Reasons to Try |

I first heard The Pale on a local radio show (KEXP) here in Seattle. I saw them live with a friend in January 2003, and they were playing with a bunch of other local bands. It was awesome. My friend bought me a t-shirt. It's the baby blue one with the orange phone on it. I wear it a lot. I didn't get the CD (Gravity Gets Things Done) until the fall of last year, but it rocks my socks. They have another CD, right? An older one? I think I listened to a few tracks on the website. I might get it, but I didn't see it in stores when I looked... Can I buy it online?
EDIT:
BTW, I read the Rolling Stone review and it had the track listings... My CD doesn't have those last two songs on it. I'm really confused.

So...I go to Colorado State University, and i am a DJ for our radio station, kcsufm.com.
Anyway we had the Pale in heavy rotation, and i heard some songs off of it and thought they were good, so I got a copy of it...and...dear lord....
...I can't stop playing it!!
I listened to it like 4 times this weekend. I can't wait to see them live, does anyone know if they plan on touring anytime?
Oh yeah, I just joined. I am priviledged to be the 56th member of this wonderful community.

Hey, just joined. The Pale are incredible. I saw them at a SXSW instore and it was amazing. They played sans-Rhodes... so it made things interesting. Anyway. Here's some pictures from it.
( say, say, say it still works )

ROLLING STONE REVIEW!
i love this band so much.
it did make me a little sad that they hated 'the crash'... that's gotta be one of my favorite songs on the entire cd.

so today i was in the shower listening to mates of state and i decided that it would be totally awesome if the pale toured with them.
however, they are pregnant right now, so i don't know how soon they will be touring again...
who would you like to see the pale tour with?

THE PALE IN ROLLING STONE |
[14 Mar 2004|03:46pm] |
so, granted the magazine is ridiculous and biased, i still find it a grand acheivement that rolling stone reviewed gravity gets things done. what's strange is that i have never thought of the pale as emo. whateva, three stars is still pretty good by their standards.

heeeyyy I *finally* figured out how these communities work, so yes, I'm new, welcome me.
Actually, I do have a point to this post.
Anyone see the unflattering review for Gravity Gets Things Done in the current issue of AP? I was all excited to see it in there, and then BAM major diss. Aside from giving the cd a 2, it says "A paler shade of Death" *lame, very lame* and goes on to say something about them sounding exactly like Death Cab or something. Which I disagree. And they sound too smoother. *???* But there was a very nice comment about "Stop/Start" that I have yet to hear because I'm too cheap to buy the reissue. I don't even think "reissue" is the word.
Gar, anyway, I needed to rant, and none of my friends seem to care. AND I definately think The Pale are a hell of a lot better than most of the other bands that grace the cover of their flipping magazine.
And we're done =)

I haven't bought the "gravity gets things done" Cd yet (tsk, tsk, I know)... I was just wondering if the liner notes have the lyrics on them. thanks! Oh, and if any of you could post the lyrics to the song "gravity gets things done" I'd be an ultra happy camper..
Thanks, *Brynn*

Check out the Pale in the March issue of NCA. Click on the picture below for more info (basically, a link to click more links)
The issue also contains interviews with Streetlight Manifesto and Murder By Death. Plus a bunch of other stuff, so go check it out.

show, interview, photos |
[17 Feb 2004|12:57pm] |
So last night I saw the Pale at the Middle East Club in Cambridge, Mass.
There's a, more or less, detailed rundown of the show in my own livejournal, so if you click on my name you can read it (it's not friends only or anything) and it includes their set list.
I had the chance to interview Gabe, an interview I hope to type up later today, and it will appear in my zine, NCA, for the March issue, due out March 1st (oddly) Once I type the interview, I may just do a lj cut and post the text into this community though, who knows. But I will provide you with more information on that issue as it becomes available (in a week or so, around March 1st)
I also took some pictures which I will be developing tomorrow. So hopefully sometime later this week I can get them up online and you can all seem them if you want.
This is sort of an update, and sort of a "things to come" post.

so here is an interview...
c l i c k
i actually sat in on this interview before the san diego show that i didn't get into...
:)
anyways, it's an awesome interview and it goes into detail about some things you maybe never knew about the pale.
<3 dara
PS: in case you didn't know... sidecho records released a split picture vinyl from the pale and copeland and you should definitely order one. [[www.sidecho.com]] they only made a thousand and they will definitely be a collector's item one day :)
and both bands are on tour...so maybe if you order it and then take it to the show you can get everyone from both bands to sign it...that's my plan anyways
