5:25 pm - INNNNTTTTTTTTEEEEERRRRRRNNNNNEEEEEEEEET

(internet)
Finally got internet at the new place. Now I just need a cellphone and I'll be good to go.
Short rehash from the trip: I drove nearly 24 hours without more than 20 minutes of sleep on the way down and about 21 hours the same way on the way back. Then another 600 miles or so when we were down there. I am so sick of my car. Fortunately I can turn my music up when I am in it alone or I might just start walking places for the next week or so.
The wedding and surrounding events went as well as possible though. I had exactly the same feeling when saying goodbye to everyone on sunday as I did when I was a kid leaving camp as a child.
Now I am back to my usual life with a few twists such as location. Got a lead on a possible new job. Finally got my computer hooked up. Even managed to move this giant desk (thanks again Katie) by myself. Now I just have to go trade back my parents van and I am more or less done except for some decision making about stuff I don't want to move but may want to keep.
Hit me on the AIM if any of you Seattle kids want to hang out.

12:01 pm - Seven days gone..
|
1,021 emails to 'read' from the week I was gone.. I am a popular guy..at least with spammers and music related email lists. I think the actual count of stuff I'm interested is probably about 20.
I'm packing up my computer, desk, chair, and audio stuff in a little bit now that I have cable internet setup down there. Cellphone to follow soon, I hope.

Who messed up my friends page?
Last day down here tomorrow. Good and bad really, but I bet anyone could've guessed that.
Oh hay, there's this girl and.. Oh, I bet anyone could've guessed that.
Apparently I have reached the stage of my life where I am most like a single middle late 20s woman with a ticking biological clock. Between the wedding and the reception I just went out to my car and listened to Morrissey. Josh depressed at a wedding? Shocking.
Literally shocking though: I slowdanced. Between the constant drama that happened at every dance I went to in highschool I have developed quite the distaste for dances. That, and I suck.
Assuming the caffine holds out I should be home monday afternoon. This entry has been terrible, goodnight.

2:38 pm - Fuck California
|
Special Note: I am not having a bad time down here particularly. Seeing Taylor is great. That said.
THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA CAN FUCKING DIE
Now that I've got that out of the way, I'll give a quick recap.
Ending 24 hours of straight driving with LA traffic is not fun. Huntington beach is like one giant fucking AFI concert. Not being able to be alone at all for days at a time makes Josh go nearly mad.
I can't wait to get back home and into my bed and chill out.

Today began great. Towed and ticketed. Lovely. I guess I underestimated how far thirty feet really is... That's $180 I would've preferred to use other ways.
California in an hour or so. It sounds like I should have cable internet as soon as I'm back. Good.
PS: The Cappelle's show with Wayne Brady hosting it is now the best episode ever.

7:09 pm - Dear Internet,
|
I miss you. I am putting Patton Wilson in charge of you while I am gone this week and Mike Johnson as Acting Second in Command. Be good.
My new place is awesome. Once I get internet and/or a cell phone it will be perfect.
California tomorrow. Burned about 20CDs of Mp3s for the trip.

Today I moved. Cliff saved my ass and helped me out when my dad had to bail on me.
I am extremely tired.
Emily is a kick ass room mate so far.
I have no internet at my house yet, and so my computer is at my parents until I get back from the wedding.

Got about half of the easier stuff out of my room and into the hallway. I don't have boxes for my books and some other stuff yet, so that'll part will have to wait. My computer and desk will wait until I come back from California. My bed should go down Saturday or Sunday though.
Between the move and my trip next week, I have myself nicely distracted from my troubles. Feels nice not to remember that I will soon have to worry about my problems. For one week out of the year I can pretend that I don't have issues with females in general that go deep enough to hold a freighter. Unfortunately, deep in the back of my mind I know that when I get back I will have to go back to real life. I'll be looking for a new job that will hopefully be better than what I got going on right now. At some point I have to apply to a school and hope that I make it in with my mediocre GPA. Thank God I don't have to come back to reality for another week and a half.
Damien tonight was amazing as usual. The opener was CocoRosie, who apparently is relatively popular and not local as I had assumed. Very weird. Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter were very good, but a little on the slow side for a standing show. If I could have sit down and enjoyed Phil Wandscher's post-Whiskeytown guitar playing I would have been much more happy. Speaking of which, after seeing Phil live I can see why one of the big reasons why I prefer Whiskeytown over Ryan Adams solo stuff. Well, at least a reason that isn't "Ryan Adams is a fucking dumbass."
Damien played a good, if a bit short, set. He worked in The Killer and Johnny Go Riding though so I was more than pleased. He closed his set with "Something In The Way." I know its blasphemy, but his version kicks Kurt Cobain's ass.
I managed to only use a HR tag once this post and you should all be proud.

8:10 pm - Moving: The Livejournal Entry Years
|
- I have found about $60 I didn't know I had while cleaning everything out.
- I have found out that deciding what to keep and what to throw away is a bitch. I have a ton of shit that falls into the category of "This would be cool to still have in twenty years, but for the next fifteen years I'd rather not carry it around."
- My allergies are paying now for the work my hands saved by almost never dusting any furniture for the last ten years.
- Furniture, no matter how small or light, is still always too heavy and too bulky. This is apparently some undiscovered law of physics.
I downloaded the Decahedron CD. For those unaware, this is two guys from Frodus and with a bassist of Fugazi. Apparently Jonathon Ford (Roadside Monument among many others) is the bassist when they're on tour as well.. The album sounds interesting from what one listen was able to tell me. The song titles are gold though. I have been waiting a decade for a band that can write a song entitled "No Carrier".

9:00 am - I knew there was a reason I got to sleep early last night.
|
Not that there was much doubt, but I got the call this morning and everything is cool. I will, in the next few days, be trucking my stuff down to my new home in a basement apartment in Wedgewood (East of the U.Dist since nobody has ever heard of Wedgewood, including myself).

|
Apparently Iron & Wine played tonight and I was not aware. Oddly enough, neither was Paul? Also on the list of shows I did not see tonight: DJ Shadow, Blackalicious, Lifesavas, and JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF. Oh well.
Tomorrow I will hopefully be seeing Damien play with Jesse Sykes & The Sweet Hereafter. Apparently someone from Whiskeytown is in that band. Weird. Unfortunately, this means missing Okkervil River for the second time.
Here's hoping my car get's all checked out tomorrow so I can actually drive to these shows.
Only got about five hours of sleep last night before the roofers started pounding away. It gave me an excuse to go check out what may or may not become my parents new house. It all depends on how willing the children of the dead lady who lived there are to negotiate on the price, given that it needs a new roof. It apparently 30% bigger than the house I've lived in, but it seems smaller to me.
The neighborhood makes the mild-mannered neighborhood I grew up in resemble LBC or Compton. There is lakes and trails and greenbelts. In fact, there is a fish. In the lake. His name is Spot. Yes, this neighborhood has a fish. They also have a homeowners association that regulates anything you do with your house and whatnot. They send out a newsletter and they point out who isn't keeping their yard nice. If I ever buy a house, remind me to do it out in the mountains where I can do what I want and shoot anyone who tells me different without any witnesses.
Note to self: Sleep at least eight hours before making journal entries.
Friday is this livejournal's third anniversary. This is my 2,110th post.
In other states news. I am only 49 hours of MP3s away from hitting the three month mark. Unfortunately, I may hit my hard drives 200gb mark before then.
( For those who managed to make it to the end, here's a funny animation of a depressed Pac-Man for you. )

4:36 am - Not dead yet.
|
(In this place, there was previously a really shitty journal entry. So shitty in fact that I decided it wasn't even worth posting.)
Tonight in a nutshell:- I went to do the paperwork for my lease.
- I hung out with my friend Tory. Although I love her to death, we have literally nothing in common and I ended up in a room of high schoolers who separated according to gender. I also suffered through Gone in Sixty Seconds, a movie that makes The Fast and the Furious look both realistic and good.
- Came home, wrote a shitty journal entry, deleted it and replaced it with HTML.

1:25 am - Mary Ellen's got a cancer just like everybody here...
|
..it seems everyone I know is getting cancer every year.
Started out today by winning $50 at work. That is an unsurprisingly great way to start the day.
Actually, to be perfectly accurate, I started the day when the roofers began their work. I cannot wait to get more than four hours sleep in a night.
This afternoon and evening I hung out with lots of people..
In the next month several of the seemingly steadfast stones will be removed from beneath my feet. This week I will most likely be moving down to Wedgewood. This means leaving the house I spent the last 18 years living in. About a month after that my parents should be moving and selling the only place I've ever really called home. I suppose I should really care less about this, but it does freak me out a bit.
This, of course, also means that, unless I act quick, I will never get to achieve the adolescent fantasy of having sex in the childhood room.
When I posed the question to myself tonight, it was nice to realize that it wouldn't be uncomfortable to just randomly run into any of the girls I've ever been involved with. Considering the terms I've been on with a couple of them in the past this is a relatively big achievement.

Today I got April fooled once when someone informed me of a new Wu-Tang album that doesn't actually exist :(
I did, however finally pull off hurr_mann's punk on the bright eyes community.
My parents bought a new house today. I am going to be living inside the Seattle city limits ASAP.

I'm going up to bellingham for a couple days. Together me and Graham will predictably work in lyrical references in every conversation we make. It shall be a grand time.
In other news.. It seems as if normally rumors are spread about good people saying the opposite. The rumors that are spread about yours truly just make it look like I party hard and am Cassinova or something. Don't believe everything you hear ladies and gentlemen.
