i am so sick of feeling like im fighting against my friends. IT IS NOT A FUCKING COMPETION. every day of your life, just be your fucking self and let it be. i dont give a fuck in the first place, so dont make something of it. it is boring and fucking REPETITIVE. listen? listen to me. so many things are hollow. you'll never believe me so, WHY DON'T YOU FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF. there is more bile and hatred in these words than in any of your borrowed cd collections, deep down. . i dont have any skin, but thats just the way it goes. i miss adam. when i used to go out i knew everyone i saw, now i go out alone, if i go out at all. (i know, we've been through this before, can't you hear me, i'm still calling out your name) A bond of trust Has been abused Something of value May be lost Give up your job Squander your cash - be rash Just hold on to your friends There are more than enough To fight and oppose Why waste good time Fighting the people you like Who will fall defending your name Oh, don't feel so ashamed To have friends But now you only call me When you're feeling depressed When you feel happy I'm So far from your mind My patience is stretched My loyalty vexed Oh, you're losing all of your friends Hold on to your friends Hold on to your friends Resist - or move on Be mad, be rash Smoke and explode Sell all of your clothes Just bear in mind : Oh, there just might come a time When you need some friends |

Bassist Kim Deal walked out first, followed by frontman Frank Black and guitarist Joey Santiago. Drummer Dave Lovering was so overwhelmed by the rapturous cheer, he took a photo of the crowd before the band even played a note. The group opened with Bone Machine , followed by Wave of Mutilation , and U-Mass . The band kept their words to a minimum, instead blasting through a near-perfect 90-minute set that featured a first segment of 20 songs and an encore of five. Following their final tune of the night Into the White , the band paused to shake hands and wave at fans who gave a hearty and lengthy cheer The set list from the Pixies first comeback show: 'Bone Machine' 'Wave Of Mutilation' 'U-Mass' 'Levitate Me' 'Broken Face' 'Monkey Gone To Heaven' 'The Holiday Song' 'Winterlong' 'Nimrod's Son' 'La La Love You' 'Ed Is Dead' 'Here Comes Your Man' 'Vamos' 'Debaser' 'Dead' '#13 Baby' 'Tame' 'Gigantic' 'Gouge Away' 'Caribou' 'Isla de Encanta' 'Velouria' 'Wave Of Mutilation (Surf)' 'Where Is My Mind?' 'Into The White' not even considering the last and first song, hahahahahahahahahhaha whywhywhywhy is it so far away.....slowly loosing my mind and much else trying to cope with getting to any point. the walkmen - the rat - single of the year.. this weeks nme. took me 4 spliffs, alot of different albums and three cups of tea to finish re-reading certain bits, buzzed. yeah yeah yeah's were pisstake but i might have already said that |

ANDY LAMERTON, sorry i couldnt get to the 5ways tonight, i fell asleep after 3 hours of headers and volleys and spliffs. woke up to the premiership, so all was not lost. |

Feeling the most under today i have done for a long time. No reason at all really, getting through alot of uni work (my schedule this week): monday - English - Concepts Of Culture essay on Keep The Aspidistra Flying by Orwell, 2000 words tuesday - Globalisation - Report on The Jubilee Campaign, what its aims were and how it achieved them, 2000 words wednesday - Introduction To Social Enquiry - Project on Hacking and people's views of Hackers, 2000 words thursday - wake up at 9, get glastonbury tickets, go back to bed, wake up for driving test, fail, go to uni to do essay, go back to bed, go to powerleague, die. friday - Dimensions of Race and Gender - Project on the declassification of cannabis, 2000 words Nice. And yes i could have reduced the work abit for this week, but due to getting about 2/3 hours sleep a night (and not going out too much, when i did i got in for 11 every night, not that it mattered when i fell asleep at 5 anyway) and moving my work between two houses, not being able to do any at my mums because of no computer, the uni's student e-mail crashing, going to the doctors twice about getting medical note for sleeping problem etc etc, finally get uni to acknowledge problem but then seeing as its the last week it doesnt look like i can get any extensions. fuck it. Iggy's been saving me at uni, Lust For Life got Frank Black's 'record that change my life' last month and its getting there for me. How can it have been made so long ago? Anyway, as usual, i fall back on music and talking about it. complete shit, adam. |

Festival Bands This Summer, Pixies : Until medical science develops to the point where they can dig Kurt up and glue his head back together and pump a note=perfect rendition of 'Heart-Shaped Box' out of his guts with bellows, there will never be a more eagerly anticipated reunion tour - nor a more carbohydrate-heavy rider - than the monu-fuggin'-mental return of the Pixies. Yes, mop down your trousers, we said the Pixies. The originators of modern alternative music as we know it (what's that at the back? Something Youth? Husker Who?) and easily among the three best bands ever. Tickets for their four Brixton Academy shows sold out quicker than cyanide pills at All Tomorrow's Parties. Mosh like savage man-eating pigs to 'Debaser'! Invoke satanic chimpanzee demons along to 'Monkey Gone To Heaven'! Contemplate the possibility that the ancient Greek hawk Gods were actually beings from another galaxy to 'Bird Dream Of The Olympus Mons' (Um, maybe that might just be me). And hoist your uvula to the heavens as 'Where Is My Mind?' gets half the Hebrides "OOOH-OOOHH!"-ing like smacked up seraphim. Not just the gig of the summer, the gig of your life. Reason to petition Parliment : To get them on the National Curriculum. For the sake of the children. - Mark Beaumont, NME went to 5th ave last night, was very good. got Gomez, Charlatans and Space coming up, aswell as Yeah Yeah Yeah's, Morrissey and The Pixies. Oh, and glastonbury :D will buzz after the exams are over |

Mojo's 100 Epic Rock Tracks (this months issue) : 36 - Oasis - Champagne Supernova. "...true though, that this songs title had arisen from nothing more mysterious than Noel mishearing the name of a Pixies LP while watching a documentary about bubbly" Chelsea Bolton game was very, very frustrating. not sure what im doing tonight. must do uni work soon. about it, last night was safe, ta. |

At uni, alot of work to be soon. Will probably get it done. Libertines was awesome, can't remember if i wrote here about it. Really was good to be with people and just listen to music. Sounds so simple really. Got injured last week in powerleague drubbing, such a bad challenge to be fair, got muscle damage or something. Kim is back from Aussie, which is good. Spending alot of money, about £70 a week if not more. Days sliding restlessly into weeks without much complaint. Wouldnt know where to start. Pretty happy generally which will account for the capital letters and many full stops. Read Keep The Aspidistra Flying by Orwell, buzzed so much again. Started reading Spiders and birdy, a Bill Bryson book too, all damn good. Sure uni is the one place you can count on so many eyes staring. At actually everything. It is a very uneasy place for me to have to spend all of my days, especially with no place to live nearby to go and die. Toilets are filth to try and gain focus back in, let alone not fainting as much as you were going to in the massive hospital corridors. Sleeping slowly getting back to the impressive amount that is less than the amount of time i smoke everyday. Have two cigs a day when im at uni, its when im with my friends i fuck up. So, all in all, not much has changed. The new Pete Doherty song For Lovers is genuis, the video actually worked, how??? Was doomed to failure but nay. New Graham C. song (Freakin' Out) is great too, i wont move onto Ash's new song/'direction'. Okay, i will. No, i must leave it. The Stills album 'logic will break your heart' is growing on me too. Good Stuff, and 3-1 Porto twill be the score later. |

THE STROKES say the reason they have signed up for this year's T IN THE PARK festival is because reformed indie heroes PIXIES are also on the bill. Guitarist Albert Hammond Jnr admits his band are huge fans of the Pixies, who have reunited to tour for the first time in 12 years this summer. And Hammond Jnr hopes there could even be a collaboration on the cards. He told BBC Radio 1: "I don't know - I know that we're lucky enough to be playing with the Pixies, which is a dream come true really, and who knows, maybe something happens with the band, but you know it's more fun to be spontaneous with that, maybe it happens like a surprise and not anything that's said before, you know!" hahah. hahahaha. how these things come full circle..... absolutly pisstake. oh, and watch for the phat smoke eye julian gets on their blinding new video...and on another note : SONIC YOUTH have finished their new album in time for a summer release. Nurse is the follow-up to 2002 s Murray Street and is due for release on June 7. so, good summer coming up then? |

NEW YORK (Billboard) - Confirming that interest in the Pixies' music has not waned since the band's 1993 demise, 11 of the 12 shows scheduled for the group's impending reunion tour sold out within minutes over the weekend. At the 1,600-seat Prairieland venue in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, capacity has been doubled to accommodate additional fans. "The demand has been so great," Prairieland events manager Carl Schlosser told Billboard.com. "We are the largest venue, so we'll be that overflow for fans who may have been shut out in other cities." Tickets for the 12th show on April 29 in Davis, Calif., go on sale March 1. The Pixies have logged several weeks of rehearsal in Los Angeles in preparation for the North American dates, which culminate May 1 at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, Calif. "We were all a little nervous when we first got together, but within maybe five minutes, everything felt completely comfortable, and it was like the last 11 years had never happened," vocalist/guitarist Frank Black (news) said in a statement. Added bassist Kim Deal (news), "I experienced what I call 'muscle memory' -- we'd be playing a song and I didn't even have to think about what note came next -- my fingers remembered what to play." i dont know why but that last comment from Kim has totally tripped me out. thats kim deal, talking about rehersing with the pixies, now. jesus. other news, life is good. |

"The only way to really make it -- anywhere -- is to put every bit of your being into the thing that only you can provide. The only angle is the art that you choose, that only you can provide. And to do that, you have to be quiet for a long time and find out what you bring forth. You have to know what's in yourself -- all your eccentricities, all your banalities, the full flavor of your woe and your joy. What does it look like? What does it feel like? What makes it different from everybody else's? It's totally subjective. You're just given the task of bringing it up. ...The thing is that I want it all next week, right now, this millisecond. The leader, the instigator, the creator, the cold origination; life should sparkle and rush, burn with fire. Hot like melting steel, like freeze-burn from a comet." J.B |

hold my head, we'll trampoline, finally, through the roof, on to somewhere near and far in time "The problem with her and I is that, you know the song Pretty Woman, I prefer the Roy Orbison version - the original version - and she prefers the Van Halen version, and this has been the source of our pain." (Frank Black on his divorce - Interview on BBC 6 Music) Not much else going through my mind at the moment. |
