Buffalo + shopping = need more money [ 03 May 2004 | 08:57pm]
[ music | Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Maps ]

Yesterday I was in Buffalo to do some shopping at Abercrombie & Fitch and also to go to a casino.

This was actually the first time I went gambling (and by "gambling", I mean I basically GAVE all my money to the casino cause I suck at gambling) at this casino called "Seneca Niagara Casino" and first time I went to a casino (and played the slots) legally. Last time I went, I wasn't quite 21 yet but still managed to not get thrown out by security. This time, although I am legitly 21 years old, I got carded a few times. One time, a security guard chased (well, speed walked) after me to ask me for my ID and then a second time this other security dude asked for my ID, my drivers license, to which he scrutinized visually and later, with some machine, to swipe the card to make sure it was legit. I must really really not look my age =\

I also took a few pics with my digicam, although cameras aren't allowed inside, but oh well.

Here are some of those pics. )

The buffet in the casino also rocked. I tried to eat my weight in pasta and crab...yeah, not such a good idea.

Afterwards we went shopping at Walden Galleria - I spent about $100 US in there on clothes. I went into A&F; and nothing in there really WOWED me. I've seen a lot of clothes I liked on their site or on ebay but I couldn't find those styles in that store, or if I did, it would be bloody expensive. So apparently there's Abercrombie & Fitch and then there's just plain old Abercrombie, I think for the kiddies, but I ended up buying something at the kiddie-esque store. The tops looked like they would fit me so I bought a large in girls (so probably a small in women's) and it fits me nicely. I also went to Aeropostale and bought 2 polo shirts (actually one of which is the one sleeplessroadsKay got) and then bought a zip up hoodie at Steve and Barry's. That Steve and Barry's store is the most awesome store ever, not necessarily because it has really nice clothes (the clothes are okay, good quality stuff but everything is university sportswear so if that's your thing...) but because everything in the store was like $7.98! So my zip up hoodie, which is a quality hoodie in itself, was only $7.98 so about $13 Canadian. You can't beat that. I also went by Hot Topic but I didn't go in because pretty much every one in there was goth-esque or wannabe goth or whatever. And I would definitely stick out like a sore thumb so I passed on that. Pac Sun was also in the mall but all the nice-ish stuff was expensive (and A&F; prices but A&F; stuff looks a lot better) and the on "sale" stuff was hideous.

Finally, today I started summer school. It was pooey X 100. Ironically, I originally was enroled in this class (that I need for my program) but dropped it for 2 reasons. One being because of this weird dude in the class that I didn't want to talk to/sit with/eat lunch with ever again (the superficial reason) and two because I couldn't understand anything my TA said as she couldn't speak English fluently. So I decided to take the class during the summer and that TA is my TA again for the class. Eh.

Oh yeah, that "Maps" song by Yeah Yeah Yeahs is actually pretty damn good - and I'm usually not a fan of chick singers in bands.

Coheed rocked. And I hate worms. [ 02 Apr 2004 | 02:52pm]
[ music | Coheed And Cambria - Hearshot Kid Disaster ]

Yesterday's Coheed and Cambria concert wrapped up a CRAPTASTIC week...that super sucked but luckily, the co&ca; show was what got me through it . School is over but I still have 2 essays and 2 exams left to go (and I still gotta go to work for that service bursary job, bah!). But at least classes are ALL OVER.

I went to the Coheed show at The Phoenix yesterday. Opening up for them was Brazil, Funeral For a Friend and Rainer Maria. FFAR and Rainer Maria were good but COHEED REALLY rocked. They played, in no particular order: In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3, Three Evils (Embodied in Love and Shadow), Devil in Jersey City, Delirium Trigger, A Favor House Atlantic, The Velourium Camper I: Faint of Hearts, The Velourium Camper III: Al the Killer, The Crowing, Blood Red Summer, Time Consumer and Everything Evil. Unfortunately, they didn't play The Light & The Glass, which is one of my favourite songs on IKSOSE.

I also had the most horrendous washroom experience last night. *shudders* One of the "ladies" washrooms there, that was apparently a men's washroom before as it had urinals in there, was utterly disgusting. But when you gotta go, you gotta go. I just feel sorry for the custodian staff at The Phoenix.

I also ended up buying a t-shirt. The one I wanted was the "Dragonfly" one or the one with the design on my LJ icon but they didn't have my size. So I got this "Keywork" one instead.

I got it in Youth Large (cause last time at the TBS show, I bought a small and it turned out a wee bit too big) and the shirt fits fine except the sleeves are so flippin' long. I have to get around to hemming it but I'm scared I'll screw it up. I also liked the hoodie they had available but sadly, I didn't have $40 with me =( And if I hadn't spent that $6.50 on Smirnoff, I probably could've (later on) bought stickers and whatnot that they had available.

So yes, it turned out to be a good night even though it was raining most of last night and I HATE RAIN (rain = worms). Rain puts me in a bad mood, generally speaking.

p.s. there were WAY too many scene kids there. I felt like I was in a sea of emo glasses, studded belts, chucks, band tshirts (of OTHER bands, because it's an unwritten rule to NEVER wear a shirt of the band you're there to see), and quite a lot of stretched ears - it was like a page right out of "How to Dress Emo".

CONEY O'BRIEN! Keep cool my babies, keep cool! [ 12 Feb 2004 | 02:57pm]
[ music | Death Cab for Cutie - Song for Kelly Huckaby ]

I saw Conan O'Brien yesterday at the Elgin Theatre, where he taped show #2 in Toronto.

It was quite spiffy. We sat on the bottom floor on the far left. I probably wouldn't have gotten the semi-good seats if it weren't for Derek (a la "Josephine's Derek") who waited in line for me as we (me and Josephine, who accompanied me downtown so she could get her ghetto-guitar-in-a-garbage-bag fixed) hustled over from York (which is hella far from the Elgin Theatre). But dude, the line up was hugeeeeee, there were tons of people there and even if you had reserved tickets, you weren't guaranteed in (there were more tickets given than seats available). But we got some free soup from the Primeau people and some [small cup] hot chocolate from Starbucks. It wasn't too cold, luckily, but I did start losing some feeling in my fingers.

The guests were Michael J. Fox, some guy who made moose calls and Nickelback. The show was hillarious, especially when the guy who did moose calls came on and Conan attempted to make some moose calls too. The only sucky part was when some ASSWIPE in the audience screamed out "FREAK" (re: the guy who did moose calls) and then the guy heard, seemed like he was hurt by the comment - his fascial expression went from happy to suddenly sad (like that episode of the Simpsons when Ralph went to see Krusty with Lisa). I would've been. What a pisshead, what's the point of calling him a freak? I felt so bad for the guy :(

Well, after the show, Conan signed stuff for the front section. But since I was way off to the side and not really in the near front, I ran like a maniac to the front whilst jumping over seats and people and jackets and bags. It was sort of funny. I was leaving the mob of people, after I had gotten Conan to sign my ticket, as I saw Derek smushing his way INTO the crowd. Man, I rock with my "crazy seat jumping-ness". Luckily too cause he had to go shortly after. Anyway, then I got Max's autograph before he left and most of the band's as well. As you can see from the crappy scan above...

And the day started off sort of shitty. I had to write an exam for my Language and Gender class. The class I only bought the course kit to THIS WEEK and the textbook last week. Long story short, I studied my ass off the day before and everything I studied wasn't even on the exam. In fact, I probably could've done well on the exam without even doing any of the readings. I hope I did well at least.

Oh and my shitty job just keeps getting shittier. I hope I get fired...soon.

Last night: Something Corporate, Days Away, Mae, and Rx Bandits [ 29 Nov 2003 | 12:21pm]
A PICTURE POST!!! BIG PICTURES, COMMENTARY AND STUFF!!

Well last night was awesome because I went to the Something Corporate, Days Away, Mae, and Rx Bandits show.

I thought Days away was alright, they weren't very "musically exciting" for me. The lead singer seemed to always have his eyes closed.

Yeah my hand wasn't still and it got all wonky. I CALL IT ARTISTIC!

Rest of my commentary with many pictures! )

And sadly, last night I lost $12 worth of TTC tokens. ARGHHHHHH! I'm pissed off about that still.

Okay this post took quite a long time to put together. I gotta start writing my sociology paper and start studying for an exam on Monday soon!!!

My bird is moulting! [ 21 Sep 2003 | 02:48pm]
My poor little birdy is going through a moulting period. He had some bald patches and there was an assortment of lost feathers all over the ground (I could make a pillow with these feathers - well, a very SMALL pillow).

Now he's growing in new feathers on his little noogin and he looks quite ugly (hideous) at the moment. He's got these "pin feathers" on his head that look like "individiually wrapped" new feathers (or as someone else says: stick like things that if you touch it, you can see that it is a feather still growing in). And for some reason, this really grosses me out.

The DURING picture

And now for the CUTE, AFTER picture! )

Welcome to Gayload USA [ 08 Sep 2003 | 10:31pm]
[ mood | tired ]

This weekend I went to Michigan...it was, um, interesting. And did anyone else know there's a town in Michigan called GAYLORD?!! I didn't and I was rather amused by this. Heh.

Here is a "pictorial commentary" or actually a "photo log" of the weekend.

Lotta pictures ahead! )

We got home late last night and then today, it's back to uni with classes starting up again. Crap the place is literary packed with 1st year students. I could barely walk from point a to point b without almost walking into someone. Damn double cohort. Ugh.

Hmm, how about... no? [ 12 Apr 2003 | 10:56pm]
I don't think so.

Pretty much ALL my entries are Friends-Only. Only periodically will I post a public entry, and even so, that entry will eventually become friends-only.

If you WANT to add me, just add me (do not make a comment on this post since I do not check this post). If I do not add you back within TWO weeks time, then you can just remove me.

(Thanks to Marissa for the journal!)
