Ray's Journal I'm so physcially and mentally exhuasted right now. The past two weeks have worn me out...and this coming week don't seem like its gon be no stroll in the park either! I've been working really hard, and playing just as hard. I've been putting in hella hours at work, but I have also been celebrating my birthday for the past week and a half! Yes...my "real" birthday was on the 9th, but since then I had a family thang, a luau, and several extended after-birthday celebrations with friends, co-workers and cousins. (I'll share pictures soon!) I have never been one who wants others to make a big fuss about my birthdays, but it seems like this year everyone wants to. I had a great time during my Luau last Saturday. It was awesome having many of my family, friends, and co-workers here at the house, but it seems like that many of those who didn't make it to the Luau (and even those who did) feel obligated to take me to take me out to celebrate. I love my friends and family and I'm very grateful, but I am exhausted. I couldn't turn down any invitations, even after I was tired from running around all day and working an eight hour shift. I love y'all....THANKS YOU SOOO MUCH but NO MORE Rei do Gado's, TGI Friday's, Star Bar or D&B;'s PLEASSSSE!!! Aside from being tired and having a lot on my mind, I have meetings, work, a job interview and hella things that I need to take care of this weeks. I have lots of important decisons to make, but I'll take things on one at a time or else I will go crazy. (As if I ain't already!) The only thing that keeps me going motivated is thinking about how I will be able to see N.E.R.D & Black Eyed Peas with Apes & C-Lo on Thursday and I get to see hella family in LA on Saturday for Christine's Debut. I gotta work hard.....then party hard. I guess that's how things go for me.....for now. Current mood: exhausted. Current music: Janet Jackson "I WANT YOU". Abrasive people are like sand paper. After all the pressure and stress, you end up smooth and polished, while they're left ugly and worn. -from the movie The Fighting Temptations I went to Chinatown in LA yesterday I got me two baby turtles!!! I'm having trouble naming them. Here are some that I were thinking of and a few that others have suggested: Fook-Mi & Fook-Yu* Janet & JD Beyonce & JayZ* Si Mura at Si Mahal Chingy & Chinky* Marìa y Juàn RiteHerre & RiteDerre Kobe & Vanessa* Ozzy & Sharon Carmen & Dave Nick & Jessica (I watch a lot of MTV hahaha) JJ & JT (Janet Jackson & Justin Timberlake)* *I like these! What do you think? Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Current mood: amused. Current music: Janet Jackson - I Want You (Ray). For most of the day I've been bummin' it at home in a crappy mood. I blame it on the rain! (Yup I gotz that Milli Vanilli song stuck in my head!) I could also blame it on my lack of sleep. Even though I knew that I had to go to work on Sunday @ 7am (for inventory)...my dumbass went out and I didn't go to bed until 3:30am. It's all good though because I had fun. Here's a Friday -work -Got a haircut (and some highlight re-done) -Went to CostCo -Chilled en la casa con los homies. We baked a lasagna and watch Rex's "Hella Pinoy" DVD . Watching Tito Rex still cracks us up...even though we've seen the DVD (and its bonus materials) at least 4 or 5 times already. I think I've seen him perform similar skits at least a dozen times over the years. I remember seeing him three times during the same month one summer. I saw him up in the Bay area, in LA, and in San Diego and each time he'd see me he'd say "Shiet...InnTerlude's Doods?! You agen?!". Seeing Rex Navarette LIVE is something everyone has to do at least once in their life. He truly is talagang crassee!!! Saturday -I made an awesome Hawaiian mixed CD (compiled from my personal collection of favorite Hawaiian/Island Reggae CDs) -Chatted with Christine for bit. -Met up with some cousins and homies @ Fashion Valley. It was me, my sister, Alby, Christine, Rodney, Lexi, Willie. -Waw the movie EuroTrip. I was expecting it to be hella stupid, but I was pleasantly surprised. I was only watching it to see Kristin Kruek, but I actually ended up laughing my ass off and genuinely enjoying the movie! -We ended up at Dave & Buster's afterwards and had a good time. It was my first time back to D&B;'s in a long time. I don't even remember when I last went to the one more-or-less in Mission Valley. It was packed, luckily we got there 5 minutes before they started charging a cover charge. I ran into so many people that I haven't seen in so long. I saw Jamie De La Cruz, Mike E., E.J., and bunch of SDSU friends, Samahan pee-poles. We ended up chillin' at the bar with Jeff, Chris, Mark, Rochelle, and a few people. I controlled myself and didn't have too many drinks (because I knew I had to work early the next day). ;) -Afterwards, Christine & Rodney came over to the house and we chilled for a bit until everyone started to fall asleep... Sunday -After getting only 3 hours of sleep, I rolled out of bed, took a shower, and threw some clothes on and headed to work. But not before stopping by Starbucks @ Mercy Road for a white chocolate mocha with double shot of espresso. Good shiet man! I did not expect there to be hella people there at 6am on a Sunday but there was a pretty long line. I didn't know that they open at 4:30am!!! I wonder what kind of caffeine-addicted crackheads you'd find @ Starbucks at the buttcrack of dawn?! hahaha -Although there were a few mistake by some retarded RGIS staff members, the inventory went pretty smoothly and we were done before the store openned @ 11am. -I took advantage of my bonus discount and bought myself an awesome pair of Express Men Producer pants and some polos. I spent about $120, which is good because it would been $200 without my discount. =X (Just trying to justify another impluse buy!) -After work I headed over to the Ticketmaster office at Robinsons-May to see if there were any people in line for tickets to the Beyonce, Missy Elliott, and Alicia Keys concert in Anaheim. There were none yet, and I had an hour to kill so I headed over to Nordstroms and Aldo to try to find some shoes, but nuttin caught my eye. I bought myself some cologne--Echo by Davidoff. It kind of smells like my old school favorite Cool Water, but better. I likes...I likes it a lot! -I went back to the the Ticketmater @ Robinsons-May and made friends with two cute girls who were ahead of me in line for Beyonce, Missy, and Alicia tickets. One of 'em kinda looked like Stacy Dash (the Black girl from Clueless). This Stacy Dash (Caution: seaching for Stacy Dash online could lead to some NC-17 material. I guess there's another Stacy Dash, one who is a pornstar! hahaha) I ended up getting some decent tickets so I after showing them off at work, I headed home to eat, and take a nap. -I spent the rest of Sunday bummin' it in my PJs, watching TFC, The Ana Nicole Show, and the Cosby Show (on Nickelodeon hahaha). I guess that's it. Writing this long entry has made me sleepy so Mahalo to whoever is reading my LJ and Aloha auinapo a hui kaua! Current mood: blah. Current music: Justin Young - Kaili'ohe. I had this really long, interesting and insightful update, but LJ was being a "ponk bits", like Friendster. (WORD TO THE WISE: It is always a good idea to copy entries before clicking on Update Journal!!!) I think an LJ monster (or moo-moo, i.e. aswang) ate it. I ain't about to retype it. Anyhow to make a long story short, after spending most of the day moping around the house watching TV and DVDs, going to Walmart, and having dinner @ P.F. Changs....I'm feeling mo' bettah. Thanks for the shout out pinoyidoljayr. And hey...cheer up pinay_extacy Hakuna Matata... Current mood: mellow. Current music: Tamia "Officially Missing You". I'm getting over this strep infection, but I still feel like shit once in awhile. That once in awhile is now. =( I woke up early for our Spring Launch meeting and I had a big coughing attack in the middle of my presentation. Luckily I had my water right there in front of me. I need a nap.... Current mood: sick. Alicia Keys is freakin' amazing! I love her new CD. I've been waitting for it for the loooongest time. Alicia's music, voice, and lyrics soothes my soul. The DVD that came with it is pretty intresting as well. Alicia truly is a breathe of fresh air in today's mainstream musical atmosphere that's polluted with so much crap. I love the entire album and can listen to it straight through, just like song in A minor but for me the stand out tracks on The Diary of Alicia Keys include "Feelin' U, Feelin' Me","Diary", "Samsonite Man", and of course "You Don't Know My Name". It's been on repeat in my car all day long. But my most favorite track on the album is track #6 "If I Ain't Got You". I must've had it on repeat in my car for an entire 1/2 hour earlier today! "If I Ain't Got You" A. Keys Some people live for the fortune Some people live just for the fame Some people live for the power yeah Some people live just to play the game Some people think that the physical things Define what's within I've been there before But that life's a bore So full of the superficial Some people want it all But I don't want nothing at all If it ain't you baby If I ain't got you baby Some people want diamond rings Some just want everything But everything means nothing If I ain't got you Some people search for a fountain Promises forever young Some people need three dozen roses And that's the only way to prove you love them And in a world on a silver platter And wondering what it means No one to share, no one who truly cares for me Some people want it all But I don't want nothing at all If it ain't you baby If I ain't got you baby Some people want diamond rings Some just want everything But everything means nothing If I ain't got you Some people want it all But I don't want nothing at all If it ain't you baby If I ain't got you baby Some people want diamond rings Some just want everything But everything means nothing If I ain't got you If I ain't got you with me baby Nothing in this whole wide world don't mean a thing If I ain't got you with me baby Current mood: awake. Current music: Alicia Keys "If I Ain't Got You". The radio plays our favorite song And it's what keeps me holding on Baby, do you miss me Now that I'm gone, yeah I remember the love we had How could I forget I remember the tears I cried Over one regret Now we're alone, so alone I can't help thinking about you All the love in the world And I'm lonely without you (chorus) The radio plays our favorite song And it's what keeps me holding on Baby, do you miss me Now that I'm gone, yeah Get the DJ to play our favorite song 'Cause it's what keeps me holding on Baby, do you miss me Now that I'm gone Do you miss me, do you miss, (2X) Do you miss, I remember the love we had Not a day goes by Heaven knows where you are right now But my heart won't lie We were in love so in love My mind's been thinking about you All the love in the world And I'm lonely without you (chorus) Do you miss me, do you miss, (2X) Do you miss, Do you miss me, do you miss, (2X) Do you miss Dayam this songs brings back soooo many memories. Memories of my girl Jocelyn Enriquez and memories of what was going on in my life when this song and "A Little Bit of Ecstacy" were on the radio 24/7. blah blah blah... BTW Have any of you been seeing the TV commercial for a compilaton CD featuring Joce? They show her twice!!! There's a pretty long snippet of her "Do You Miss Me" video, and a clip of her with Amber and Ultra Nate performing "If You Could Read My Mind". They show it a lot on MTV and it never fails to put a smile on my face when I see it. =) I wish I could've gone to her show in LA tonight, but I had to attend the dayam Express/Express Men Holiday Launch Meeting tonight. Halloween was just a few days ago...and now the Christmas season is in full gear (for the retail industry anyway)! I was scurred about doing my presentation for the Launch Magazine, even though I've been preparing for the past week. But as soon I was in front of everyone and started doin' my thang, I was ok. I did more damage on the credit card buying mo' clothes, but I couldn't help it with the the extra 15% off (on top of my very good associate discount). Man, all-in-all I think I've spent close to $500 on clothes for the new season. But shit...if I wasn't an associate I would've spent close to $1000!!! =X Ok, I need to stop trying to justify my compuliveness. It's ok though because I worked close to 40 hours last week....and I love my new leather jacket ;) Ok...I'm tired now. Current mood: drained. Current music: Jocelyn Enriquez "Even If". Faaaallin' I'm listening to Alicia Key's new song "You Don't Know My Name" for the first time and I'm just "like whoa". I am sooo feelin' this song! It's got that old school acousitic soulful feelin' to it, like Stevie Wonder playing the piano and singing with a live band. She is sooooo amazing. I more excited about her coming back than Britney Spears! (Am I really? hahaha) "Oh mai gas...did you eat yet? I just watched Smallville and I couldn't help but think that if the Kent family were Filipino, they'd be considered as rude. If they were Filipino and Lana unexpectedly dropped by right before they were to have dinner, the mom wouldn't leave them and say "I'll keep a plate warm for you Clark". Istead Mrs. Kent would be like "Oh mai gas Lana, did yoo eat yet?", or "Hoy, yoo guys kam herre and eat now HA"...or "I cook your paborit, da makroni n chiz and pish estiks" (j/k...a Filipino mom would say dat wan, but yano what I'm sayin' food and sharing it is such an important part of our culture. "How do I live..." Speaking of Smallville...I want that LeAnn Rimes "Greatest Hits" CD that they plugged @ the end of the episode! Oh mai gas, I'm such a fob today. Yes, I know...I a weirdo! Ciao for now! Current mood: amused. Current music: ALICIA KEYS "You Don't Know My Name". Yesterday the Scripps Ranch fires got pretty close to our Rancho Peñasquitos neighborhood. We I stood outside facing the canyon I could see the flames less than 8 miles away. The smoke was so think that it looked like night...when it was actually noon. At night the flaming hills looked like volcanos with lava overflowing. There are fires burning in every corner of San Diego. Everyone is affected. I'm greatful that we have been spared, but my heartfelt prayers go out to those who are less fortunate. Please say a prayer for those who have lost loved ones or homes. |
