new cellphone. The one I have now shuts off with just the littlest tap. I thought it was the battery contacts, but it seems like it's internal. And now, the damn thing thinks I have a headset plugged in half the time, which renders it pretty much useless.
Eh, what do you expect from 2.5 year old free phone?
I notice nowadays phones are "hipper" and have more gizmos. As much of a geek as I am, I really don't care about them. I'll still entertain suggestions for phone models and service, though ;) |
