There was that meme going around the other week about plugging your name into images.google.com and posting what the best results were, and I wasn't going to do it, but then I found this:

GRAAARRRGGH! )

Uh huh.

Can anyone here recommend any good travel sites online? I need to find a hotel to stay at in Narita, Japan, for one night at the end of April. Save me from the cruel fate of a 10 hour layover in the airport.

Oh yeah, hopefully in English. I don't speak Japanese. :(

[edit: nevermind, I found one. I'm booked in a hotel now.]

Do you have a digital camera, and if so, what are the brand, model, and specs?

Strange questions.

Can you cover a book with something other than Contact [adhesive wall-paper covering type stuff, not sure if it's available in the US]? Like fabric, or something? How?

Can you get leather pants re-tailored? Like change their shape, have them taken in, etc?

Can I get away with slashing someone's tyres?

A recap.

I haven't been reading much online stuff lately, including journals [my friends page just won't load!], as I'm speed-limited to 28.8kbps till the end of February, and everything loads so damned slowly. I'll catch up on everything, and I mean everything, as soon as things are able to load faster than it takes me to make a three course meal.

In the meantime, I've been being a complete and utter nerd. Downloading Alias season 3 episodes and watching them on my computer. Yes, at 28.8kbps. It took me two weeks to get three episodes. That's dedication, folks.

And is it just me, or did the writers/directors/producers drop the ball and not make quite as compelling an episode out of episode 47 [season 3, episode 3] as they could have? What with the whole importance of the number 47 over these last three years, that episode [not giving anything away, though I think I'm the only Australian who might read this who is nuts about that show] didn't seem to have quite the gravity nor portentousness [sweet tap dancing jesus, is that a word?] that it probably should have. Oh well.

I've watched the entirety of season 1 on DVD over the last couple of weeks, which in itself was a fascinating blast to past. I'm not normally huge on audio commentaries, but the commentary given for the finale of season 1 was fantastic. This is what Angel should do for its commentaries, as fun as listening to Joss Whedon is. Alias convened a large portion of their core cast [Jennifer Garner, Michael Vartan, Kevin Wiseman, Merrin Dungey, Carl Lumbly, Victor Garber, Ron Rifkin, and Bradley Cooper] to sit around and watch the final episode and talk all the way through it. It's obvious that they haven't seen it in a while [one can deduce from their comments that they were filming season 3 when it was done], and it seems to be as much of a 'stepping into the way back when machine' thing for them as it was for me. What really struck me, however, was the rapport between these people: It was like listening to a group of old friends sit around and shoot the shit, to coin a phrase. They gave each other hell, and no one took any of it very seriously. It was great. I laughed my ass off.

Now I can't wait till I can afford the season 2 DVDs.

So yeah, that's it. I've had one hell of a day, and am heading to bed. I'll try and give a complete rundown/catch up etc when I can actually see what I post. Hope all's well.

The number of times I get logged out of my account here on LiveJournal, I could seriously almost think someone else is logging into my account.

No matter, I changed the password. Probably should've done it ages ago anyway.

Yes, it's the kind of Survivor where you can vote more than one person off.

So I made this:

because I have the cutest cat ever.

And I went to upload it here:

and realised I couldn't, because I'd exceeded my icon limit.

So I'm asking you to do this:

I'm back, as of around 4pm this afternoon.

I now have a migraine, and am sunburned as only a person with English blood can be.

I'd hoped I'd be refreshed upon my return, but instead I'm just bored, disgruntled, and wondering why I came back.

That isn't what I wanted.

I'm doubting the likelihood of me getting time to post this in the morning, so I'm taking a brief break from packing to say I'm taking off tomorrow for a week, and will be back at the weekend.

Sun, sand, and surf, ahoy.

I'm taking my phone with me, and my camera. I'll see you when I see you.

Oh my god, I worked it out!

It's quite hot today, and humid... about 29°C [feels like 31°C]/84°F [88°F]. The smell is coming from the lucerne hay mulch we have in our front yard, as it heats up and decomposes. I had the front door open to let some air in the house, and that's what was bringing the demonsmell in.

Door closed, smell dissipating.

Case closed.

Harry Potter and the Really Bad Smell.

This weekend has sucked, royally; and just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, in came the Really Bad Smell.

I'm not sure what's causing it, but the entire front end of the house has this really horrible odour all of a sudden, something I can only describe as being like a very corpulent man went and ate a lot of blue cheese, threw up, and died five years ago, and only now is the smell of rotten blue cheese and putrescence coming home to rest.

I'm currently burning incense in my corridor in an attempt to exorcise this demonic smell, but it's only marginally working. I have an absolute plethora of scented candles in this house, and am halfway tempted to light them all at once to see if I can be rid of that smell. Sure, the smell of dozens of different scented candles might smell confusing at best, but it has to beat this Really Bad Smell.
