We would like to invite you to join us at the Jimmy Carter Work Project 2005 in Michigan. Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn will lead volunteers from around the world in host cities Detroit and Benton Harbor, building homes and hope with families in need.
The number of volunteer slots is very limited, so registration will close as soon as all of the available spaces are filled – no later than April 22, 2005.
Please keep the following in mind as you consider this application:
- Each volunteer will be assessed a non-refundable registration fee.
Out-of-town volunteers, both sites – covers food, lodging and local ground transportation:
$500 (USD) – double-occupancy dorm room
$750 (USD) – single-occupancy dorm room
$750 (USD) – double-occupancy hotel/motel room (single hotel/motel rooms unavailable)
Local volunteers:
You must live within daily driving distance to apply as a local volunteer. Out-of-town volunteers who provide their own lodging or stay with friends and relatives in the host affiliate's area do not meet the requirements to register as local. You may be asked to provide proof-of-address before your application is processed.
Detroit - $175 (USD) – covers full week participation with breakfast, lunch and local transportation from a designated pickup site.
Benton Harbor - $175 (USD) – covers full week participation with breakfast, lunch, dinner and local transportation from a designated pickup site.
- A $100 non-refundable deposit by credit card (which will be deducted from the full registration fee) is required to complete the online application process. If accepted, the remainder will be due upon receipt of your confirmation e-mail.
- Upon successful completion of the application process, you will receive an e-mail acknowledgement. It will contain your application number. Please have this number available if you call, and include it in all written or e-mailed correspondence regarding JCWP.
- Please read the Release and Waiver of Liability thoroughly. If your application is accepted, you will be required to sign a copy of this form.
- E-mail notification of application status will begin February 25, 2005.
- Participants must be 18 years of age or older.
- Full-week participation is required for out-of-town and local volunteers. Out-of-town volunteers for Detroit must arrive by Friday, June 17 and depart Saturday, June 25. Out-of-town volunteers for Benton Harbor must arrive by Sunday, June 19 and depart Saturday, June 25.
- The number of volunteer spaces at Detroit and Benton Harbor is very limited. If we are unable to accept your application, your deposit will be credited to your charge card. We will also send you contact information for the other Michigan affiliates with volunteer opportunities for participating in JCWP.
